      This tweet is impossible to verify, and I have no idea how someone’s eye could pop out of a socket but I did see in the movie “Casino” how Joe Pesci had a guy’s head in a vice and was angry that a loser type guy had “made Joe Pesci do this” in order to extract who put him up to it..       1. Missed Cream but saw Clapton in concert 82 or 83 (?). Had stage seats in Vancouver, feet on stage just off to the side. It was incredible, Clapton would occasionally walk up and play right in front of me smiling 2 feet away, could have easily reached out and plucked a few cords if so inclined.

        1. It was a ‘happening’ all right, saw Ginger’s iconic drum roll. He had the stage to himself as described in Robert’s full vid. The audience was standing room only– giant speakers were everywhere. I still havent got my hearing back! Check this out, esp @ 8:00 mark. Thanks Robert!

    spent ’69 at a converted farm house the owner gave to a non-denominational church.
    oh they were very avant garde some exchange students 1 from Edmonton,another Calgary 2 from N Scoctia and a big black dude from Jamaicaman. gave is all the island crossed a clot bloodclot slang and laughed at the tiny reefers.
    so post Woodstock we figured why not? one of us had contacts with the music business another chap did silk screeing, and 17 y.o. moi was the electrician. a vital role as it ended up. the prob its an old house and 1 fuse for all the outlets. what about the surges when the bass and the guitar does a loud crashing chord and the singer belts it out all at once?
    not to worry, moi explained the ‘rule’ about exceeding amperages is JUST if its constant. if however the amps bounces above 15 for a second, and thats enough to pop it, what if we put a higher rating in? l explained ‘duty cycle’ and convinced them almost 100% of the time the power will be below or well below the 15A std.
    so those rare times when the amps is 15-19, it quickly drops.
    night of the concert lm having a nap and it all goes silent. l bolted awake knowing what it was, the amps surged again enough to pop the 20A which l quickly replaced, went outside, and watched to the end of the show.

    l knew all this at 17 without a day of formal training in ‘the trade’ just high school physics.

    1. The lifestyle that was available to young people in the late 60s and early 70s had to do with the fact that we were living in the period of maximized wealth in North America. It was the time before massive taxation. It was the time before massive regulation hamstrung industry. It was a time of good union wages before they were exported to China and those jobs left were crushed by brutal levels of immigration. Houses and cars cost almost nothing.

      2. After stumbling out of high school – what an ordeal! – I got a job making steel at Stelco, and was set for life, although I never though of it that way. Glad I didn’t. Also, I didn’t knock up my girlfriend which, according to social scientists, is a leading cause of chronic employment.

        1. A guy I worked with ended up working at Stelco on account of knocking up his girlfriend back around 1972 or so. He ended up working there as an electrician for over 30 years, maxxed out his company pension eligibility at 51, retired, but found he couldn’t pay off his remaining mortgage and survive as he was accustomed to so he continued working elsewhere.
          Chronic employment indeed.
