While ending such needless mandates is welcome news, the administration also needs to end the Obama era mandates for essentially zero emission diesel engines as well. They force buyers of highway tractors, farm and construction equipment to shoulder the cost of tens of thousands of dollars in useless ingredients.
The proposal would significantly reduce fuel economy requirements, which set rules on how far new vehicles need to travel on a gallon of gasoline, through the 2031 model year, according to a White House official and several people familiar with the plan.

These ever escalating CAFE standards have the goal of FORCING every auto manufacturer to make EV’s. They have to … if they want their “fleet” of vehicles to comply. They cannot make an ICE F-150 unless they lose billions on the Mustang EV.
Thank you, President Trump. Because these idiotic standards are being paid-for across the entire fleet of autos … which make automobile ownership an ever-shrinking possibility.
And as a long beleaguered Californian… let me add that I am in the market for a new lawnmower for my brand new 2,000+ sq.ft. of lawn (which is lush, green, and growing beautifully -thank you).
But the CA CARB has BANNED the sale of all new gasoline powered lawn mowers (2-years ago). So I am going to drive to Reno to purchase a new Toro gasoline powered lawn mower. I don’t want to buy used or NOS … which is still legal to do.
But then, the CARB demands that all small engines be CARB approved… and using non-CARB-approved motors can result in hefty fines. And NO … the El Salvadoran commercial gardeners are NOT using electric lawnmowers. They’re just crap. So the ban on sales has done NOTHING to halt the use of gasoline lawn mowers. The bureaucrat State is completely out of control, and needs to be dismantled. Hooray … Hoo Rah! President Trump.
So now my decision is … do I buy the 150cc Toro mower that is CARB approved? Or do I say screw it and get the 163cc model that I prefer?
In a related story … NONE of my showerheads are CA DWR approved trickle-heads. Nope. They’re all 2.5gpm gusher-heads that actually rinse the conditioner out of my hair. Yes … I bought them “illegally”.
Trump needs to remove the authority of CARB that was granted to them by an Executive order, and see it through, even when the democrat judges block it.
Along with the EPA’s … “endangerment finding”. Co2 is NOT a threat. It absolutely does NOT endanger life of this planet … it ENABLES it.
