It’s notable that this guy is a former vice chief of the defense staff. The fact that such people get promoted to the highest positions in government explains a lot when it comes to the state this country is in. What Canada needs right now is serious critical thinking, not an unrelenting bromide stream and appeals for national suicide.
I submit we are under attack and more significantly, so too is the global system upon which our security and prosperity are based. In response we need to rapidly deploy all available instruments of national power with maximal effect. This may need to include otherwise previously unthinkable actions such as shutting off our oil and gas, electrical power and critical supplies, as well as the abandonment of historic diplomatic and military relationships and commitments. We must also convince our other allies — those kids on the sidelines of the schoolyard — that they too have a responsibility to act as they are at risk as much as we are.

The Vice Chief of the Defense Staff Of The Flies would break down into a blubbering mess if he ran into an adult on his island.
I think we should send the Vice Chief on a special mission…
A kamikaze attack across the Whirlpool Rapids bridge with full Rambo gear… including .30 Cal bandoliers draped over his forearm…
Lead the charge O’ Intrepid One…
We are right behind you… we all roll our eyes sit down at the bars in Niagara Falls and say a toast to his sacrifice…
What prosperity would that be Librano? You have a source of funds not available to ordinary taxpayers? Of course you do, you are part of this corrupt government.
Whoa.
Nice analogy Norman.
Maybe you don’t know Jack.
Why does Mr. Norman cite NATO for Canada’s defence when it’s been widely reported that Canada is one of the dead beat dads of NATO after promising 2% of GDP and consistently spending 0.5% less than that each year since 1988, and not keeping their promise to spend 20% of that on equipment?
Is he taunting our new President of the USA?
Does Mr. Norman want all the other countries of the world to know that Canada doesn’t keep its promises? That although “they try” … it’s not quite the same as “they do”?
Should one be threatening the severing of a military relationship while so underfunding one’s own?
Is Mr. Norman aware that much of Western Europe still depends upon the NATO relationship he’s putting on the table as a negotiating tactic, and is still dependent upon America’s promise to uphold NATO’s Article 5 while they too, grotesquely underfund their military spending?
Calling Beijing, come in Beijing. Should I write a column in one of our state controlled publications.
I’m glad these people are telling us who they are, actually.
Delusional partisan Liberals must be identified and put in their place. Like Harper, who said ‘any price’, assuming that means burn it all down.
DELUSIONAL
“We must also convince our other allies — those kids on the sidelines of the schoolyard — that they too have a responsibility to act as they are at risk as much as we are.”
Hilarious. Pretending that Canada is some kind of leader while others are holding back.
Why do these people never bring up what China has done to Canada?
Ugh… had some sympathy for this guy when the Liberal racist Party screwed him over, but I guess his payoff was really good so now he can jump on their bandwagon of stupidity…
“I submit we are under attack and more significantly, so too is the global system upon which our security and prosperity are based.”
The whole point of the Trump election is that that system is unsustainable and has been screwing civtizens over for decades. Prosperity? Mr Norman referenced the speech at the security conference by the VP, Vance. Maybe he didn’t hear the comments regarding the present policies of much of Europe regarding freedom of speech, citizens’ rights and immigration. Cancelled elections too. Call these people for help?
In addition, Trump probably has a hate-on for Canada because he believes the Liberals conspired with the Democrats to develop vote-stealing technologies (through Dominion) and therefore Canada is partly responsible for everything he has gone through since 2021.
Canada’s ruling class is trash and Trump and co. can smell it.
It feels like we’re living in times before something big is going to happen. Like Romania in 1989 or something.
Trump has access to all the intel, and probably has a good idea as to who is corrupted.
Agreed.
Canada imagines itself a vassal of the EU. The EU is overtly anti-Anerican, and has been since its founding. The Francophilic, Quebequoise wing that Trudeau favors is a staunch proxy engaged in furthering Paris’ and Brussel’s economic and political agendas in North America. None are friends to American freedoms and low taxes.
We have been technically at war with Canada since Trudeau prorogued the nation’s congress and nominated the overt anti – American Carney to fill his seat.
Looks like the velvet gloves are coming off! Good.
I have two questions for Vice Chief Mark Norman——How far away is the Canada of today from the Canada that took Vimy Ridge and How far are we away from the Second World War when Hitler referred to Canadians as “Storm Troopers “?
When he ponders these and comes up with the answer he will realize why President Troop is doing what he’s doing!
He wants to shut off our oil and gas, electrical power and critical supplies???
What does he think, that they wouldn’t react? A lot of oil comes from the US to the eastern provinces. BC gets 20% of its electricity from the US. And then there’s all that food that continuously comes up from the US. Those would be shut off immediately.
And if they absolutely cannot go without our oil, gas and electrical power, well they have the most powerful, most advanced military in the world. Need I say more?
What an idiot.
Agreed, been saying the same thing. What makes these elitist twits think the Americans won’t do whatever they have to do, to turn on the taps, re-open the valves, and hit the switch? “Invade” to each critical source of power, secure it, and re-enable.
“But they’re our friends”. Except that the Canadian morons decided first they wanted to screw their friends. I keep telling anybody that will listen, if you want to feck around with the Americans, they will kick your ass sideways to get their way, and then do it again for fun.
There’s some scary parallels to the Russia-Ukraine situation, in that the pea brains here have a delusional idea that they can take on the Americans successfully. DEE LOO SIONAL.
FAFO
“I submit we are under attack and more significantly, so too is the global system upon which our security and prosperity are based.”
Yes, we are absolutely, 100% under attack. Canada — its prosperity, its values — has been under attack by Liberal party values for a generation now, just as the global system upon which the West’s security and prosperity are based is currently under attack by their global cohort in Europe and Australia.
All of a sudden, now, due to events in another country, it’s all being exposed. And everybody’s acting like that drawing back of the curtain is the source of the problem.
The ilk who created the mess in Canada, and made every effort to turn the country into a geopolitical vacuum with no culture, should shut up, step the [expletive] aside, and open up parliament.
Norman seems to have decided to identify himself as part of the problem, which should be obvious when he admits that he was part of the government who shirked our agreed NATO requirements.
Yup.
I had some sympathy for this fellow when Ottawa was working him over.
Now I wonder of he did not bring it on to himself.
This is a former Vice Admiral, yet he thinks we can play hardball with America,with..
No financial reserves.
No army.
Ships with pop guns.
Self sinking submarines.
And a national debt of which the debt servicing now cost more than Healthcare..the #1 myth of Can Ahh Duh.
More takers than producers…
And no way to get our most valuable exports to “alternative markets”.
No wonder our Military is naked.
We are so weak, that President Trump sees a once in a lifetime opportunity.
If he joins Montana to Alaska..
Legend.
And if he fails (Assuming such an ambition) he still gets to troll the pious hypocrites of Canada mercilessly.
All the wailing and snivelling aside.
If Ottawa did not expect anyone to exploit the current state of Canada, are any of them fit to be in office?
Fools and Bandits.
This is what they do to a nation.
Verily. Nature abhors a vacuum, and all that.
Now these twits are telling us “Its an emergency”.
maybe it is.
But they brought us to this state.
And if they say “Emergency” I say resign ..
They have no honour to do so.
At least Chamberlain had honour to step aside for Churchill, at a time of national emergency.
Today’s politicians are cowards and fools, full of bravado, but all hat, no cattle
Chanberlain resigned when his party told him they couldn’t maintain enough support. The party was divided over Churchill succeeding Chamberlain, accepting Churchill’s appointment was the price for other paties’ support for s coalition government to continue the war.
Get your useless clueless selves out of the way,so I may recruit some adults..
Adults to clean up this mess..
One gifted to us by decades of stupid children play acting in Ottawa.
Well that was weird.
The complete post and then those last 4 lines got the “Forbidden” message.
Yet every line posted separately..
If somewhat out of sequence.
Juthtin and his band of gerbils has destroyed Canada so that there is nothing left to defend. The graveyards of France and Belgium are full of Canadians, Americans, British and many others who fought for freedom only to have these monsters take it away.I believe president Trump is the o ly hope for the free world.
Everything the armed forces has bought in the last 5 yr is to fight its own citizens.
If u think this country can build 12 submarines to ‘Defend” the Arctic for less than 10 billion is nuts.
The Irwrings will take that contract every day.lol
It’s notable that this
guygay is a..…person of far greater accomplishment than you’ll ever be.
All the Hinges are Off.
It is shocking that vigorous negotiation is so disorienting to Canada’s rich and powerful.
In the same way that words are now equated with physical violence, Trump’s work to achieve border security, with words only, is somehow now inflated to the level of a regime-threatening military attack.
Sorry Canadians, your leaders are elsewhere in their heads.
He is literally talking about annexation of Canada and the Panama Canal and has ginned up some borderz dangerous BS out of nothing to justify it.
Vice Admiral….of what? The glorified bell hops at NDHQ.
He could deepen his awareness of the world and especially Canadians by tuning into
Small Dead Animals daily….it would be a start.
Someone who cuts and runs when they could have gone all in and made a difference to a whole country is not someone to lecture others on standing up to perceived “bullies”! I doubt Rick Hillier would have bent the knee and taken the settlement in the same situation. But, Norman? He’s OK, Jack. He got his!
Seriously, if you combine all of Europe’s military might with Canadas the best they could come up with is California’s National Guard or less. Yea Trump is quacking in his boots.
He’s wrong about the specifics but right about the big idea: the relationship can’t be saved and more so shouldn’t be. The US can’t even understand its own interests.
The Liberals offered Norman some sleazy deal to appeal to Canada’s tranny military for help by writing this screed and he jumped at the offer. They have a lot to hide and are in fear for their lives. Hey Laurentian Elite, go ahead and ask China for some nuclear deterrent, you know you want to. That oughta teach Trump a lesson.
