There are a not insignificant number of right-of-centre folks who don’t like Donald Trump. Yesterday, SDA regular ‘Kenji’ posted something interesting about why he does support Trump:

Let me explain the MAGA movement coming from someone who is 100% dedicated to PDJT. Back in 2016, when I jumped on the Trump train, I publicly stated: I could care less about “the Trump brand” … I think his buildings are ugly … and he is a shameless self-promoter cum huckster. But he is OUR VESSEL. Our vessel of a candidate who is the anti-McCain … and the anti-Romney … anti-GOPe version of DeSantis, and now the anti-Haley. We MAGA nation are DONE with weak, centrist, globalist, neocon wimps foisted on us by the RNC. Done with it … forever. Nobody beside Trump can deliver America from the EVIL that envelops her.

Later this year … the American people will VOTE with their paychecks and their gasoline tanks. They will VOTE their credit card debt … and they will VOTE for what ACTUALLY works.

Look at our nation!? What a mess! And it cannot be blamed 100% on the Communist Democrap Party. Count the number of Global Warming shills and true believers in the Republican Congress. They’re just as dedicated to destroying our energy infrastructure as the Communist Dem’s.

  1. I personally don’t think DJT is fit for the oval office. On any number of fronts.

It doesn’t matter what I think, Trump represents a movement. The ordinary citizen has sensed for sometime that the country doesn’t work. It’s the common sense of the common people. They see their standard of living slipping. Their kids are being educated by a system their parents don’t recognize. Nothing makes sense and people are starting to fight back.

Trump is the lightning rod for this discontent. If it wasn’t him it would be someone else. That is what the liberal left doesn’t understand. They think things are fine and are perplexed asking questions like,”Why are people so angry?” If you have to ask, it can’t be explained to you.

    1. “I personally don’t think DJT is fit for the oval office. On any number of fronts.”

Burn the witch! Burn her now! Burn her with fire! Don’t listen to reasoned arguments it will poison your ears!

    2. So abtrapper who would you pick to go through the kangaroo courts, have the MSM all over him, and have what’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome?
Who else would be fit for the oval office in your words?
No, nobody else would be the lightening rod.

      1. I don’t have to pick anybody. He’s not my guy but so what?

My point is DJT is the focal point of peoples dissatisfaction with where the country is going and the inability (intransigence) of the elite political class to do anything about it. Trump has harnessed this energy. Good for him. He’s the man.

If it wasn’t Trump, some other leader would emerge and galvanize the movement.

          1. The only witch hunts I’ve ever seen in my forty years on earth have been coming from the left. They are the ones creating their own mythology, and they will burn you if you dare to point out the fallacies.

          2. There primarily, but purity seekers on SDA especially of the Maxipad and Trumpet variety engage in withchunts on regular basis.

        1. It might be someone else, merely because of getting the most votes and not by harnessing positive energy.

Your point about focal point is bang on. Few people would shoulder that and carry it. Especially with the success he’s had.

    3. Interesting. Where and when did you meet him, in person, face to face? If this never happened then your opinion is/was formed by someone else, which was likely formed by someone else. Do you see what I am getting at? He is a polarizing individual. He brings out the best and worst in people. I have my perspective having spent an afternoon with him before he even thought about running for president. If I could I would vote for him repeatedly.

    1. “Perfect explanation”

It was. He’s not wrong…I feel pretty much the same way about Trump, as do others that I know.. It may be a sad commentary on society that it takes a man like him to fix things, but no one else seems willing or able to take on the challenge.

        1. That is what makes me support him, there is just no quit in him. Fortunately, as a dual, I do get to vote and will do so for a third time.

  2. who else you gonna vote for? ….. not that that matters to the (S)election …. if the (S)election is allowed to proceed

  3. Ponald Dump is quite a vessel. Loved Fauci and boosted him to fame. Locked us all down and refused to stand for us that were imprisoned by deranged dictatorial governors. Increased the national debt by trillions, forcing through incredibly fiscally irresponsible spending bills. Left the swamp full, and all those swamp creatures have been breeding for more than 3 years now. And all the pictures of him with Epstein…thats going to come back.
People who back him are incredibly dense, trying to destroy anyone who present themselves as an alternative, sowing hatred even when we’re on the same side, selling our future for a couple more years.

But he did get a lot of good done in his first term. I would have strongly preferred a much less ‘a$$hole’ of a vessel, but I’ll still vote for him next year.

    1. If he is elected, I truly hope that he will be like President Meili (sp?) of Argentina. Immediately halve the number of government departments, write pink slips “Your services are no longer required” for half of the federal civil servants and for the military and all of the alphabet agencies (CIA, FBI spring to mind) and to not trust anyone.
His mistake was he trusted too many of the deep state operatives and believed “Dr.” Fauci.
I made similar mistakes with my first 2 business ventures and vowed NEVER to go into business with anyone as a partner again. It has worked for me these past 30 plus years.
I think trusting people is a sign of a good person. Sadly, many people are not worthy of trust and the others must earn your trust.

    2. Just to be clear, Trump didn’t lock anybody down….the decision was that of the individual States. The biggest mistake Trump made was not to immediately fire Fauci.

      1. This is what people don’t get. People who support Trump know he has flaws and that he makes mistakes. Just like every other human.

But he stood up to the globalist plans for America when he ran in 2015. He was the only person to do so. His agenda and policies are the only ones that can manage the decline we are in. And we were doing much, much better when he was in office then we are doing now.

None of the other Republicans candidates are willing to stand up to the global audits. It’s Trump or bust.

  4. It’s not about the Democrats vs the Republicans or Trump vs Biden…..it is ALL about the fact that government is supposed to be driven bottom up and not top down. Over the past couple of decades, government in many countries has become far more centralized and top down. The common people considered as the primary source of political power. In that regard, Trump is the winner…..by leaps and bounds.

  5. Sorry, Kenji, please read this survey and you will realize that the people who rule America are crazy:
    https://committeetounleashprosperity.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Them-vs-Us_CTUP-Rasmussen-Study-FINAL.pdf
These people are the doctors, attorneys, teachers, scientists, academics, engineers, public officials, etc. And if you ignore those over 50, it’s even worse. There are no replacements. It’s over.
I love Trump and I enjoy him making lefties go crazy. Hopefully, we will have 4 more years of that. But I don’t think it won’t change the fundamentals. America is f**ed.
    And Canada is Royally F**ed.

    1. Well, the French thought that in the late 1700’s and the aristocrats paid the price. Hope remains.

    2. I said in 2016 Trump was the only one who could hold off the globalist take over long enough to manage the decline. The decline has been happening since 2001, it’s a matter of managing it so we are in a good spot to build back. The globalists stepped in with Covid to make sure their plans wouldn’t be upended. It’s the “Great Reset” vs. the restoration of American Greatness. People in my family weathered the Great Depression and two world wars. America is no stranger to re-building after disaster strikes. Electing Trump is just the first step.

  6. I support Trump only because all the right people hate him. If they’d backed off most people would have been ambivalent.

    1. “I support Trump only because all the right people hate him. If they’d backed off most people would have been ambivalent.”

The Democrats really never wrapped their minds around that, did they? The more ridiculous the attack on him (from “Russia Russia Russia” to baseless impeachments to even more baseless lawsuits) the more his popularity *grows*. So what do the Democrats do in response? MORE of the same.

  7. Not a perfect parallel by any stretch but I see Trump as a modern day David. A flawed and imperfect man (aren’t we all?) but chosen by God because he is a warrior. The deep State, enemies of nation states like the EU and our foreign adversaries fear him and that means he is on the right side of things.

    1. aside quick note l have a theory abt the original David.
-he wd challenge himself to knock the flower off a solo blade of grass from 30 meters and learned how to
-he knew when he ran AT goliath the angle of a lethal hit to the head widened with every step.
-he randomly grabbed 3 stones knowing God would guide him to grab the roundish one he needed quickly discarding the other 2. all 3 of which are just under the surface at the location to this day.
-the rock hit like a .45 slug
-my fav book entire bible Daniel. coooool as a cucumber getting lowered into the den with the lions he had many months previous snuck treats from the kitchen. another theory.

      1. When the ancients wanted to execute people by feeding them to captive beasts such as lions, they would make sure the animals hadn’t eaten for a few days to ensure they would finish the job. I don’t think feeding the lions snacks once in a while would stop a hungry lion from eating Daniel.

It’s true the Lord helps those who help themselves. What was amazing about David was his unwavering faith. This led to a spiritual courage that allowed him to act when others cowered in fear. This faith is why he was so beloved by the Lord. It was much more pleasing to God than Solomon’s request for wisdom. David knew that with the Lord by his side he could do anything, and so he did. This is why he remained God’s favorite even with his flaws and mistakes. His faith never waivers.

I’d say the perseverance Trump has shown over the last 13 years (yes, this ordeal started well before 2016) points to a confidence that can only come from this kind of faith in the divine like David had. A man who only believes in himself would have been broken by now.

  8. It’s come to this… the best America can present to lead the people to peace and prosperity is a choice between Biden and Trump.

    Come Lord Jesus, come.

  9. Voting, today. I was talking to my next door neighbor who is a Dem. He’s not voting for Biden. I’m trying to get him to write in RFK. He asked me who I was voting for. I told him I’m an economic voter, I want a mixed economy and I wantall critical supply chains to originate in North America. It’s not that I’m oblivious to other problems but I believe if you can establish a robust “grow the pie” economy, a lot of other problems go away or become manageable. Anyway, my neighbor admits that Trump is the only candidate who meets that criteria.

  10. Some people hate Trump just because he’d leave Zelensky high and dry like he deserved to be since day 1.
Can you guess who they might be?

    1. Trump was the first US President to send lethal military aid to Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank missiles which later went a long way toward stopping the Russian advance on Kyiv. He hasn’t always been in favour of letting Putin win.

It’s primary time so at the moment Trump has to patronise his base, who believe all sorts of whacky things. Once he has the nomination he’ll have to appeal to the wider electorate up to November, so we might see a more moderate tone on European issues and on NATO in general. If he chooses to make isolationism a big partisan election matter, it might not go well for him. But with so many domestic points to fight over, especially the border and illegal immigration, he won’t need to focus on foreign policy so will probably avoid backing himself into a corner.

If he regains office he’ll probably do what he did before, make decisions based on a combination of the best interests of the US and himself (hopefully with more skill delineating the two this time). He won’t need his base anymore, so they shouldn’t be too surprised at being disappointed.

  11. Who takes over in four years when Trump finishes his second (and last) term?
Will the “swamp” be any more drained than it was after the first four Trump years?

  12. It is a very incomplete political phenomenon to have this relatively old candidate as the only existential threat to the globalist powers that be. At the very least, Trump’s base need to take over all aspects of the Republican Party and ensure that whoever is nominated in the future will be as committed to anti-globalism, if not more so, than Donald Trump.

In some ways, Trump represents a sort of life insurance policy for globalism. I believe he will take certain positions and do a certain amount of good, but will fall short of the ultimate test, globalism will wait him out (if they can’t fix the next election) and just get back to their ongoing revolution after 2028. I would love to be proven wrong but I suspect that a second term for DT will be similar to the first one, some good will be done, some odd choices of helping hands will be made, the country will then face a choice between an uber-leftist Democrat and some useful idiot Republican, and globalists in the shadows will adjust their game plan to opportunities presented.

What is really needed is a much younger leader who can serve two terms, aggressively go after the globalists at all levels, and inspire a second such person to carry on in 2032 (2036? if necessary). Whether Trump can play any useful role in getting that started, or will choose to ignore the question of a successor, remains to be seen.

As to Jesus doing a better job, no doubt, but that would have to involve the U.S. becoming a part of a larger political entity, the Kingdom, in part because Jesus would probably not seek political power in the United States alone, and also because Jesus would not be eligible to run for president, he was born in Israel. And you know what, this may turn out not to be idle speculation either, the signs are all around us to indicate that Jesus could return to the earth at any time. Look busy.

  13. imagine my confusion when l had to read the headline 3 times get it right.
l normally phrase this ‘why he supports’ when l phrase it such and such DOES it is in te context does *not* which l kept subonsciously slipping in.
    just a silly quirk.
    hello hello hello kenji
by 2021 l was totally turned against Trump but then the hearsay etc crap came out by 2023
l was totally in Trump camp again and locked in this time.

  14. Trump has helped the U.S. and Republicans by undertaking three things:
    1. Transforming the Republican party into a working-class, anti-elite party;
    2. Introducing grassroots organizing into small-c conservativism;
    3. Articulating common-sense solutions to U.S. problems (e.g., the Mexican wall).

Because of any one factors, people should support Trump. I do. My anger with Trump is his ugly mouth. He almost purposely damages his own party and brand by saying stupid and demoralizing things, almost wanting to assist our common enemy. Yes, his speeches are good. But the evil, corporate media will isolate one inane remark an make it into a major story.

    1. They will do that to anyone. Is there a less offensive milquetoast than Romney? He was the devil incarnate for the duration of the campaign, it doesn’t matter.

    2. 4. Getting the political machines, deep state. and media to take the mask off and expose just how evil and corrupt they are.

  15. Our nest here in Florida is comprised of Snowbirds from the eastern two thirds of the US,
from Maine to Montana and all points in between. The visible out pouring of support this year
for Trump far exceeds years past. As in Canada, and many European countries, the people feel their way of life slipping away and this time they plan to be heard. It’s time to get in the game….don’t stand on the side lines, this is the only chance you’ll have.

  16. You have to head into battle with the leader you have, not the leader you wish you had. And right now Trump is the best we’ve got. I live in South Jersey, where everybody knows Trump shafted many small contractors back in the day when building his Taj Mahal casino. On the other hand, I also know a waiter who used to work at one his AC casinos who knew him and loves the guy, as do most of his employees – past and present. On balance, he was a great president – the best since Reagan. Sure he gave too much power to Fauci, but at the time it seemed to most (not me!) that it was the right thing to do to save lives. Reagan isn’t coming back to save us. Maybe Trump will. Vote accordingly.

  17. There seems to be this idea that you have to “like” someone in order for them to do a good job for which they are hired…or in this case voted for. This is not high school student council where you just vote for the cool kids.

I look for a mechanic that’s fair and does good work to solve whatever the problem is with my truck. If he is a “nice” guy, that’s just a bonus.

Trump may not be the leader you WANT, but due to the time and place where we are in history, he is the leader you NEED.

    1. agreed agreed agreed. the many times l make the distinction many times my political predictions do not coincide with what l want.
why do people so often make that atrocious communications destroying assumption?

  18. sundance at CTH has a short way of putting things:

I am a MAGA Republican and Donald Trump is my hammer.

  19. Yep. I say that while Trump may be an obnoxious jerk, he’s our obnoxious jerk. And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

    1. exactly. a bloody buffoon who convinced k j unhinged to lay off the nuke tests.
look what came after. and the gawdforsaken southern sieve? you really need some medicine called Trump, america.
