Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Simpler to just name a virtual bridge from Vancouver to Vancouver Island “#%€£¥{}#%” which translates as “traditional Musquiem bridge”
When the last guilty white man leaves B.C. the Musquiem can fight the Chinese over it.
I for one pray to the Cascadia Subduction Zone.
Move over Wales.
We have it over here as well…creeks with 15 letters in the name that whitey doesn’t know how to pronounce nor care to learn. I’d bet dollars to donuts most of them don’t either.
Have you ever been to Wales?:

Briefly. English worked fine.
Funny. Fifty plus years ago I worked for a few months in Trawna. I lived in an old 3-storey house that had been converted into apartments on Indian Road. A few days ago I did a search to see what its new name was. Surprise, surprise – it’s still Indian Road.
Hey, Olivia! How can you let this disgraceful state of affairs continue!
My parents had friends that lived on Indian Road who we visited often when I was young. It and its hinterland is a nice area of Toronto.
I’ve been there subsequently quite often.
Yes. It was a nice area – High Park a stone throw away. But then again, most of Trawna was nice …. then.
What percentage on Indian road speak Hindi?
I only ask because the problem might have fixed itself.
You may be right. 🙂
They had to “take care of” Dundas first, to erase the memory of Jack’s fav handjob parlour.
These latter days make me think that we are somehow reliving aspects of the book of Genesis.
Sodom and Gomorrah – check
Tower of Babel – check
Cast out of Eden – checked out a long time ago
Flood? – next time fire
Oh, wait….
Fire can be your friend, you know!
…From a culture that, (I assume) communicated using Morse Code in the form of smoke signals, and now uses Wingdings as their alfabet??
For sure!!!
In Canada, the Indian giveth and the Indian taketh away.
Buddy … you DO make me laugh … a lot. And that is always appreciated.
PS … I have ZERO PC filter, so let er fly!
We’re going to get very sore throats pronouncing these new names. Excessive throat clearing cannot be healthy.
Heh,all those 15 digit symbols in an invented language translate to the same phrase..
In everyday English “Pompous Posturing Place”.
Otherwise known as Shitholia.
Or as the locals say..Turn left where the gas station used to be,go until past where the mall used to be and then turn left after the burned out 7 11…
Name of the street?
Who cares, you will know it when you see it..look for the boarded up houses and abandoned stores…
Shitholia…a new place name everywhere.
Musquiem – Mandarin word meaning “Great for Organ Harvesting”
Somebody needs to give these quacks a regular keyboard.
Evil, colonial white man’s alphabet with inverted vowels and misplaced commas. Or is it apostrophes? How the hell does one pronounce that?!
I believe you need to scoop up a handful of pebbles to put between the gums and your lower teeth to properly pronounce the unpronounceable.
Also Trutch Street in Vancouver has been renamed as to šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm Street, which translates to Musqueamview in English. The street signs show Indian and the English translation — below of course. Apparently Trutch had not been very nice to the Indians in the olden days.
Of course indigenous art was done up in concrete.
Bridges? No, they didn’t have them, and for fook’s sake couldn’t therefore name them.
