      Sex education should be a structured, organized lesson plan. Parents should be consenting not just to the class but also be informed of the contents of the lesson. There’s a big difference between the basic education focussing on biology, pregnancy and safety than learning about more exotic fetishes. Parents should decide where that line is drawn and I think an opt-in would work.

        1. I’ve been to Europe a couple of times…not sure what connections you’re making. Many Europeans are more comfortable with nudity but there are regional, national and rural/urban differences. Like us, they are also protective of their own children.

  22. Never had sex-ed in my day. When you need to get told how your own most basic instincts work, you’re lost.
    I was surprised in the 90s that women felt the need to teach how to properly breast-feed, when cats and dogs with sharp teeth can do it.
    School should be about the three Rs, history, geography, etc, not about human instincts, we’re all born with that knowledge.
    Seems to me that the more prevalent sex-ed has become in schools, the worse things have become.
