Kory Teneycke is her campaign manager.
Caroline Elliott initially committed to attend the only BC Conservative leadership debate taking place before the membership cutoff.
This is the moment members will decide who becomes the next Premier of British Columbia. It is a big deal.
Then things took a turn.
After agreeing to the date, format, and venue, Elliott’s campaign went ahead and bought out nearly every ticket to the venue. General admission was $50, VIP was $100. They cleared it out. Deep pockets. Impressive, I guess.
We weren’t going to let one campaign control the audience, so we moved the debate to a larger venue. Every campaign deserves a fair crowd.
No issue there.
At that point, Elliott backed out, and announced a mix & mingle event on the other side of the province.
Emphasis mine. I confess to not following BC politics much, so those of you with skin in that sorry game are welcome to expand upon it in the comments.

The cake is baked in BC.
Who’s the leader of a political party doesn’t much matter at this point.
Fake Conservatives will never get my vote anyway. Every time a ‘conservative’ party is formed in BC they immediately start infighting and backstabbing, then end up kicking out any real conservatives (just like their federal brethren).
If it wasn’t for OneBC I wouldn’t be voting at all in this next election.
Count me in. It’s a 1BC vote here too. There’s no way I can vote for the chameleon party, especially when someone like Elliott very possibly takes over.
She is everything you expect of a proggy.
Pro Indian rights.
Pro Rainbow rights.
Pro Liberal.
Ugh.
It is Lotus Land out here. Land of Birkenstocks, fleecy vests, Tie Die Skirts and gum boot Karens and Kens. They protest everything and truly believe that theirs is the best place on earth to live. Well it is not and the provincial motto is: BC – bring cash. Their provincial flower is BC Bud; provincial anthem is Helter Skelter and their provincial bird being the Dodo Bird.
^^ That’s pretty much it. Don’t forget that our main economic activity hovers around fentanyl: importing, making, and exporting,
Kory Teneycke is the definition of controlled opposition. He runs campaigns for Fat Fu*k Ford, a finger in the wind brain dead blowhard if ever there was one.
I still do wonder why anyone cares about Canadian politics though, the cake is baked, Canada is done.
Exactly what do these smart educated politician science grads ever contribute to a winning CPC campaign?
K.T. has acted like a Liberal plant for years.
Great snake oil salesman.
She just lost me. Cannibal conservatives continually eat their own.
“Cannibal Conservatives” – OMFG, I absolutely LOVE it!. Did you just invent that term? It’s billiant!
I’m going to use that one and suggest everyone else do too, albeit with a capital “C” on the second word.
Yes indeed, the old Socred/Liberal/United machine just can’t leave well enough alone.
NDPLite is their way.
The Christy Clark years were wasted opportunity, where they literally accomplished nothing but “be in power”. Nothing noteworthy but pet rights and family day. That’s not governance, that’s virtue signalling. That party was the ultimate “hold your nose” party when voting, the alternatives were even worse.
Elliott is just a baked in Federal Liberal. She’s a lecturer in Indigenous Rights at College.
Ex United Leader Kevin Falcon’s sister-in-law.
She speaks nicely, but, ZERO charisma.
Clearly, a puppet for the back room gang.
Clearly, not a CONSERVATIVE party, that window passed, but, isn’t really a surprise, when the Uniteds just slid over under the banner. The signs were all there during and right after the election when Rustad slimed his way to the Center and went to war on Jordan, Tara and Dallas.
BC’s problems will never be solved under Doug Ford Elliott.
When you can’t win the argument, buy out the venue and only invite your friends who don’t care that you are an idiot because they are expecting to get their palms greased later.
Agreed CodexCoder, though I don’t follow the BC Conservatives closely enough, I would doubt my support for them when I saw they weren’t prepared to face a real audience, or more importantly an unfriendly audience.
Much of the province’s electorate isn’t friendly to conservative leaning candidates, which is why this matters.
And if the party has the funds to buy out most of a hall for the debate, they don’t need my $20
