The Dems could beat Trump if they offered a vision of the Future that is not creepy, not bleak, not dreary, not depressing, not dystopian.
They used to, or at least they used to pretend to advance the interests of middle working America.
They don’t even fake it. It speaks to how indifferent, or hostile , they are to Main Street, working America, productive America.
He wrote a play called American Buffalo, which was surprisingly entertaining even for sitcom groundling like myself. And not the usual lefty vehicle.
Years later I heard he had gone to the right side, and I’ve been meaning to watch it again.

I do believe it is plausible that the Donks have scenarios where electing Trump serves their purposes better than electing a D. I don’t believe that is what was decided.

It would explain why everything they do seems to elevate Trump in the polls. They can’t be so blind or stupid that they don’t realize it? I guess they could if they are completely cocooned and o livious. Either that, or they believe they can finesse another Dem onto the ballot, at the last minute, who they imagine could readily overtake Trump.
Gruesome Newsome seems to be the consensus candidate.
They may have concluded that having Trump as president makes the Reichstag moment easier for them. The. Donks avoid responsibility any way they can and Trump as president cleans many hands
