  1. So far the new spending is giving soldiers a raise, which does nothing for:

    1) readiness
    2) recruiting
    3) improving equipment
    4) replenishing stocks of ammo and arms that were sent to Ukraine.

    1. It will also result in a much heavier top as francophones must be put in place. The Canadian military is already top heavy because of that nonsense. My brother was a CO in one of the recruiting centres in Canada years ago….they had a big meeting at DND HQ in Ottawa and they were told that the test entrance requirements were lower for francophones than anglos. The question was asked…..”Why?” The answer was “cultural differences….that’s all you need to know”. Ottawa is full of absolutely useless officers. When I asked my brother was Majors do at DND HQ, he told me that they make coffee and walk around briskly with their “look busy kits” under their arm.

  7. For several weeks now my prediction has been an 80-100 billion deficit when it is finally reported. I would like to revise that to 100-120 billion

      You’ll have to go deep into the accounts to find out how much the debt increased, and for some reason it’ll be more than the reported deficit (again)

      4. You cannot hide the true deficit.. you just take this years total debt and subtract last years debt. But I’m not fooling myself either, they can lie about all of these numbers.. and they will.

  9. There was some chatter 1-2 weeks ago that President Trump was preparing an ultimatum for Canada regarding trade deals and such, it didn’t take long for the Peoples Republic of China to see his way of thinking, and the UK is onboard from a month ago.

    I doubt 2% of GDP to meet a NATO standard that tier 2 Canada hasn’t met since 1988 and which they cheat all the same by counting military pensions as part of that spending, is going to be enough for The President to accept Canada holding firm on the dairy tariffs.
    Canada insists on no more gasoline or diesel engines in 10 years. It was yesterday that Trump canceled that rule in the US.

  10. The jig was up the day they announced the budget for this fiscal year wouldn’t be tabled until September.
    The performative pretence will come at the G7, this is why Carney invited those not part of the G7 so he would be seen meeting with other heads of state.

There is an enormous amount of spending that has gone unaccounted for over the last ten years. The funny thing is while they worry about the 51rst state comments, the leadership is destroying the country .

  14. Just stop earning folks. If you can possibly avoid it, lower your income to subsistence levels. I’m going to retire early, convert my investments into dividends and live on $50-60k/year. This will net the feds nearly zero. If enough people did this, it would accelerate things nicely. Once the deficit reaches $150B -$200B the international community will step in and halt all lending to Canada and that’s when the s*** will really hit the fan.
