Canada’s basic problem is not Trump; rather, it is that the inmates are now running the asylum.
The collective response of Canada to the expected Trump tariffs was then, predictably, declared to be a negative one involving the imposition of counter-tariffs.
Premier Doug Ford stated that counter-tariffs would be Ontario’s primary response, even before it was known what specific tariffs Trump was proposing. Premier David Eby of B.C. hysterically proclaimed that his province was preparing for “economic war” with the U.S. And Liberal leadership candidate Chrystia Freeland — the former finance minister who left the country with a $60-billion deficit and whom Trump most likely regards as the Canadian equivalent of Kamala Harris — trumpeted that she was the best person to lead Team Canada in its future relationship with the U.S.
Has anyone in the media asked Premier Ford how Canada’s tariffs will help alleviate the Canada-US border refugee or fentanyl problem?
Has anyone in the media asked Premier Ford or Eby or PM The Turd™ or Chrystia Freeland how these tariffs will help fend off the “economic war” at hand?
I suspect if the counter tariffs were raised from 25% to 100% we’d find it didn’t do all that much for the Canada-US border refugee or fentanyl problem. Has anyone in the media asked those gov’t types in Canada who are so willing to sacrifice our economic future, if the general idea is to kneecap our economy to such a degree that the refugees will stop trying to access our country for our poor economic condition, and clearly the fentanyl dealers will be out of the market as we’ll be too broke to source quality fentanyl to get high as all get out and escape our economic wasteland.
You see what they’re doing, and you think to yourself: “Self, they must really -need- all those foreigners and drugs to keep their scam going. Look at everything they’re doing to keep the taps open.”
On the one hand, over a million ‘refugees’ and ‘students’ all come from India. But on the other hand they’re going to send 300,000 Ukrainians home? And now they want to get into a trade war with the USA instead of doing what we are screaming for them to do?
Maybe Mr. Trump knows something, and he’s decided there needs to be regime change in Canada. Like he knows who’s giving the orders in Canada, and it ain’t Parliament. Like it is so very much worse than we think.

This thread on X this morning was revealing. It connects the dots between cartels, casinos, real estate and money laundering through Canada and its banks. All of it happening with governments and law enforcement deliberately turning a blind eye, or worse. If true, it would be the biggest scandal in Canadian history.

Canada needs to understand how our own weak and corrupt leaders have caused this problem. We are doing the precise wrong thing to correct the problem. Things will go from bad to worse under the Liberal regime.
The scandal is too big for Canadians to want to confront. It would destroy their image of their country that sees itself as a peaceful, law abiding nation. To have to deal with the reality that it’s economy has more in common with a Latin American narco nation than a boy scout first world nation would be crushing.
Then process the idea that our housing and affordability crisis may be directly linked to rampant money laundering, “The Vancouver Model”. That our governments either through ignorance or corruption have allowed organized crime to infiltrate and flourish in Canada. That our media have somehow “missed” this blatantly obvious news story for decades.
Unfortunately, you can’t fix a problem without first acknowledging its existence. It’s easier to pretend it doesn’t exist.
My Assumption at this point is that anyone beating the drum to take on the Americans, somehow benefits from the various corrupt activities in canada.
The minister says the problem is minuscule. If so, meeting President Trump’s demand is easy. So why not just take care of it?

I recall that Trump’s other issue… perhaps his main issue…was Canada’s committed contribution to NATO was low by $600 million a year which had to be made good by the US. He reconned that the proceeds from a 25% tariff would help make up the shortfall. Surely the Liberals can find 1% of our annual deficit to satisfy his reasonable request. Then I bet the tariff threat would mostly go away.
I can’t vote but I’m all for Chrystia Freeland. She’ll show Orange Man Bad who ‘s the boss. After all, she’s the only one who has negotiated trade with the U.S. Yeah, she got her @$$ handed to her and she didn’t even know it. But, by golly, she has experience!
The U.S. benefits by having Kanada’s Kamalala as PM so Americans can see the bullet they dodged.
