    1. Just curious … is a 16 point “mistake” within the “margin of error”? Asking for every other Leftist pollster.

  1. Selzer decided to retire but not just before one more attempt to influence? She should have taken her leave with dignity rather than fakery.

  2. Polls aren’t meant to predict races. Polls are meant to determine how you approach certain constituencies. James Carville understood this, and was an absolute master at it. It is why he went on a expletive laden tirade on a Zoom call a few weeks prior to election day. See if this sounds familiar. “Bill Clinton first had to put his finger up in the air to determine where he stood on an issue.”

It’s because Carville would hire pollsters in each state (not nationally). The goal was to determine the single most important issue to that state. Then Bill would hold a rally in that state and focus entirely on the issue discovered. That’s how you use polls effectively. Not on the race like some gambler betting on horses. It’s more like speaking to the trainer to see which horse is injured.

Incidentally, the Harris campaign actually tried to invoke this strategy at the last minute, but they stupidly did it on a wedge issue within their own party. Do you remember diametrically opposed political ads favoring Hamas in Michigan, and Israel in Philadelphia. The strategy doesn’t work that way, and Carville was likely hitting the sauce when he saw that absolute stupidity.

    1. Well, a truly successful politician may as well be a weathervane, as (s)he can tell what way the wind is blowing. And will then shift with the wind always.

Say what you will about Bill Clinton, but you have to admit that he was a successful politician.

      1. Work ethic. He constantly toiled late at the office. Quite a sacrifice, when you think of it … with a dish like Hillary sitting at home.

    2. Very good analysis, Orson. I agree. I was bewildered by the complete contradiction in messaging between Michigan advertising and Philadelphia. This is NOT the 1930s when you can hope to get away with telling one part of the country something and something totally different elsewhere. Communications is now so good that contradictions will come out immediately. Carville was right; the Harris campaign team were idiots.

And that’s a very good thing for all of us that they were so stupid.

  3. The latest poll she did wasn’t polling. It was advertising. She may resurface in 4 years.

  4. I think she decided to retire a year ago, making her lies cost-free career-wise.

This episode raises the question: how many other polls did she fake?

  5. She blamed racist and sexist Iowans for her crap polls, so that wasn’t it? Will she apologize?

A totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time. She knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “newspaper” for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!
