Well, slush money for Montreal at least. It’s anyone’s guess why a port currently at 72% capacity really needs to expand, but we can dream, can’t we?
Nathalie Pilon, the chair of the Port of Montreal’s board of directors, said the expansion is needed, despite a recent decline in overall cargo traffic she attributed in part to U.S. tariffs. She said the port is at around 72 per cent capacity now, and that problems arise when 85 per cent is attained.
You’d think that having a four lane highway across the country might be a priority too, but roads to the Arctic seem to be the all the rage now. Mexico’s got a better road network than Canada at this juncture.

We need an expanded port both in Montreal (to keep the votes rolling in from Quebec). In and Vancouver (but Hongcouver is already owned by China)2 bring in the goods from our manufacturing sector in China.
As for the arctic roads, China has demanded those for their mining projects. Also helped by a Nunavet floor crosser. Would the floor-crossers be referred to as transparty MP’s?

Mackenzie Highway? I thought the Stone Agers rejected that in the 1980s when they rejected a pipeline from Tuk. That’s why they built the Demptster Highway instead.
As one who lived in the Territories many years ago, have to disagree with you. That highway is seriously long overdue. We were fortunate in that we lived south of Great Slave Lake and did have road connections which meant food didn’t have to be flown in. But for anyone north of Wrigley, it’s plane only (possible barge on the Mackenzie River in the summer but don’t know how good that is). A road through to Tuk would give the residents further north at least some access to trucked-in goods; not just food, but furniture and other goods. This road should have been put through many years ago.
Perhaps by a wealthy country, but this is a broke joke shithole of a country. If things have to be flown in because a highway costs too much, don’t live there, or deal.
