  1. Liberals welcoming the opportunity to burn Canada to the ground more quickly, which they have been in the process of doing, and now thrilled they can blame Trump.

Easterners will lap this right up.

    We need to separate.

      1. I believe the norm is a referendum followed by a unilateral declaration of independence.
If it comes to it, see Panama circa 1903.

    1. “Everything is on the table”…
Except enforcing our own laws against Fentanyl labs and illegal immigration, which would make this whole thing go away.

      1. Most of the fentanyl comes directly from China, via the 640 million small packages that come direct from China each year and are under the U.S. customs de minimis criteria (less than $800 value) and thus pay no duty, nor are they inspected. 91 million such packages from Canada each year.

Canada will have very little to any effect on Chinese shipments of fentanyl to the US

      2. Exactly First Timer! What is the actual problem in coordinating border security with the USA? So it’s gonna be RED vs BLUE?

        1. It’s already coordinated. There’s nothing to secure. It’s also not about border ‘security’: Trump is just an idiot who doesn’t understand trade.

          1. With a few well-chosen jibes, Trump knocked out Trudeau, and accomplished what he wanted to accomplish. I’d say he understands quite a bit, including that the main value of a tariff lies in its threat, not in its imposition.

          2. So… the border does not need securing. Did I hear that right, UnReal?
Trump doesn’t understand trade? Really? UnReal!!!
Better watch where you throw your stones, UnReal. I suspect you’re living in a glass house.

          3. Trump’s a billionaire property developer and president of the United States with a supermodel wife and you’re a random commenter on a small Canadian blog, probably living in your parents basement. But Trump’s an idiot. Well okay I guess.

          4. “It’s already coordinated. There’s nothing to secure. It’s also not about border ‘security’: Trump is just an idiot who doesn’t understand trade.”

Sure, just another one of those idiot billionaires that we read so much about, right?

    2. Imagine how stupid one would have to be to cut of energy exports to the US. Do these idiots not know that it is a two way street?

      1. It will only hurt Alberta as far as the vote rich areas of Kanada are concerned. The GTA will be so impressed it re-elects the Lieberals.

    1. If we ever get a government working in the national interest it might actually happen one day.

    2. The only sensible thing you have ever typed. The obstacle is the Liberal Party. They slow walk, regulate, study, consult, impose new conditions until the investors move on and find new projects. This is deliberate.

    3. Hey Unme – Seems the last one was originally priced at about 6 billion and when completed cost about 30 billion dollars. And was how late??
Perhaps you should negotiate with the indigents and the “Saviours of the planet?”

  2. Should the liberals stuff on the table cause the cessation of energy exports to the USA come to pass, I wonder how Madam Melonhead Joly would respond to a unilateral secession from Ms Smith? This would almost be a wet dream come true!!!

    1. The RCMP would arrest the lot of them. Alberta doesn’t even have its own provincial police force.

  3. No one cares what the Crescent Street Whore says about anything. People in Washington are not stupid. They know very well that Canada does not have a functioning federal government right now. So they will simply wait until Canada does have a federal election, and the Liberals are vaporized. Then and only then will they have a government worth discussing anything. What the US will do is hold discussions with elected provincial premiers to clear a lot of potential side issues out of the way to simplify discussions with Poilievre & Co. when they form a new federal cabinet.

So it doesn’t matter what the Crescent Street Whore says. Canada’s parliament is in permanent shutdown for months to come. Hence, no government, no ability to pass any kind of legislation. And until it does, no one in Washington will waste time talking to her.

    1. And we don’t much care for your thoughts or opinions on Alberta’s future either. I sure do hope you freeze in the dark.

      1. Your opinions are worthless in the face of facts. It matters not a good Goddam what you think of my opinions. All of you Alberta separatists are losers who have not the slightest idea of how to implement what they claim they want.

          1. as am i . came across my Western Canada Concept baseball hat the other day . i think makes me a separatist for 45 Years??

          2. Aye, that’s right. Canadian patriots! Target this guy! Don’t mind the rest of us, we’re harmless.

  4. Choosing the dumbest way possible to respond to Trump’s negotiating tactics will harm canada and canadians the most, very Liberal racist of them…

    1. The Liberals have wanted to shut down the Alberta oil industry for some time.

This will let them do it.

      1. – right up until Alberta becomes the 51st State.

        ” – Well, YOU CAN’T DO THAT!” “Uh-huh…” -_-

        FAFO

          1. I’d hate to agree with UnReal, but I suspect he is correct on this point
I will say, however, that something is going to give. Canada may not become part of the U.S. (as much as I would like it to be), but the relationship will change somehow. I suspect that Kevin O’Leary has Trump’s ear.

          2. For a bit of backroom-dirty-deals, Trump gave a press conference where he explained what his Canada’ism is all about. He has a $40 trillion national debt to deal with, and the U.S. has lots of everything they get from Canada – even their softwood is clabbered by eco-regulations, and he can annul them with one executive order (especially as the Spotted Owl is being driven out of its habitat by Barred Owls, not loggers). As an example, Canada makes 20% of U.S. cars, and he’d rather make them in Detroit – hard to argue with that, considering what a $hithole Detroit has become and how much good returning auto jobs would do for the city.

So he is going to address his $200 billion/year trade deficit by slapping substantial tariffs on Canada – he said he wouldn’t mind the deficit if it was going to a U.S. State but he isn’t going to pay it to a foreign country. We’re not the only ones in the spotlight; his trade deficit with the EU is $350 billion/year, and he’s going after them too – though as the Ukraine war dawdles-on, the U.S. can likely make-up a whole lot of that with LNG sales – but I suspect it’s bad news for Mercedes, BMW and VW.

The effect on Canada is to chisel $300 billion/year out of the federal budget (yeah, the Can$ is 60ish cents at the moment, which makes it actually >$300 billion). So kiss your social programs goodbye – and if you think $hit is expensive now, wait for it. The one really ugly knock-on I foresee is that P.P. is gonna’ have to go “full Milei” on the budget, strip-out whole Ministries and cancel the fluff wholesale – and then, just like happened with Harpo:

            1) the LIE-berals make an unholy mess of the economy,

            2) the CON-servatives get elected in a landslide, chisel some sort of sense out of the economy and pi$$-off all the ‘under-employed’ voters with cuts to services, and then

            3) next election, the LIE-berals wax outraged at how “those heartless conservatives are starving Grandma”, get re-elected in a landslide after one term out of power, and we’re stuck with them for fifteen more years.

Anybody else seen multiple repetitions of this pattern within living memory?

    2. The collectivist liberal puppets & their Laurentian elite puppeteers are all crazier than rabid syphilitic outhouse rats. Not a metaphor.

    3. “Choosing the dumbest way possible to respond to Trump’s negotiating tactics will harm canada and canadians the most, very Liberal racist of them…”

Exactly. Be smart about this….the stakes are too high to just play politics.

  5. Good interview by Vassy….at 2:02 in the interview she tells Joly “That is not the narrative”.

  6. All this squabbling simply confirms the theory that leftists have no sense of humor.

  7. If AB has the quickest referendum ever, and announces their independence from tier 2 Canada, the gig will be up at midnight when the new sheriff / President of the United States of America recognises the new federal state of Alberta, and asks Premier Smith, will you be needing some temporary security enhancements from our forces?
Holy crap I’m starting to sound like I’m at one with the invasion of Canada Post from 2 days ago here…

Then, the rest of tier 2 Canada and their non functioning federal gov’t may go back to their drawing board to figure out how low their dollar will go, while 1000’s express their desire to visit Washington DC to kiss the ring.

The RCMP has 22,000 sworn unionized members of their force. There will be significantly more than that number of Albertans to arrest. Are they going to abandon policing the 80% of Canada which wasn’t stuck in AB? Even with the help of tier 2 Canada’s military, it simply doesn’t add up to the groundswell of hatred to the federal gov’t here now.

So go for it, garbage #Libranos
If the #Libranos thought they’ll out tough the Premier of AB and or the new sheriff in the USA, they’re actually insane, as well as being garbage.

    1. Are the #Libranos going to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5? Are the #Libranos aware that it’s winter in Ontario?

I think it’s important to mention here too, Premier Smith was meeting for 2 days with President Trump, on Saturday evening, and Sunday morning.
The Turd™ stayed for a few hours, and had to find his own accommodations after that meeting.

Tier 2 Canada may discover that realpolitik will carry the day, as to them not liking it… that’s not our problem.

      1. The muzzie vote in her riding will shift the balance. They will either support her or sink her.

She has not distinguished herself in any portfolio. She is part of the Demarais stable of potentials tho.

  8. 8 Days.

President Donald J. Trump has said there are +100 executive orders ready to be signed on Monday 20 January 2025

Premier Smith will be at the inauguration as well. That will be 3 days in these 10 days if anyone in the federal gov’t is counting.
We can’t ship 4 million barrels to the eastern coast, but we sell 4 million barrels to the USA.
Why are we paying for the eastern province’s well being while they advocate against us?

    1. Of course she is. She’s barely competent to be a whore on Crescent Street in Montreal. Joly is the dimwit who’s been running “Global Affairs” for the past several years. This dimwit imagines that she will be part of Canada’s negotiating team with Washington. She is the perfect definition of ’empty-headed bimbo’.

      1. Looks like a blonde haired cast off of Maggie. If she and Jagmeet have a love child, he will be ready to run Canada into the ground in another 30 years.

  9. I’m watching subtitles with no sound so I don’t wake everybody up…did Joly actually say “Prime Minister Leblanc” or is it just wonky voice recognition?

  10. If you exclude oil and gas shipments, Canada has a trade deficit of over $50 billion with the U.S.

If the US doesn’t want to trade, then we should hit all US made goods and services entering Canada with a 25% tariff.

    1. No that’s dumb that just means everything here gets more expensive. Let the US burn itself to the ground. Don’t ‘retaliate’ through mutual self-immolation.

      1. Honestly, I believe that is the most sensible comment of yours I have read on this site. I guess even a blind squirrel gets a nut now and then!

      1. And throws rocks at airplanes, like some (unmentioned) poster here at SDA
        Double entendre intended…

      2. “Anybody who thinks Canada can win a trade war with the U.S. has rocks in their head.”

It apparently makes for a great fantasy, though…

  11. Joly is continuing with the scorched earth tactic of the LPC. They know they are few months from being out of government for the next 4 years so they might just as well make it as ugly as they can for PP. They could care less what happens to Canadians as a result.

    1. All the more reason for PP to forego parliamentary niceities and launch criminal forensic investigations of the Turd’s government. No stone left unturned. Liberals and their cronies perp walked. We need proverbial heads on pikes as a warning to future governments that they’d better serve its citizens, not themselves.

  12. If our WEF CCP Liberal/NDP Government would simply be declared a terrorist organization a lot of these problems would be easy to solve.

  13. Of Canada’s approx. $440 billion exports to the USA, 25% is in the form of crude petroleum. Next is autos, then processed crude.

Imagine a world where the Eastern Canadian elite ban crude exports to the USA, America signs a deal to reinvigorate Venezuela’s massive heavy crude reserves, Alberta starts to separate from Canada with its now land-locked crude oil and B.C. won’t allow a pipeline to the west coast and Quebec won’t allow one to the east coast. America also stops importing autos from Canada (or makes it cheaper to build them in the US due to tariffs) and the elite include processed petroleum products (mainly from Ontario).

That is a country I would be emigrating from.

Or … Canada could relax and wait until Trump gets into power to find out what he really wants (hint: a better deal with China).

  14. Can you imagine the cost to Ontario.

If Trudeau laps a 25% tariff on gas and oil out of Alberta going to the States, then when it gets to line 5 Trump will whack another 25% tariff on it before its returned to Ontario and Quebec.

    Wow !!!!

  15. Good for Danielle Smith. The libranos have attempted to wipe out the oil & gas industry. She is defending Canada’s most important product and the one commodity that will get Trump’s attention.

  16. There’s Line 5 that runs around the northern end of Lake Michigan, but also Line 6 that runs around its southern end. Both go back into Canada at Sarnia, ON, and Lines 7 and 9 run from there to Toronto and Montreal. All Trump has to do is sign an executive order closing both of them at the border at Sarnia, keeping the oil in the US. That would leave millions of Canadians with big shortages of gas and diesel and, I think, propane. Ottawa would get an overdose of the real world for a change.

    1. I guess if it comes to that Canada shuts in the line before it crosses into the US. If that happens Canada will be in the deep end of a deep pool.

I don’t think any of this stuff will take place. The stakes are just too high for both countries. Canada tho is going to have to put it’s adult pants on. The game we have been playing with the US is over. Start paying our way. Secure borders. Fix immigration. Fund a modern the military. Grow up.

  17. Any country that elects the likes of Trudeau, juvenile enough to be caught on tape mocking Trump, deserves all the fun attention that Trump is lavishing on it.

I can hear the shudders and it’s more than time that Canada got a big wake up call.

Don’t think Trump wants a failed Canada but if he really does, we can always go back to the Liberal Way of making Canada another yellow star on the Chinese flag.

    1. I agree. Canadians need to grow up and grow a pair. We have lived rent free in America’s attic for many years and act like spoiled teenagers when America applies a bit of tough love. Trudeau and his ilk with their cring-worthy rhetoric and world view have humiliated Canadians in the eyes of the world. We punched above our weight in WW2 but today we couldn’t punch our way out of a wet paper bag. That is why I fly the Red Ensign rather than the Maple Leaf on my flag pole and will continue to do so until some pride is restored in my homeland.
