    1. Hmm, it’s their bin but not their contents. Maybe somewhat legally obligated to leave the contents.

      1. Possession is nine tenths of the law. Looks like the slumlord owns the contents of the bin.

      2. Ok, stop the presses!!!! Upon further review…
I wasn’t paying attention…I thought he delivered the bin full of the owner’s garbage, but the bin was never picked up in the first place.
        My bad!

  1. I rented a bin from Metro Disposal for a removal job we did at Sunnybrook Hospital a long time ago.
The driver picked up the bin at night and drove to the front entrance of McLean House (An historical building on the grounds used for weddings etc. ) and dumped the whole bin on the front lawn because the driver said a nearby roof job had thrown some roofing demolition material into our bin when it was just supposed to have been concrete and terrazzo flooring in it.
Every phone call to the business was instantly them swearing at me and hanging up.
    Watch out.

  2. When the garbage bin company’s blog is Saskatchewan’s #1 Rated Online News Source.

So what happened to Kate being #1? What’s up with that, Sask?

  3. While reading the opening statement of “what happens when…” my first thought was “take the bin and leave the renter’s belongings on the driveway” and upon watching this an inner peace returned to me, almost like the coffee glow I get first thing in the morning when you can hear the birds chirping outside while welcoming the new day.

I have no issue whatsoever with the conduct of the bin renting company, assuming the renter had been given notice that rent was due, maybe even a second chance… then it’s “bless your heart”

Did Just Bins call the City of Regina to complain about the garbage out front of the house?

  4. I don’t see that Just Bins had a choice.

The slumlord had already tied up that bin when it could have been rented out elsewhere to a paying customer. Why should Just Bins take that loss and also pay the tipping fee at the dump out of their own pocket?

If you don’t pay, the trash must stay.

    1. dumping the contents exactly same address it came from serves the immediate function of disposal. it ALSO sends a message to the clever nyuk nyuk types who ‘think’ theyve outsmarterd the box OWNER as to jeepers whatarewegonnadowithawholebinfulloftrash?

  5. “The slumlord had already tied up that bin when it could have been rented out elsewhere to a paying customer. Why should Just Bins take that loss and also pay the tipping fee at the dump out of their own pocket?”

Invoice the ‘slumlord’ for the added rental time of the bin and the dump fee too.
Slumlord fails to pay Just Bins takes them to small claims court for the entire invoice plus an added fee for the trouble.
Slumlord fails to pay and the court sends a Sheriff to collect.

This would save a Sheriff from going to Just Bins and fining Just Bins thousands for illegal dumping and/or vandalism.

    1. What? And add the expense of the lost time jumping through all those hoops? Just Bins cut their losses to a minimum.

The trash was generated on the property and never left the property. How is that illegal dumping?

      1. “The trash was generated on the property and never left the property. How is that illegal dumping?”

Not only was the trash placed in the trash bin by the ‘slumlord’, the Just Bins truck has been recorded dumping the contents of their bin on the property.
Dumping was the action of the Just Bins truck.
The bin was then taken away, proving that the bin was just Bins property.
        That’s how it’s illegal dumping.

        1. “Not only was the trash placed in the trash bin by the ‘slumlord’, the Just Bins truck has been recorded dumping the contents of their bin on the property.”

Just Bins was recorded retrieving their bin, for which no rental fee had been paid. Why should they haul so much as a gum wrapper from the property if they have not been paid to remove trash from the property? It seems to me that the slumlord was filling that bin illegally, since he had not paid to fill it.

If there is to be any legal action, Just Bins should file a complaint that one of their bins was filled illegally.

It’s the Johnny Cochrane defense; If the glove don’t fit, you must acquit if you don’t pay, the trash stays.

          1. “Just Bins was recorded retrieving their bin”

Just Bins was recorded opening the latched closure of the bin and dumping the contents onto the property.

“Why should they haul so much as a gum wrapper from the property if they have not been paid to remove trash from the property?”

Because the bin had been rented to be filled with the trash.
That’s why it was on the ‘slumlord’s’ property.

If that wasn’t why the bin was on the property, then Just Bins owes the ‘slumlord’ a fee for having stored Just Bins bin on the ‘slumlord’s property.

If the ‘slumlord’ owed Just Bins for rent and services then Just Bins should use legal channels to recoup that money, not resort to illegal dumping.

          2. You say tomato. I say tomahto. You call it dumping. I call it retrieving their property and only their property.

Are you saying that what Just Bins did was illegal? Cite all codes, applicable case law, and precedents. I can’t. I’m not Canadian. Perhaps, you can. Let’s see it. All of it. I can be convinced with proper citations. What they did may be illegal… or not. It seems to be an unknown at this point.

    2. You’re either delusional about how the “justice” system in this country works or you’ve never owned a small business.

I applaud these guys. Should have dumped a few more on him.

    1. The news competition is fierce, why… just 2 weeks past JustBins had posted an image of guy walking in Regina near Broad St. and 11th Ave with a hatchet / tomahawk and you don’t see this sort of honest reportage just anywhere, nor the lone counterprotestor to gaza in front of City Hall…
      🙂

    2. And you do a great job. Who could know that Just Bins had such a following. You get 8 people together in Saskatchewan and it’s considered a mob. In fact I think you need a permit to congregate in groups of greater than 4 unless you’re Mennonites. I read that somewhere.
