I remember a female native “elder” or chief or whatever she was in the pecking order, giving an interview and pointing out that an area where the media was going on about mass graves had been a cemetary where both natives and and non-natives were buried. She said it was common knowledge and some markers were gone due to age. I never saw her again on the news.
I’ve lived in BC for seven decades, and I am not aware of any marked graves from before first contact with Europeans. My beloved significant other is a status Indian, and she isn’t aware of any either.
So even if one unmarked grave were found at one residential school, centuries of native tradition were being adhered to there.

Recently I brought up the subject to my female Chinese hair stylist. She had revealed years ago that she was not college “educated”; I told her that it was obvious as evidenced by the amount of (not so common) common sense she has displayed over the years.

I wish we’d stop pretending like debunking this was some heroic act of investigative journalism. Anyone in the construction industry – anyone who’s ever watched a single episode of Time Team – could tell you instantly that the claims were false. The fact that they subsequently refused to release any of the GPR scans should have been the final nail in the coffin.

We are of course talking or should I say whispering because we don’t want everybody to know that the story of four years ago about a mass grave containing the remains of 215 native children in the grounds of government run Catholic school was a, wait for it… hoax.
As a result of the story, 85 churches were destroyed by arson, vandalize or desecrated. Not one human body has been found at the alleged gravesite despite $8 million being wasted, searching for bodies at the Kamloops Indian residential school. None of the media verified the allegations instead they just regurgitated the claim as fact. Trudeau ordered flags at half staff across the land. Native leaders called it an attempted genocide. The UN call on the Vatican to investigate. It was panic hyped up by the Natives and liberal elites.
It turned out that there were church cemeteries where some of the wooden crosses of individual graves had decayed and disappeared. The government of the day had refused to pay for permanent stone markers going with inexpensive wooden crosses. This is in no in no way a genocide. Most of this info was in the truth and reconciliation commission report released a decade ago.
There is not a shred of evidence of mass graves of genocide, it is a fiction. As for the burned and vandalized churches that is that is true and I don’t think anybody was arrested nor is there any ongoing investigation. If there is, I am not hearing about it on the CBC.

If there were unmarked graves, then the RCMP should have immediately blocked everyone’s access to the site to start recovering the remains because a crime had been committed.
But they didn’t, and unlike that tribe that wants a landfill dug up at a cost of $90 million, the tribe involved doesn’t seem all that interested in doing the same.
