  1. Cue the “TACO Trump” TDS brigade. Trump chickened out! Iran threatened retaliation! Trump’s RED LINES are meaningless.

I highly doubt Trump is inventing “talks” that don’t exist … despite any belligerent statements coming out of Iran. Iran’s war-making capabilities have been all but decimated. The Iranian Guard can spout off all the propaganda lies they want, but the smart thing to do is negotiate. Actually, the very best thing to do is … surrender.

  2. According to Iran International News

Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan have been passing messages between the United States and Iran in recent days in an effort to de-escalate the conflict, Axios reported, citing a US source
CNBC host Joe Kernen said US President Donald Trump described ongoing contacts with Iran as effectively amounting to “regime change,” according to remarks on air.
Kernen said Trump told him the talks were not with a single leader but with “representatives,” adding Iran presents itself as having a broader structure.

  3. They’ll negotiate a deal. Trump will declare a great victory.

Iran will ignore the deal and rapidly rebuild.

North Korea may give Iran nukes in exchange for oil.

    1. Trump bombed their nuclear facilities in June 2025. Iran began rebuilding their nuclear program … so Trump decimated … is still decimating … more nuclear facilities and all of Irans war-making capabilities in March 2026. All we need is a leader like Donald Trump doing the “negotiations” when Iran recants their agreements.

Trump is going to get a “Nuclear Deal” with Iran much quicker and which will be much longer lasting than Obama/John Kerry’s. Yeah … there will be NO UN “Inspectors” as there is nothing left to inspect.

    2. “They’ll negotiate a deal. Trump will declare a great victory.

Iran will ignore the deal and rapidly rebuild. ”

Can’t happen with Donald Trump as President.

Unlike Obama, any deal that Trump might make WILL include compliance inspections. Real ones, this time.

      1. A) You have that much faith in inspections? There are lots of ways to circumvent inspections.

        B) Trump won’t be around in three years. I was thinking longer term.

        1. You’re right, Joe. Peace in our time has an expiry date. It can last for a matter of months, or generations. And in the case of the latter, ancient hatreds can be kept at a simmer – just waiting for an Obammy or Biden to give them the full boil signal.

        2. “A) You have that much faith in inspections? There are lots of ways to circumvent inspections.”

But not without making it obvious. Saddam Hussein used to do it (creating traffic jams, etc) but he didn’t get away with it.

Barack Obama’s ‘deal’ with Iran was that inspectors could only look in areas where Iran *allowed* them to look, which made it effectively useless. Any new deal will allow inspectors to show up unannounced and inspect *anywhere they want*. Any time they want. Or NO DEAL. Huge difference.

“B) Trump won’t be around in three years. I was thinking longer term.”

I’m thinking that a Republican President will be in charge for some time. I don’t believe anyone will fall for a repeat of the North Korean fiasco like Bill Clinton did (and Barack Obama was about to).

  4. Trump: If you don’t negotiate we’ll bomb all your power plants.
    Iran: Ok, Ok, we’ll negotiate.
    Media: Trump always chickens out.

    1. Iran: We’ll do the same. The deciding factor is how many missiles does Iran have left.

  5. I don’t see any great “deal” here, other than an arrangement which leaves ships transiting the Straits of Hormuz only by permission of the country that we’re supposed to be at war with. The main reason for the alleged peace talks is simple enough: financial markets were set to crater this morning, so someone had to back down. And that someone was not Iran.

The only way to wrest control of the Straits away from Iran is for a land invasion of their Persian Gulf coastline. The number of Marines currently headed in that direction is woefully inadequate for that. What this indicates is that the United States did not do enough to prepare for this war.

    1. Your every point is utterly WRONG. And PS … all markets are UP BIGLY this morning … the DOW is up near 1,000 points. We can do any bloody thing we want to in Iran … including opening the straits. And no… none of those things can be done in a day. Patience.

    2. Trump isn’t backing down in any way, the US went into this fully prepared to change tactics if necessary (like any other military action) and you still have a raging case of TDS.

Just stop, Dennis. It was funny at first but it’s getting tiresome now.

    3. Oh Denise, Denise, Denise.
      Ye of little faith.
So many small minds that only look through their enraged lens of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In case you hadn’t noticed, clearly, that the US is taking on next generation warfare. The days of Eisenhower sending in thousands of troops in waves to capture a beachhead, at the cost of thousands of lives, is over. Afstan, Iraq, Vietnam were clusterfcks run by old school square heads. If other turd world countries want to fight like that, they can fed the meat grinder. Well, HELLO Ukraine!
This is the generation of technological warfare. Patton would HATE IT. Yet, it is necessary, more effective, using geolocation technology to efficiently wipe out military and manufacturing sites. Minimizes civilian casualties unless you’re a barbaric regime. Like Iran, who just doesn’t care. That’s another reason Iran needs a revolution.
You forgot the Maduro capture. Didn’t take thousands of troops, was less than a hundred.
Troops can be sent in, targeting specific locations to overwhelm the enemy with the aid of technological warfare and weapons. It’s much more effective and minimizes troop casualties.
But go ahead Denise, find your safe space, blankie, and favourite drugs.
This is the best planned military and administration I’ve seen in years, that isn’t at war within its own boundaries, making up fake dossiers, fake Russian stories, and fake insurrections.

      1. I’m not so sure Patton would have hated it. He wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about unnecessary casualties, so while he would have been sceptical, he would have wanted to see just what it was worth. I daresay he would have hated overreliance on untested methods and lack of provision for alternatives, and rightly so, but I dont think we’re faced with that here.

        1. Patton was a cavalry man at heart. That kind of old school, tough as nails, no compromise bastard, was also his downfall, but they would not have won the war without him.
Patton was the general the Germans feared the most. Just the threat of his alleged invasion location of France (a head fake) was key to DDay’s success.
He did say “ No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country”.

          1. The Soviets won the war more than the US and allies … the Soviets had been fighting the Germans for almost 3 years when D-Day happened. Somewhere around 17 to 22 million Soviets dead.
To say Patton won the war is nonsensical!!!
            Patton won some great battles.
Read Stalin’s War for some info on the part of WWII we seldom hear about. The US support for the Soviet Union will surprise you https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/54815264-stalin-s-war

          2. General George S. Patton was a cavalry man who embraced that new fangled Brit invention the tank which had debuted in WWI. In WWII, General Patton used tanks very effectively in 3rd Army’s race across France and in relief at the Battle of the Bulge. Patton waa also a general who strived to limit casualties compared to Omar Bradley and other combat commanders. Patton was dedicated to WINNING. Pretty sure that I’ve read President Trump is a great admirer of George Patton.

          3. Re the Soviets won the war more than the U.S. did.

Josef Stalin didn’t think so. He told the American President that if it wasn’t for military aid to Russia, the Russia would have lost.

Ref the book Arsenal of Democracy.

          4. Well excuse me Stewpid, but you need better comprehension skills.
            Jump to conclusions much?
No, Patton didn’t win the war single-handedly. But, he was a very important part of the effort.
He lived in the German’s minds.
He ran through them without regard.
He turned back Rommel in the desert, a major defeat for the Huns, which they had not experienced to that point.
Lest we not forget his primary role in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was an imperfect man, but perfect for those times.
So, go ahead and idolize your Russians. They played their role. As did Patton and the Allied armies.

          5. Yes, Patton had learned from Guderian just what could be done with tanks, and his cavalry training had taught him the kinds of things you might usefully want to do, and he handled tanks with the best of them. His campaign across France encountered dramatic changes in circumstance that made his plans irrelevant, and it didn’t so much as slow him down. He improvised on a remarkable scale and with remarkable effectiveness.

  6. IRGC Claims Responsibility for Arson Attack Against Jewish Ambulance Service in London.
Home Secretary calls it arson attack.
PM Starmer declares there is no place for anti-semitism in the UK.
An arson crime or a “hate” crime or a terror attack?
Golders Green arson attack investigation ‘being led by counter-terrorism police’, Met Police confirm
    https://www.gbnews.com/news/video-golders-green-arson-attack-investigation-led-counter-terrorism-police
Oh wait, no UK government has declared the IRGC a terror irganuzation.

  7. Some call it a victory…I call it an offramp. Best take it…and I ain’t talking about Iran.
For all the bravado and I’m a Trump fan…him and Netanyahu effed things up royally with this. They just couldn’t leave well enough alone but they poked the dog and the dog bit both him and Yahoo in the ass. Iran was a tougher nut than they thought.
Canadian families have it tough enough buying food even more so at the pumps and with the 35% tariff on fertilizer because of the Ukraine war it’d be even tougher. The sociopath in Ottawa could make it go all away with the stroke of a pen but he won’t…so here we are.
    Unpopular view I understand…but it’s my view.

    1. “They just couldn’t leave well enough alone but they poked the dog and the dog bit both him and Yahoo in the ass. Iran was a tougher nut than they thought.”

I don’t know about that. Seems like this action is playing out just as predicted. All that needs to happen now is to degrade the capabilities of the IRGC to the point where the regular Iranian military (with the enthusiastic support of the people) can force them to surrender or die.

      “Unpopular view I understand…but it’s my view.”

      I get that.

(especially every time there is a thread on Pierre Poilievre, I get that…:)

  8. Some here are suggesting that the US had to negotiate right away, because guys like Lutnick and Bessant didn’t foresee a market decline coming. Yeah I’m sure that possibility wasn’t listed on their decision tree when they mapped out the invasion. I don’t think so. Hey when this is all over, do you think that London will have greater control over the price of WTI, or less?

  9. A Nuclear Iran is not to be tolerated.
Iran showed who they are, attacking all neighbouring countries.
Think they would hesitate to do that with nukes?
You want to bet on that?.
A week or two of market turmoil vs a nuclear exchange with far bigger ramifications that your portfolio value.
You need to get your head examined.

    1. Well said, BTS. If those religious fanatics ever got their hands on a nuclear weapon the consequences would be far more horrifying than a temporary drop in stock prices or boost in the price of gas.

    1. “Iran is demanding compensation from the US for the attack as a condition for the agreement”

Iran is hilarious…they should be doing stand-up.

    2. Islamic MO. It used to be call for a ceasefire when getting your ass kicked. Then regroup, rearm and renew the attack.
Now, it’s demand compensation to fund the regroup and rearm. President Trump has, so far, been the only one not to fall for the deception. Everyone else was conquered.

      1. “President Trump has, so far, been the only one not to fall for the deception. Everyone else was conquered.”

His decision to stop Israel from finishing off Hamas was one of the only things I have disagreed with him on. Generally he has a plan…and a backup plan.

  10. Make the rubble bounce.
Nukem ’til they glow, then shootem in the dark.
All I want is wurled peas.

  11. From what I’ve seen so far I think this is going to be a long war. Looks like mission creep has already started. Hopefully I’m wrong.

    1. @Francisco:
It could be a short war if Trumps just states he achieved all his goals and walks away.

      1. At this point I don’t think that would be enough reason for the Iranians to stop.

  12. I don’t think Trump is batting 1000 on this one. He’s most likely in the 800’s but I think the enemy was more resilient than anticipated. The expected uprising never happened. The military is running as decentralized units. Mobile launchers are harder to find than expected. Components to make shahads are still being smuggled in. And the mining of the strait has been pretty successful.

At the beginning of this Trump left everyone thinking that Iran would be a cake walk. I still think Trump can win this but it’s going to be a lot more difficult than he originally predicted.
