Deporting immigrants simply means that a lot of these jobs disappear completely as opposed to being staffed by Americans. The fact is that the productivity of the average American worker is insufficient to justify employing them in many of these job categories (which often involve a lot of unpleasant, brute physical labor) in the first place. If productivity levels were the same, Americans would already be doing those jobs. As is the case with minimum wage legislation, you can force an employer to pay more but you can’t force them to refrain from layoffs, cutting hours, replacing workers with robots, or closing the business entirely.
True, but if they really want someone to clean their toilets then they will have to pay more.
In Australia Cleaners get about twice minimum wage and the women who hold signs saying stop, give way etc on the side of the road are getting 5 figures or close to it.
The jobs that do pay minimum wage like fruit pickers etc tend to rely on students and a lot of people on temporary working visas.
Yes some jobs will be lost but better Americans actually get a wage they can live on then the jobs go to immigrants.
The could hire laid off media types.
Or laid off federal workers.
That would be a bad choice. Those people would be useless.
I have two degrees and the equivalent of a post doctoral fellowship. I spent nine years in the Canadian army and I speak several languages. I’m one of those top one percent earners. I’ve mowed plenty of lawns and cleaned plenty of toilets. And when I do hire someone to do some of those things for me, I pay them a decent wage. Get over yourselves you scum sucking, self-righteous, condescending, arrogant, worthless, racist, intolerant, holier-than-thou, hypocritical liberal #@!& smears.

We were on a cruise in October, had a drink with a couple of old bats, and when it came around to politics, they were full TDS, and stated “how could he deport the immigrants, someone has to mow the lawns and do the gardens!”
I was flabbergasted. They really do love their slave class.
I would say that the Democrat north were just as much slave owners as was the south. Remember Lincoln was a butcher; over 600,000 lives lost because he wouldn’t let the south separate. It initially had nothing to do with slavery.
