Safety Last

Maybe further investigation will be forthcoming, but I’m not holding my breath.

Covid vaccines could be partly to blame for the rise in excess deaths since the pandemic, scientists have suggested.

Researchers from The Netherlands analysed data from 47 Western countries and discovered there had been more than three million excess deaths since 2020, with the trend continuing despite the rollout of vaccines and containment measures.

They said the “unprecedented” figures “raised serious concerns” and called on governments to fully investigate the underlying causes, including possible vaccine harms.

Writing in the BMJ Public Health, the authors from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, said: “Although Covid-19 vaccines were provided to guard civilians from suffering morbidity and mortality by the Covid-19 virus, suspected adverse events have been documented as well.

  1. That darned old varmint better not come commenting round here else us anti jabbers are gonna give him an earful! What that handle again? Killer bunny? Boy I Sure get riled up!

  2. Well colour me surprised!!!!
What happens when everything that some of us have been aware of since the injection roll-outs are actually accepted by all the morons that blindly lined up for their mandated ‘experimental’ injections. The only thing ‘experimental’ about them was the experiment to see how far they could push the Temple Grandin and Sidney Milgram theories. The results that are coming in now would indicate that the experiment worked very well. The United States which is probably the most injected country in the West has seen their life expectancy drop. As some doctors warned the injections would start being felt after the five year period. Five year periods are used for most vaccines because that is the time lapse that provides the data to indicate the relative safety of a new untested medical procedure.

    1. There have been several in the U.S. for refusal to get the “shot”. Several successful. BART employees who were fired in San Francisco got a million bucks each.

    2. You’ll wait a long time to see it in Canada. The legislation covered political, medical, and pharmaceutical arses.

      1. It did in the U.S. as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to eventually see Pfizer, et al be sued regardless of the indemnification they received from governments.

  3. Class action law suite in India against Pfizer, J and J, and BILL Gates. I love the gates thing, swamp asshole he is.

  4. There is still the problem of massive egos not accepting that they got duped. There are lots of different forms of belief, like mothers of serial killers who refuse to believe their son is a murderer. You hang in there, Killer.

  5. What a piss-poor news article that is. It doesn’t give the name of the paper, much less a link that I can find. But I managed to find it:

    https://bmjpublichealth.bmj.com/content/2/1/e000282

The first thing to notice is that excess mortality was measured from January 2020 to December 2022, so not exactly new data. Furthermore, the time frame is right through the meat of the pandemic. The obvious culprit for excess deaths is, you know, THE PANDEMIC.

The second thing is that paper had an “Expression of Concern” posted on it, and the paper was subsequently corrected.

    https://bmjpublichealth.bmj.com/content/2/1/e000282eoc

    The Expression said in part:

Readers should also be alerted to misreporting and misunderstanding of the work. It has been claimed that the work implies a direct causal link between COVID-19 vaccination and mortality. This study does not establish any such link. The researchers looked only at trends in excess mortality over time, not its causes. The research does not support the claim that vaccines are a major contributory factor to excess deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The current paper does NOT blame the vaccines for excess deaths. And how could it? There was no attempt to determine cause and effect.

And why did The Telegraph not tell us this? Cause the story was run on June 5, before the Expression of Concern was posted.

      1. I get there eventually.

And now I await for the usual suspects to post vacuous and insulting posts because I, you know, actually read the scientific paper being discussed.

        1. You know what, KM? We often disagree on issues regarding the vaccine, but you’ll get no insults from me.
I have refused the Covid vax. No secret there, but I don’t mind people who have a differing view on the issue, as long as they present clear, concise points worthy of debate. You see, I don’t mind being proven wrong, because when I am wrong, I choose to learn from it.
Having said that, I hope you don’t mind if I say that I’m still not convinced that I should have taken that cursed drug. That is from my personal experience, of not being sick to the point where I had to confine myself, and I don’t have to worry about sleepless nights wondering if I’ll wake up in the morning.
Even though I paid a heavy price for my refusal to comply, I do not regret my choice.

          1. Obsessing over massive rat balls is no way to go through life, son. I doubt many understand your point anyway.

          2. Evading the consequences of massive rat balls is an even worst plan for life. When one welcomes ignorance and confusion as a protection against insight, one is on a dangerous path, even if one walks with admirable politeness.

    1. “The obvious culprit for excess deaths is, you know, THE PANDEMIC. ”

The authors took into account Covid-19 mortality. Did you bother to read the methods section?

      1. “The authors took into account Covid-19 mortality.”

The Materials and Methods section (page 3 of the PDF file) says this:

The model regards excess mortality during the COVID- 19 pandemic as the sum of the following factors: (a) deaths directly generated by SARS- CoV- 2 infection, …

I read that as saying that COVID deaths were not included in the “expected or projected number of deaths for that period under normal conditions.” but rather was treated just as they say — as excess mortality. This is supported on page 6:

The next step concerns distinguishing between the various potential contributors to excess mortality, including COVID- 19 infection, indirect effects of containment measures and COVID- 19 vaccination programmes.

        1. Not surprised you read it your way.

“as the sum of the following…”

What is it about the word “sum” you don’t understand?

By the way, the whole paper deals with excess deaths that occurred despite mandated covid-19 pandemic measures. The Expression of Concern – which you emphasize – misdirects the reader from this point that the authors are trying to make. What the manuscript does show, regardless of whether, vaccines were a cause of death, is that ALL measures implemented against the Covid-19 pandemic were, in sum, an utter failure. If they had been a success, we wouldn’t have seen the excess mortality that we now see.

          1. The paper explicitly says that COVID deaths were treated as excess mortality. You’re the one who didn’t bother to read the paper.

What the manuscript does show, regardless of whether, vaccines were a cause of death, is that ALL measures implemented against the Covid-19 pandemic were, in sum, a total failure.

We don’t know for sure, because we can’t replay those times without all the measures. It’s possible that many more people would have died without them. Some researchers have tried to estimate how many lives were saved by the vaccines.

I take such papers with a grain of salt, given how many assumptions you have to make.

  6. Last I checked I’m still unvaccinated, undead and not afraid of a “Dark Winter”.
