  1. They should not have normalized the index to Q4 2007 as that was not a realistic baseline. Problem is, if they had chosen a proper baseline the graph would be even worse. The take-away is that personal interest payments are up 120% over 2010. Seems unsustainable.

How long before we see people selling their heirlooms on the sidewalk to make the rent?

    1. I saw a report on Youtube not long ago. The citizen journaist was interviewing a precious metals shop in SanFrancisco where the dealer was overwhelmed with silver being sold by patreons back to the dealer for money. I don’t think he had any money left to buy any more silver and quite frankly he didn’t want anymore. There were more sellers than buyers. The premise was thatpeople had run out of money and were selling anything they had toraise cash IIRC.
I wanted to post it to show that I wasnt exaggerating or lying butI just looked and I couldnt find it.

  3. Q:
how can total payments exceed earnings? is the implication people are hawking stuff and cashing in stocks, and pensions?
not clear how the lines can cross. lm missing something

      1. oh hawd look at that. f’ing debt. fantasy wealth.

then it pops like a toy balloon.

    1. It’s an index normalized to 2007, expressed in percent. Just means payment increases exceeded earning increases both of which were “normalized” to be 100 in 2007.

    2. Selling assets to pay debt instead of handling the payments with income.

Otherwise known as eating your seed corn. It’s how you ruin a nation for a whole generation, maybe two.
