  1. L – Storing all your personal and business data in the cloud sounds so ethereal, but not so much in reality. It turns out to have been more like “a hell of an idea”.

  2. I understand that PG&E are underwriting data center energy rates on the backs of residential customers. Sadly, our CA PUC is full global warmists and high tech globalists. They can screw the customer with impunity.

  3. Ontario is replacing some big, and installing some small reactors for reasons like this. Once the electricity is being generated you can find lots of industrial uses for it.

  4. I’m a Loudoun County resident.
Living here is very expensive. The trade off is living, quite literally, at the apex of civilization. If that sounds boastful, it is, and isn’t. It is a complete paradox.
Some misnomers in this video and other unmentioned aspects.
    1. The land, here in particular, is very expensive, to the extent that it was available because developers can’t afford to buy and build later without the tax credits, schools, and all the other goodies, fire and rescue etc.
(Every other year I vote no to hundreds of millions in bond requests but I’m outnumbered 2 to 1)
(P.W. County residents turned down Disney… so they get this.) (… also those residents recently won a big court battle, so … maybe this video is dated.)
    2. Loudoun Water is a privately held company, recently involved in a lawsuit over water rights with the state of Maryland. A case which harkens back to Washington’s land acquisition for the District of Columbia. Also… (there’s very little shit in a data center’s returned water.) (Probably just micro plastics.)
    3. The Dulles Town Center, once a very nice large mall, now stands maybe 65% empty or more because of internet competition.
    4. Ashburn, in Loudoun, does indeed process 1/3 of the WORLD’S internet traffic. It’s also famous for electrical storms. When your card won’t process, check the weather in Ashburn.
    5. Between rush hours, 1 out of every 14 cars is a Tessla on rt. 7. (oh yes other EVs too not included) if Dominion raises rates 50% ha!
    6. Data centers do not add much to traffic, but the low frequency vibes are daunting.

  5. Prosperity is entirely contingent on the availability of abundant, cheap energy. The more the better, as long as it remains low-cost (coal works well).

It’s bizarre how the hard right and the far left are united in their disdain for progress on this front.
