    I threw up a little in my mouth when reading this. As IF settlers on the prairie didn’t entirely focus on survival and building a successful future. Any “inequities” were the result of primitive people living primitively … not any fault of the superior culture who just wanted to build a successful farm

    1. Exactly what I was thinking. Imagine anyone believing that pioneering the prairies and struggling to eke out survival being so easy and trivial that people had time to put down the plow, barn the mule and head off to dish out oppression.

    1. They do that in fall. Free pumpkins and garden vegetables to anyone who wants.

      The park buys produce from some local gardens if they didn’t produce enough of their own, then in the fall they give away from pumpkins and vegetables. And unfortunately it isn’t to those in need primarily, anytime I’ve seen it or been there it’s liberal white women loading their SUV’s with free pumpkins.

  14. You guys are correct. My great-great-grandfather lived in a soddy for his first winter (just north of Imperial). He was more concerned about survival than mistreating locals.

  15. I propose that all the historic site visitors be given a stone knife and asked to skin an animal.

    To experience inequity.

    This would also make a good social studies course for grade 11 students.

  18. Cypress Hills Massacre Site.
    Driving West across the bottom of Saskatchewan a couple of years back,we stopped at the fort and got the lecture.
    Complete load of bollocks.
    The saloon owner gave the starving indians a keg of rot gut,for bringing his horse back.
    The gave the wolfers,free rotgut cause the horse disappeared again,same day.
    Wound up with two groups of drunk loons shooting at each other..
    Some massacre,not even sure it meets the definition.
    But it became one,once Ottawa needed it to be.
    The Saloon owner was never investigated.
