Apartheid Redux

I have a suggestion for these purveyors of nouveau segregation: in order to ensure compliance, they ought to have a few members of a Race Classification Board on hand to administer various tests to ensure that non-black folx are not horning in on activities reserved only for black folx.

Twice a week, the University of Waterloo athletic centre suspends its usual calendar of mid-morning swim lessons, and reserves its 25-yard pool for the exclusive use of a demographic that, in their words, does not have a good “relationship with water.”

“The aim is to get more Black Folx into a space where they haven’t always been welcomed,” reads the official description for the “Black Folx swim,” a 60-minute Black-only pool time. Users can swim lengths, practice diving or sign-up for a lesson. But they — and all the instructors — must be “Black folx.”

  1. I remember watching an episode of this short run, quickly cancelled television series where they take celebrities, suit them up in military gear , and then do military training exercises using real guns and live ammunition, helicopters, boats and other military equipment. The episode I watched had a bunch of celebrities jumping out of a boat into the water and having to swim with full gear on to shore. All the White celebrities including the women made it across and climbed up onto the beach with all their equipment and weapons. The Black actor Terry Crewes, from the movie “white girls”,a pretty strong athletic actor, went into the water, couldn’t swim, couldn’t even tred water and he went down like a stone and divers had to jump into the water to save him.
    He nearly drowned,lol

    1. Stereotypes aside, Terry Crews is a champion bodybuilder. He has 0% body fat and muscle is much denser than water. Anyone with that morphology is going to sink in water.

        1. “Funny, though, Michael Phelps has 5% body fat and does pretty good in the water…”

          Much leaner build than Crews.

  2. A friend of mine was born in Nigeria. He now tells people he’s Canadian.

He has very dark skin. His favourite sport? Telling “black” people they are not black. He tells them they are brown, tawny, or even beige.

    1. My neighbour years ago was from Ethiopia. When someone referred to him as “black”, he was indignant. He was not black, but Ethiopian. He did not want to be identified with dark skinned people from any part of the world of African origin. I got to know a lot of Ethiopian people, some as friends, They had very strong opinions about certain things regarding race, nationality, etc. A lot of them wanted to move south to Seattle, but didn’t want to be identified as the locals of similar colour. After all, they were Ethiopian! We got along well, but not because of that.

  3. If this 21st century version of apartheid persists, the university governing bodies can turn to South African history for well documented race classification procedures. After all, there will inevitably be disputes among the athletic centre users as to who is black enough.

    1. Perhaps a wall of colour chips like they have at Home Depot. Beige, mocha etc, etc. Lines of demarcation for the unacceptably pigmented. “Sorry Billy you are on the bubble”. And as always the instigators of this absurdity hide in the dark recesses of anonymity. Self assured in the courage of their convictions but too venal to place their identities on any document that would identify who, and what, they are and what they represent. It should be Law that without full disclosure of the originators such diktats are invalid.

  4. Isn’t it interesting how quickly academia latched on Critical Race Theory which is nothing more than, in Thomas Sowell’s words, “racism under new management”. It’s like the societally destructive personality traits of the left were just waiting to burst out of the progressive pustule.

  5. Everything I know about blacks and water I learned from Fear Factor and Survivor.
Probably why you’ll never see Trudeau in a pool.

  6. I’ve never seen a black person. Similarly, I’ve never seen a white person (excluding the albino I once saw on a flight to London). Personally, I’m more of an off beige.

It seems to me that instead of wasting time tearing down statutes and renaming schools or reserving a pool based on melanin content, they should address their own internal generalizations. If you proclaim to be black. You are inaccurate. If you claim to be white…you are, also, inaccurate. And, when you understand that melanin content in the skin is a result of external environmental conditions over time, perhaps we can all just get on with living out best lives and remove the purposeful, and dishonest segregation.

    1. I prefer segregation myself. Why would I want to be around violent savages who have a bad habit of attacking people like me?

    1. Ask for “black” paint in Spanish at the local paint dealer:

Negro (masculine) Negra (femanine), are the colour “black” in Spanish.

OH OH, we’ve now upset the alphabet gender bender people………………

  7. Black people should have a special reserved space at the back of the bus. See – I can be liberal too.

  8. Government funded bigotry, yea cause if white people or light skinned people participated it would hinder the “Chosen” group’s ability to learn to swim. At the rate liberals are evolving we won’t be allowed to drink from black water fountains. Funny how the left have always been the ones behind enforced segregation.

  9. I remember a time when ‘the pencil test’ was held in contempt. These people want to bring it back.

    1. Which version of the “pencil test” are you talking about?

Are you trying to further segregate the black swimmers on the basis of perky breasts?

As an aside, let me ax you why the brothers ain’t killing it in the diving category?
      🙂

  10. Pictures! I want pictures!

I taught swimming lessons to kids at a pool in a mixed neighborhood.

Almost all black kids have an intense fear of water. They freeze up and end up sinking and panicking.

They probably never grow out of it. I can probably count on one hand the number of blacks I have ever seen actually swimming.

Sorry about the stereotype but it’s true.

  11. “Sorry about the stereotype but it’s true.”

East Indian kids also don’t swim, as a rule.

    1. would it be racist to suggest a reason is the widespread water pollution
in the highest pop nation in the world now?

  12. Interesting that they use segregation to promote inclusion. If that were reversed to white only there would be hell to pay over it. I’m sure we could find a few white non swimmers to join them. What a strange cause to choose!
