The Beginning of the End of Twitter 1.0

In my digital calendar, I denote all sorts of important events – births, deaths, historical events, etc. On March 6, 2019, one of the most important Joe Rogan podcasts ever occurred: Joe Rogan Experience #1258 – Jack Dorsey, Vijaya Gadde & Tim Pool. Here’s a summary of what occurred.

The following is entirely my opinion, but this video is proof positive that Vijaya Gadde was absolutely one of the worst people in the world at that time. Since then, we’ve witnessed other tyrants like Thierry Breton of the EU and a bunch of anti-free speech zealots in Canada, the UK, and Germany, but she was clearly a pioneer in this arena.

  1. The one thing I can remember is Gadde and Dorsey repeatedly saying that they chose “safety” over free speech. Like there is some kind of danger in tweets. Just maddening. Somehow X is safe today without conservatives being kicked off left and right.

I was not a subscriber to twitter back then. After Musk took over, I joined, and now I love it.

    1. it eludes to the emphasis on feeeeeeeeeelings trumping truth, common sense, free speech, etc.
aka google ‘bc human rights commision $750,000 fine’.

      1. Yes, you’re right, these two things are related.

Safety on twitter is the same as safety from having to choose between a male or female haircut. No relation to reality. No relation to common sense. Just a vague and amorphous emphasis on the feelings of mentally-challenged individuals.

      1. That Amnesty Intl post is so utterly unhinged and divorced from reality, it’s putrid. It has an element of the Norm Macdonald famous tweet – https://x.com/normmacdonald/status/809637479674281984?lang=en

If little girls are murdered in Southport by a deranged Muslim, imagine the backlash again peaceful Muslims.

        But it’s even worse.

Imagine the social media platform facilitating the backlash against peaceful Muslims.

        1. Perhaps Amnesty should stick to their original core mission of freeing prisoners being held by oppressive regimes … starting with Britain’s “hate speech” prisoners

  2. I don’t think I’m being dramatic when I say Elon Musk single handedly saved free speech. Literally. Conservatives were being shafted good and hard …during Covid as well which really made things difficult.
The mass migration of the left over to Bluesky was a dud. They’re slowly coming back.

There’s a hard line conservative out there who shall remain nameless, who along with his Col.Kurtz like descent into madness hates his X platform with the heat of a thousand suns. It’s Musk this…Musk that, “Musk doesn’t know what he’s doing” and on and on it goes.
I can only shake my head.
Dude…have you been paying attention for the last few years?

    1. Yes, you are being dramatic.
Musk single handedly ensured that the tower of babel abides.
Dude, keep being distracted and pay real attention.
I don’t really care, though. You can live and tweet to your heart’s content and amplify the noise that drowns the signal, which is what “they” like.
As for me, I prefer birdsong…the original tweets.
      Have a nice day.

    2. Burton, I’m old enough to remember the (at least) 50% of conservatives who didn’t trust Musk … cause he runs a highly subsidized EV company. And that he has had children with dozens of women. And that he has donated/voted for Democrats in the past (like Donald Trump) … etc.

For some … Musk can NEVER be accepted as a “conservative” … because he isn’t a PURE conservative … like Donald Trump isn’t a pure … sanctified … conservative.

As for me … I have heartily welcomed everything Musk has done since buying Twitter and became suddenly hated and reviled by the collective Left.

      1. Musk has done more good in this world than anyone else in the last couple of decades.

That is the biggest reason he is a multi-billionaire and the richest person in the world. He produces value for other humans.

And not all of this value was monetized, as you’ve said, because the Twitter purchase was never done for monetary reward, he vastly overpaid. Musk is also relatable and human, one of his kids went crazy trans, Musk himself is not the greatest at relationships, and has fallen out with his relationships, he had a huge tiff with Trump after DOGE, and he has had plenty of other challenges. But the guy perseveres more than other human in history, he never gives up, he never stops… and all of his goals are commendable, including his dogged pursuit to get Trump elected in 2024 and his pursuit of Twitter to enable free speech online again.

        1. I am not sure people realize how much Musk has done for space. Rocket boosters that come back to land. Enough spare power to lose a couple of engines and do the job. Plans of in-orbit refueling. Starship. He stepped up in a big way to bring costs down. And then Starlink and X.

    3. You’re 100% correct. Musk did save Free Speech in the Western World.

There are still dark forces trying to remove free speech rights and turn the West into a China-like surveillance state, but for the 2020’s, much credit goes to Musk!

  3. This is the Star Wars Name street s*****r who nuked my Twitter account after I called called out NPR as frauds. Yet another reason why we need to deport anyone with Star Wars Names.

  4. Musk’s purchase and reveal of twitter was a gift to every lover of individual freedom.
The exposure, with confirmation, of Government Censorship of Twitter ought to have opened more eyes..

Government is your natural enemy, which will silence you, delete you and deny doing so .
    “Silence, I kill you!”
Yet here we are, youtube,Facebook are also exposed for being servants of The State of Thuggery, yet they sail on without consequence.
Still removing content and deplatforming “wrong speak”..
The sacred narrative must go on.

    RICO,is called for.
For these organizations have become enormously rich and powerful,by odious methods.
Yet people still voluntarily sign up.
And these same people insist their privacy be protected…
If a service is “free” you are the product.
