My candidacy was confirmed officially on Tuesday. That same day, I tried to access my bank account and could not. I contacted my bank, Vancity, and was informed the account had been frozen as per direction from the government. I had accessed my account just two days prior, so the timing was clear. I had not been informed of this freezing by anyone — not the bank, not the government. No one attempted to contact me. I was completely blindsided.
When I contacted my bank they refused to give me any information beyond the fact they were following government orders, and they gave me a number and name to contact. I called the number, and got a voicemail saying the employee was on vacation all week. So basically this guy froze my bank account and immediately went on vacation.
The Liberal government will not talk about this. Neither will the Conservatives. If Liberal supporters were polled about whether they support the bank accounts of Canadians being frozen, is there any doubt they would be entirely on board, with responses like, “The government knows best. There must be a good reason.” It would be nice to think that Conservative supporters would be outraged but in 2025, who knows.
Canada has now joined the infamous club of the UK, France, Germany, and Romania, where political candidates with different views than the “official narrative” are being marginalized or worse. These are no long real democracies. You can pretend otherwise, but they’re simply not.

Banks are federally regulated in Canada, Credit Unions provincially.
And of course, the Cone of Silence is being applied on the issue.
She should be suing, since, on the surface, she’s done nothing criminal and it would force the issue.
The scary part is that this could happen to anybody if they get away with this. We know in the US, certain individuals have been debanked because they are conservative.
These issues need to be legally challenged. Banking in today’s age is mandatory to be able to function in normal society.

I was a big supporter of PV and I was really excited about him and I thought he was going to run a populist you know more libertarianleaning campaign and he hasn’t um I had hoped he was going to come out really strong against gender identity ideology in support of the convoy in opposition to the mandates like I thought he would talk about this in his campaigning in support of free speech and instead I feel like he kind of fell back and just leaned in towards the Liberals so I know that Canadians are putting a lot of hope and faith into him winning and kind of saving the country but I’m not sure I have that kind of faith because I think that Canadians have very short-term memories and even if things do improve um you know maybe in terms of the economy for example under PV I think I worry that the next election people will just go back to voting liberal again and we’ll just end up in the exact same place we were and I don’t think that PV is bold enough to make the changes that I think that we need to ensure that freedom reigns that our charter rights are protected that democracy remains intact in Canada yeah and and it is unfortunate you see the trouble is I see every politician as working for the establishment

As of today I’m calling this story bullshit. I see no reason to believe that anything has been done to this account, let alone illegally. If Murphy wants to tell us what happened, I’m listening, but she’s told us nothing reliable so far. She had a problem with her credit union account. The rest is made up, far as I can see.
Look, I don’t want to be unfair or hostile to Meghan Murphy, but having brought this matter to public attention she really should tell us what happened.
I don’t care whether it is Provincial or Federal lackies that are freezing bank accounts, of every day folks, it should never happen. Allegedly it was Carney that advised Trudeau/Freeland to freeze bank accounts. Since then I make a point of withdrawing all of monthly income on payday, with the exception of funds needed for pre-authorized payments like Hydro, and Internet.
