Down The Primrose Path

The people who quarterbacked the NATO side of the Ukraine war are so pleased with themselves, they can’t keep from boasting about things that will make the average American want to pitchfork the lot of them.

When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the White House nearly a month ago, the New York Times packed its pages with stories denouncing Donald Trump and J.D. Vance for abandoning Ukraine, and the impolitic “dressing down” of a friendly foreign leader. The Times like most Western news outlets for years suggested that anything short of a full-throated expression of support for war was a betrayal of the “democratic world order” that would lead to instant battlefield deaths.

Now that the war appears lost, and newspapers abroad (conspicuously, not here) are full of news about an apparent bombing of Vladimir Putin’s motorcade, and the future of NATO hangs by a thread, the Times has run a 13,000-word “Secret History” that shows the same U.S. officials who denounced Trump and American voters for saying it out loud long ago concluded that they, too, should probably “walk away.”

This is a must read. Buy a subscription if you must. There’s too much here to quote, but I’ll include this bit from nearer the end.

There are a hundred details in this “Secret History” that serve as stark warnings to anyone who thinks protection from Armageddon is secure in the hands of career military and intelligence officials. Not only did we allow ourselves to be “blackmailed” into escalating a conflict with a nuclear power, the management of the “partnership” broke down because of a Heathers-style spat between the key brass twits, Ukrainian general Valery Zaluhniy and Mark Milley.

When Milley second-guessed Zaluhniy, the latter would respond with teen-like silence, or by ghosting Milley’s next call. Underscoring: the country to which we were giving hundreds of billions in aid didn’t feel a need to pick up the phone.

I think this livestream is open audience.

  1. Why should they have answered the phone back then? The Davos crowd promised Big Z and his cronies virtual sainthood, if they would just continue to bleed the Russian army dry. Meanwhile, the deepstate orderlies who were charged with looking after the drooling vegetable in the whitehouse actively encouraged them to come boost another couple hundred billion in cash and prizes from his taxpayer wallet while he was passed out. They had it made.. but, then came the orange guy..

    1. ha ha ha !!!! hoooooWHEEEEE !!! diddly squat is predictable to a very confident level in politics. some orange guy keeps kicking the sandcastles down.

and unce agin, quoth The Bard: “the truth will out” (from Hamlet)

  2. The lesson Ukraine learned is the one dozens of other countries are learning to obtain and retain nuclear weapons. Any guesses whether South Korea has nukes? I suspect Japan will eventually realize it’s they only way to guarantee their existence. Only two countries have given them up, Ukraine and South Africa. Ukraine gave them up on hollow promises of defense by the UK and US. South Africa gave them up so sub Saharan Africans would hold the trigger. Canada and Denmark should acquire nukes to lessen American threats. Ukraine is stupid not to have acquired hundreds of nukes in the 11 years they have been at war with Russia. They certainly have the know how.

    1. You are repeating a lie. Ukraine never had nuclear weapons to give up. They were always under the control of Moscow. Or, if you like, Ukraine had nukes, just like South Dakota had nukes.

      1. Ork propaganda. Nukes did not belong to Moscow, nukes belonged to Soviet Union, with the collapse of Soviet Union they de facto belonged to whatever country’s territory they were on. Possession is nine-tenths of the law. Ukraine made a huge mistake and given the nature of Siberian beasts they should have known better.

        1. wrong again. they *happened* to be in Ukraine. did Ukraine at any time officially take possession? if someone drops their wallet or it gets stolen and someone drops the wallet on my front lawn is it now mine? and dont split hairs on this. the missiles belonged to the USSR when the USSR vanished who inherited EVERYTHING ELSE? the russian federation. so how are nukes an exception?

          1. Ukraine inherited army equipment, navy, air force, there was no reason not to inherit the nukes. Nothing belonged to russia and nothing should ever belong to russia to begin with.

      2. Ukraine never had control of nukes because it disavowed nuclear weapons at independence. It didn’t want them. Boris Yeltsin had no interest in the Ukraine and may very well have not forced Russian possession. How long do you think it would take for Ukraine to develop nukes, a year or two?

    2. “Ukraine gave them up on hollow promises of defense by the UK and US. South Africa gave them up so sub Saharan Africans would hold the trigger. ”

Ukraine never owned them (they had belonged to the USSR) and South Africa gave theirs up so the ANC couldn’t take control of them.

But you’re also the guy who thinks that Iran should be allowed to have nukes, aren’t you?

      1. “you’re also the guy who thinks that Iran should be allowed to have nukes”

Where’s that coming from? I think Iran should be nuked.

        1. ““you’re also the guy who thinks that Iran should be allowed to have nukes”

Where’s that coming from? I think Iran should be nuked.”

          Apologies, then. My bad…

    3. Japan has a combination guilty conscience and national PTSD state when it comes to nukes. they need to get over it, apply their spectacular technical finesse and build hyper fast hyper accurate missiles and a cpl thousand of them, mobile and all in secret.
then let it slip out to n korea and chirer (their only threat) thru the most most secret means, basically PROVE IT aaaaaaaand then deny the entire exercise as commie propaganda.

      one.

just one nuke to ever land on Japan again, they learned the lesson about itching for war they EARNED the right to defensive nukes. the ‘defensive’ kind that take out 97.4% of the opponent’s launch sites, carriers, air fields, knock out the 7 gorges dam system, etc.

    4. Ukraine never ‘had’ nukes.. they were Soviet. They chose to return them to Russia, and sign on to the NPT after they became independent. The Russians declined to ‘repatriate’ them, likely because they were fairly degraded (the fissile cores decay over time), and the US disposed of them as part of the START arms reduction treaty. The Bucharest Treaty wasn’t ever worth the paper it was drafted on, and simply stated that the signatories would respond id Ukraine was actually nuked, which Putin hasn’t done.. yet.. It would be unwise of them to violate the NPT, and likely get them nuked..

    5. SK and Japan are only the tip of the iceberg. Within a decade, max two, every country that can afford them will have them. Saudi Retardia and Turkey will get them in response to Iran. Egypt probably too. Greece in response to Turkey. Pakistan will increase its arsenal once Iran gores nuclear. Pakistan increasing will lead to India increasing. France and UK are bound to increase their arsenals as well. Poland will likely join possibly Germany too. In the Pacific with SK and Japan going nuclear, expect every major player doing the same: Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam being the obvious candidates. The perception of immediate arbitrary danger and the fall of anything resembling global order will only intensify. There is no putting this Genie back in the bottle anymore.

      1. ^ One to two decades provided that a major war in Central Europe can be avoided until then, which given the ambitions of the Siberian Mongol subhuman horde is unlikely. If that war cannot be avoided the push for nukes as well as chemical and biological weapons will be even more frantic.

      2. We wont buy nukes in Australia and neither will Canada. Both cucked nations with majority brain dead apathetic sheeple. Covid proved that

        1. You might not have a choice if your neighbors make it the new normal.

  3. 5 to 50% chance of nuclear war is ok.
(By the same people who unleashed the jab for a 0.01% flu)

  4. So … WHY is the TRUTH of this proxy war against that heteronormative Putin coming out now? Why are we learning what an utter shitshow the Slava Ukraina War truly was? There are many reasons.
    1. By finally declaring Putin has won, the lefties give Putin a whole lot more cards than Trump has to play in his peace negotiations. This TRUTH of a sweeping Putin victory is undermining Trump’s Peace negotiations.
    2. Plausible deniability for the duplicitous Slava Ukrainia Legacy media
    3. Plausible deniability of that punchable Jake Sullivan
    4. Plausible deniability of Gen Milley who didn’t receive return phone calls. Not HIS fault!
    5. Plausible deniability of a doddering Biden who didn’t actually get briefed on what was actually happening. Who was utterly clueless as he tried to read the teleprompter.

    Lots of plausible denials …

    1. What’s one of the first rules of misinformation/dezinformatsiya? Create new lies to replace the old ones.

  5. Who can blame Whatsisface for not picking up Milley’s call? He probably wanted to know about DEI iniatives, the availability of safe spaces for LGBTQ+ Azov battalion soldiers and explain about white rage.

  6. You have to be able to take and hold land to win a war.. Sneak attack Kursk aside.. I don’t see Ukraine doing much besides defending.. Shall we give them another billion or two while we wait for Putin to die of old age?.. And who is to say they next guy is going to peace dove?..

It ends with Zelensky on a slab or floating in a yacht in southern France.. Either way the war is about done..

  7. Does this mean no more serial postings from the serial Kill -Putin posters here on SDA? Will even THEY finally admit Russia has WON! That Ukraine has run out of proud citizens to kill?

We the level headed, intelligent Trump supporters have been honest and correct from day one. And ANYONE who is on the side of the likes of Jake Sullivan deserve to never be heard from ever again.

    1. “Will even THEY finally admit Russia has WON!”

At the rate Russia is conquering Ukraine, they will have the job done in about 1,000 years. That’s only if we don’t consider the Russian losses at Kiev, Kharkiv, and Kherson. If we consider them, Ukraine will conquer Russia in 1,000 years. Putin’s bum boys shouldn’t start cheering yet.

      1. Yeah, yeah … and Putin said he’d conquer Ukraine in 3 days … and Trump said he’d end the war in 1 day.

Those are very small numbers, yet the only numbers that any SANE person should consider is the number of DEAD Ukranian’s and Russians. Admit it … Ukraine has completely run out of bodies to throw into this meat grinder of a War. We Americans got FED UP after killing 50k of our boys in Vietnam … and there are at least 500k DEAD Ukranians in this shitshow.

And your IDIOTIC number of 1,000 years will result in how many more deaths? Here … I’ll do the math for you … 1M dead in three years expanded to 1,000 years = 1,000/3=333x1M =333M dead. Hence you are proudly cheering for WWIII.

Not with MY grandkids lives. You can go sacrifice your own damn people. And your own damn $$

  8. As Walter mentioned, the message here to take from the times article is, people get a hold of your
government as they will send you to your death without any thought if they will bare no consequences.
He also mentioned we have protests and burning of tesla while contemplating a 50 percent chance of strategic nuclear weapons.
Even here on this blog we lose the gravity of these types of situations, and tend to wonder if humanity is ultimately destined to destroy itself.

    1. As if that fact wasn’t already proven when the Democrat one-worlder Socialists unleashed COVID on the world … and when THAT didn’t ruin Trump … they stole the largest election in the history of the so-called FREE world.

And then they conspired to murder Trump.

Because these BEASTS are bent on silencing our voices … and eradicating our lives. Remember Trump stands for US … and THAT is the reason he and Musk’s lives are in danger.

  9. Fun watching the butt-hurt libtards lose their sh*t here.

  10. Here is an excellent commentary on the NYT article that attempts to whitewash the US proxy war in Ukraine …

New York Times Fantasy Tale of Ukraine’s Almost Great Victory Over Russia
    30 March 2025 by Larry C. Johnson
    https://sonar21.com/new-york-times-fantasy-tale-of-ukraines-almost-great-victory-over-russia/

” …Adam Entous of the New York Times just published a lengthy article that pretends to tell the true history of the war in Ukraine. I can summarize the massive story in one sentence — Ukraine would have destroyed the weak, incompetent Russians if only the Ukrainian generals had followed the guidance from the US military. If you’re looking for a signal that the war in Ukraine is on its last legs, this article is it. This is a ridiculous attempt to burnish the image of the Pentagon and US European Command as strategic and tactical geniuses who could have beaten the Russians if only those damn Ukrainians had followed their advice. …”
