  1. A relationship anchored in Chinese, not Canadian interests. Think I fixed that sentence.

  2. Washington no longer views Canada as an ally, but rather as a subordinate from which to extract concessions …

Don’t worry … the ChiComs wouldn’t even think of treating Canada as a subordinate. Nahhhhh … they your happy, good joy, luck time partner

  3. Where the Globe and Mail byline includes this tongue bath for the author, it is perhaps “incomplete”

“Julian Karaguesian is an economic and policy expert and former special adviser to the Department of Finance Canada and a visiting lecturer in the department of economics at McGill University.”

    Andy Lee:
“The author of the Globe and Mail piece, Julian Karaguesian, is a guest author for the Beijing-friendly Institute for Peace & Diplomacy.
The Institute was founded by the Canada China Business Council’s Bijan Ahmadi, seen below with Consul General Yang Shu.”

The Globe and Mail would do well to include pertinent information from their guest authors and include background information such as to be expected from the other lobbyists writing on behalf of their benefactors.

  4. I’m not saying the USA should conquer Canada and it’s treacherous Liberals.

It might, however, be time to start planning such a campaign just in case your country goes full retard.

  5. Given that the US no longer wants to trade with the Canada, we don’t much choice but to form closer trading relations with any major economic nation willing to do business. The alternative is impoverishment.

    1. I think the current plan by our Laurentian elites poverty and servitude, while they make a quick buck and run.

    2. Given that the US no longer wants to trade with the Canada

Your New Bestest Trading Partner Ever’s tariffs on a giant swathe of our agricultural production is 100%.

Weird that you won’t acknowledge that inconvenient truth.

I guess that’s who you want to trade with. Kowtow, genuflect, bend over, and good luck.

That’s his TDS talking, as usual.

        1. Trump is trying to impoverish our nation in an apparent attempt to force us to join the US, and in Fred from BC’s world, opposing this is TDS.

          1. Are you still peddling that hysteria about becoming the 51st state?

You really are literally incapable of grasping deceit in anyone in a position of authority, aren’t you?

          2. Trump and his administrators have now made dozens of references about Canada joining the US. The first was in December, and the most recent on June 29th.

Only a damn fool would not take it seriously.

          3. DR:

If you would kindly provide a set of guidelines explaing how to tell which of Trump’s remarks are serious and which ones are not, I would appreciate it.

As an example, should we take Trump’s threats to patriate the Panama Canal seriously? How about Greenland? And if the answer is yes to both, why should we not take his overtures to Canadas seriously?

      2. Well our old bestest trading partner has placed tariffs ranging from 10% to 50% on EVERYTHING.

  6. If the West is arresting people for social media posts they don’t like, when do we move to arresting people for writing columns they don’t like? Looking forward to it.

  7. Right now, I think the US no longer cares who their friends are. The expectation is that the alure of money will erase any sins of the past. That may not be the case. Many countries got into a situation of dependency on the US because of their trust of the US. That trust is now broken. I wonder how the US will do long term when people evaluate future relations based on an inherent mistrust of future US actions or intentions.

    1. It is, actually.

Just like a faction of progressivism has slid leftwards, with radical takes that claim to represent the entire progressive cause, so a faction of conservativism is now sliding rightwards, taking positions that old-time conservatives like Reagan, Buckley, and Sowell adamantly opposed.

And despite the shouts of “freedom” by those on the new far right, many of their positions are at odds with classic liberalism, and are a threat to our liberty.

  8. Let Me Be The First To Welcome Our New Chinese Overlords

Maurice Strong, Jean Chretien, Justin Trudeau, and a well-paid panoply of assorted other Laurentian traitors are waaaay ahead of the game on that one.

  9. Notice at the top of their page:

“The Globe and Mail _ FLASH SALE was: $7.99/week _ now $0.49/week”

    Commie news just doesn’t pay.
