That’s for today’s interflows, they are estimating that Ontario will be pulling power from Michigan intertie later today.
The other part of the equation, the current power price is $2.56/MWh, which is the power cost, and a global adjustment cost (which covers generator shedding, readiness, and paying other locations to take our power) at an estimated $41.09/MWh.

BC is a net importer of Lectricity as well, from the US, and AB for that matter. This from a province with a brand new Site C dam. That only adds 8% power to the grid when it is fully generating capacity in July this year.
BC is also a net importer of gasoline, diesel and AV gas. Substantially. Hmmmm, no threats to cut off doze dam Yanks from NG though, wonder why? But hey, Red State Likker BAD!

I have been involved in micro solar energy (solar, back up battery etc.) for about twenty years. It is well known in the energy sector that Ontario produces more power than it uses. Electricity goes to the nearest load. Our interdependence with the US grid means that sometimes we draw power from the US and other times we send power to the US at well discounted rates. A vivid illustration of that interdependence is the massive power failure in 2003 that shut down the entire eastern grid (caused by a squirrel in the eastern US); large parts of Ontario and Quebec lost power for days).
This information is easily available for the interested through agencies like the IESO. It is astonishing (well maybe not) that the leader of our province does not have people that know this. I suspect they do. Doug Ford is either badly informed or mendacious.
Lastly our electrical grid for all the talk of investment etc. is in bad shape- yet another reason we depend our integrated grid with the US.
Cutting the flow of power to the US will cause harm to both countries.

Back in the late 90’s I was an engineer working for a CAW unionized factory in Hamilton Ontario. When the workers wanted an afternoon off with pay, someone would chuck their lunch on one of the transformers – inevitably resulting in a power outage and fried squirrel.
While living in Omaha, there was a squirrel living in one of my aged oaks that had gotten involved with electricity somehow and lived to tell about it. It had a white jagged line of fur going up its body while part of its tail was bare. I fed it almonds and other nuts so it could get through the winters. Squirrels with bare tails in the Northern Plains would struggle.
Ex-Michigan Yank here. I can assure you that “Michigan” has enough power sources to fully weather any Ford actions. New England might have issues ’cause of their politics, but that is easily addressed?
I’m also puzzled why a Ont PM thinks he has that much power to cut supplies to the States. Seems to me that there are international treaties that cover this? And of course, if there are damages, I’m sure he’ll be sued in an AMERCIAN!!! court.
Tech-wise, I ponder how a Canadian in Canada can shut down American power? How does that work? Cause there is a “Grid” and that includes most of North American power generating entities, and if one source fails to keep up, the rest kick in? He confuses that blackout situation with the ability to shut down power?
Canada shipping electricity below cost to the US? Shut down the excess capacity. Carney would much rather do that and jack up domestic prices
Every time we have a sunny, windy day we -pay- the American to take excess (wind and solar) power off our grid. Every time we have a cold, still night, we draw power from the USA at a sweet, sweet premium.
