  1. Adam Carolla at approximately 28 minutes describes the problems people will have rebuilding.

He says three years from starting the permit process until the first load of lumber get dropped off.

Also many along the coast may not be allowed to rebuild. A whole bunch of rich people, 80% of which voted Democrat, are going to get pissed at 9 angry lesbians who are deciding their future.

As he says. they voted for this sh*t, now they’re going to care.

  2. Commenting on the very end of the Carolla cast.

OK Gavin, let’s assume these fires are caused by climate change.SDA readers, I know climate change is not the cause, but bear with me for a minute.

What Gavin are you going to do about it?
Electric leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and electric cars won’t change a thing. China and India have each just started up a new coal plant, undoing all your CO2 mitigation.

So Gavin what will you do?

You’re not willing to clear out underbrush.
You don’t have enough water to put out these fires.
You continue to have electric wires running through or near trees, which cause more fires.
Fire departments also report the fires originate with homeless encampments, yet you continue to welcome more homeless.

I suppose you could build more homes, but that’s just more fodder for fires which regularly start during high winds.

    Perhaps fewer houses?

I know a high speed train. That will stop the fires!!!

But even then the fires will still occur every few years, just as they have for centuries.

Time for Californians to ask tough questions of their government. And turf em all.

    1. the responses if any will give us insight into the processes and mechanisms embedded in a leftist brain. do not expect common sense in any meaning of THAT word.

  3. Libtards all. Hope they awaken at some point and shake their collective heads. Sad to see flames take out your homes but to cry about losing their homes when it was all avoidable but for Cali dictates regarding under growths just reeks. FU Adam.

  4. I’ve lived in CA long enough to know they never should have populated southern CA. Every year it shakes up, drys up, burns up and washes away. There are people trying to turn this into a conspiracy like Maui, it’s not. The insurance was cancelled because smart actuaries correctly assessed the risk to the company in a state that has become too hostile for business. The insurance commission has made regulations that prevent them from raising the rates enough to offset the costs, so they have been cancelling policies and pulling out of the state for a few years now. The land and water use regulations prevent them from doing any thing to reduce the dangers. The water systems are overburdoned and poorly maintaned while they are “reclaiming” dams. They blame climate change, but sneer at those who say “then we need to adapt”. Karma’s a b!+(#.

  5. And Carolla touched on the subject of crumbling infrastructure. How TRUE is that!!?? California’s highways and roads … whether they are supposed to be maintained by the State (Cal Trans) or local Cities/Counties … are utter shit! I have hit potholes in CONCRETE freeways (880 thru Oakland) that nearly took the wheel off the rim. Every … every mile of CA roadways are an alligatored mess crumbling to pieces. Why? Deferred and inadequate maintenance. Why? Because $0.45 of every tax dollar in CA goes to Gold Plated Public pensions. The worst offenders? “First Responders” who are getting paid high $6-figure Pensions after retiring at age 50 with a “disability” multiplier they obtained after their Chiropractor wrote them a sick note.

And the crumbling infrastructure extends to all the power poles, water supply infrastructure, brush clearing … everything. The Global Warmist, DEI, exec’s. at PG&E didn’t maintain their infrastructure because it’s a very unsexy line item on the balance sheet. They won’t be praised by leftist politicians for doing their actual JOBS! Nope … but got lots of praise for building wind factories … all of which are crumbling and rusting.

    1. This fire isn’t something you can fix with a few million dollars added to the budget. The human footprint has expanded well into nature’s firebox. We shouldn’t be building subdivisions in fire zones, cities in flood plains and deltas, monster homes in pristine forests full of meta fauna. We shouldn’t start catching fish around a major penguin colony and then wonder why their population has crashed, because of climate change. But we do so there is a price to pay. The consolation here is that many will face years of delay getting building permits if they can even get fire insurance. As Gavin Newsom says “it’s not my job”. As someone said on the Internet “being stupid costs money”.

  6. It’s burning down the houses of the famous. Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton have lost their homes.

  7. I hope Kate doesn’t mind but I’m coping my comment from the post above:

I’ve been watching alot of the MSM networks’ coverage of the fires yesterday and today and fact that there is little to no coverage of the causes of these fires (not even any speculation) tells you everything you need to know about WHO, NOT WHAT started these fires. I also noticed that every single one of this mornings’ MSM “morning” shows all managed to ignore the fact the mayor was in Ghana the last few days and they DEFINITELY IGNORED that video of her being grilled at LAX airport. What media bias? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  8. Imagine owning a house that you cannot insure because the government is so incompetent that insurers will not take the risk.

  9. How DEI officials made the fires worse.

    https://thefederalist.com/2025/01/09/here-are-all-the-ways-dei-crazed-officials-made-the-la-fire-more-deadly/

Implement eco-friendly upgrades to lighting, power, and HVAC. Install solar energy parking shade structures. Purchase electric vehicles.

In 2018 there were an average of 7 fires a day at (homeless) encampments. In 2021 that number jumped to 25 per day.

In 2014 California voters approved a $7.5 billion water bond to build two new reservoirs. They’re stuck in permitting.

When Will Californians realize the primary job of a fire department is to fight fires and prevent them from starting?

      1. I thought that link was going to be some sort of sarcastic joke.

Nope. It’s true and all on video.

The question arises. Are they using purses because good ol’ Home Depot plastic orange buckets have been banned to Save the Planet®? I dunno.

  10. Los Angeles wildfire economic loss estimates top $50 billion!!!

    Big deal.

    Call in the Canadian Liberals.

That’s just a regular year of Liberal deficits here in Cantada.

A little carbon tax will make it all better.

  11. No normal (non-Democrat idiot) American should give a rat’s ass about these fires. Commiefornia has brought it all upon themselves, and we should just enjoy the show.

  12. For many of the celebritards and other residents of the affected mucky-muck communities, property insurance is just a “nice to have”. Many of these people can easily afford pay cash to rebuild burnt properties.
A report indicated they were waking up and are angry with the politicians and bureaucrats for letting them down. Unfortunately, they will jump on the “it’s climate change” bandwagon and demand more restrictions on the serfs as the remedy.

    1. The self-financing “elites” still have to obtain a slew of $$$ permits to rebuild back better.
