  1. I’ve read Sowell. He’s a genius. I agree completely with this statement. Those who think a new leader can step in and immediately change or fix everything are bound to be bitter and disappointed.

    1. Yeah….that’s true. We didn’t get where we are overnight. I am reminded of a saying that when you are on a long sea journey, it takes just a small adjustment of the tiller to arrive at a destination that is miles from where you were headed. The key is to keep your hand on the tiller over the long run.

      1. It reminds me of a cartoon I saw many years ago. Two vultures are sitting up in a tree and one says to the other, “Patience be damned. I’m going to kill something!”

      2. Art, I recall that saying as something like this…”a journey of a thousand miles requires a thousand tacks.”
Don’t recall who said it, but it was likely some sage pilgrim.

        1. I believe it was Justin Trudeau who said, “A journey of a thousand miles requires a thousand taxes.” Please buy my new Western novel, “Sage Pilgrim”.

    2. I don’t see Pollievere running around shouting En Fuego!

      But that’s what is required.

      1. If I’m catching your reference to Milei, I was saying that very similar thing today. If he had his own Milei moment, (removing the various departments off a board with much gusto), maybe more of us would believe him.

    3. I’d be happy with a new leader that changes or fixes anything. It is well within the realm of the possible for a CPC majority to take a chainsaw to the size of the federal government, including axing the CBC and the carbon tax. It is well within the realm of the possible to place a moratorium on immigration and cancel all existing visas.

Would it cause outrage? Of course. Would it get undone by the next Liberal government? Almost certainly. But I’m tired of compromise and the mushy middle. I want a party that fights.
