November 23, 2024: Reader Tips

Tonight, we return to 1939 to enjoy Dodge City. It was filmed in Technicolor and has ratings of 100%/75% on RT. Update: As ‘Kakola’ reported in the comments, the YouTube link has been disabled. Here’s a short segment of the film showing a Barroom Brawl

Here’s more about the film.

Bonus: True North’s Harrison Faulkner offers an hilarious take on Taylor Swift’s time in Toronto. Suffice to say, we’ll chalk him up as “undecided” about whether he’s a Swiftie! šŸ˜‰

Do leave your best tips of late!

  1. Dear Fred from BC;
I read your response to my response in the previous Reader Tips and I just want to say is “fair enough”.

    Un Saludo

      Appreciated. Likewise.

    1. Two 1939 adventure films and favorites since first watched on Family Classics, WGN-TV:
Gunga Din and The Four Feathers

    2. GWTW reminds of when I took a half-credit course at university, “Film and Society.” Being a movie buff, I thought it would be fun; plus, it covered movies made during the McCarthy era, with lots of film noire. My TA was a Marxist lunatic who never covered lecture material but used tutorial as his personal soapbox to spew his socialist drivel. One day he asked us to list movies with strong, empowered women. I said GWTW’s Scarlett O’Hara. He began ripping me a new one, screeching Scarlett O’Hara was NOT a strong, empowered woman because she owned slaves! This idiot is now on the Sunshine List. Go figure.

“Young Mr. Lincoln” is another good film from 1939, covered in my course. I’m not a fan of Henry Fonda but John Ford directed and I enjoyed this one.

A fine example of left-wing logic.

    1. Astounding that there are idiots out there who would spend that kind of money to see a wailing bimbo.

It is truly hard to believe.

  2. Ottawa is to deliver yet another apology. This time for the ‘dog slaughter’ that took place in the 50’s/60’s above the tree line in Nunavik. Quebek Provincial police killed more than 1000 dogs without consideration for their importance to Inuit families.

The Inuit or red Indian rarely tie up a dog. They breed indiscriminately and more often than not run loose fending for themselves. They travel in packs and become dangerous. It continues to this day. Go visit a rez.

In the 50’s/60’s snowmobiles were starting to show up in the north and dog teams quickly became redundant. The people didn’t need them. I’m sure the police have a totally different story of why they shot the dogs. Anybody know it?

  3. Just came from Realsports. The fat-arsed 50 year olds in glitter skirts are already in their cups.

    Meanwhile in Canada…
Shock report finds over 11% of late-term abortions in Canada result in live births
Researchers looked at records of 13,777 abortions over 30 years. The average survival time was two hours, though some survived for as long as one day
