Berlin-based Canadian academic, Brian Poole, professes his love for Chrystia Freeland:

First the obvious accolades. She’s the smartest and most experienced person in Canadian politics. But also the least visible until now. Canadians will vaguely recall her role as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2017), as Deputy Prime Minister (2019), and as Finance Minister (2020) in Justin Trudeau’s government. A poor reflection of her actual intellectual stature.

The Prime Minister kept her on a short leash. He feared her acumen and her eloquence. Which means that we usually saw her standing politely behind him. Even when Trudeau visited Zelensky in Kyiv, Freeland was kept in the background, despite the fact that she speaks Zelensky’s mother tongue (Russian) fluently and his adopted language (Ukrainian) perfectly. It was painful to watch.

      1. She’s an authoritarian of the highest order. Never forget she was front and centre in the stripping of the rights of Canadian Truckers and laughed about it. There is no possible way to hold her in high enough contempt.

      2. There was an interesting article a while back (can’t recall the link) which gave a bit of insight into Freeland and Trudeau types. Neither Freeland or Trudeau have done anything successful prior to being elected. Freeland ran Reuters digitial media experiment into the ground in the UK and Trudeau had some shall we say “experiences” as a teacher in BC.

        The article mentioned that globalist “controllers” such as the WEF etc. like to choose people who are both narcissists and dumb , but see themselves as highly intelligent. Both Trudeau and Freeland who are WEF Young Global Leaders graduates , fit into this category perfectly . WEF subtly guides them such that they come to believe the planted ideas are their own., and in that way the can be subtly manipulated .

        1. Two things. First, I do believe that Freeland is intelligent, does not make her a good person, but she is good twenty IQ points above Potato for example. She is not an intellectual.

          Second, there is a difference between intellectual (however we like to define it) and intelligent. For example Peterson or Gad Saad are intellectuals, Trump is intelligent.

          2. She is well above average, he is well below. Good test for IQ is (i) can one laugh at abstract concepts? (ii) can you can explain conditional probability and derivative to that person? I guarantee you potato fails and she passes. I don’t have to like her to state the obvious.

      For example, when commenting on the mass immigration policies, she referred to the fact of a housing shortage in the country, and not enough housing for immigrants, “so we need to bring in more immigrants to build houses for them”.

That does not make her an intellectual but it is an intelligent tactic (to an extent). She also of course has no scruples which allows her to peddle her bullshit.

    This article is like a 1959 bobby soxxer writing for “Teen Beat” magazine declaring that “Frankie Avalon is just the smartest and handsomest and greatest singer on Earth”!
    Freeland has done and said nothing to indicate that she is above average in intelligence, just read the story of her time at Reuters for a good indication of her mental acuity. I suppose she was a competent writer in her journalism days, which probably is what set off the author of this laughable piece.
    But as finance minister she has done nothing but follow orders and plunge this country further into debt.
    No wonder the msm is dying.

A guy who taught comparative literature in Berlin sings the praises in a Ukranian Newspaper of a former young activist who, after getting her bachelor’s degree in Russian literature and her master’s in Slavonic studies, became the Finance Minister of a G7 county and proceeded to drive its finances over a cliff.

  13. I think he’s glossing over a few fairly important details. One is Freeland’s physical appearance. She’s a tub of lard who wears skin tight stretchy dresses all the time which makes her look terrible. I’m sure we’d all like to say we’re above that sort of superficial judgement of people, but here we are. It applies to men as much as women. Second thing is her mortifying public speaking techniques, which can be summarized by her obnoxious facial expressions, her patronizing tone, and her overall “twitchiness”. But more embarrassing is her nearly total inability to answer a question directly. The complete vacuousness of her answers is something that Canadians can’t help but be repulsed by.

      Should be “Canadians pegged by Chrystia Freeland”. There’ll probably be an avalanche of praise for her for a while, sorta the Canadian version of Kamala-mania, but it’s not going to work here either.

      She’s the face of the Liberal disaster, along with Trudeau. Scurrying down the ropes to the dock at the last minute isn’t going to change that perception.
