The Canada Pension Plan and Employment Insurance taxes alone are set to take a bigger bite out of your paycheck. The touted second CPP tax, or “CPP2,” isn’t just an additional burden; it’s an emblem of a government that sees no problem in reaching deeper into the pockets of its citizens.
And let’s talk about that carbon tax. It’s not just rising; it’s skyrocketing from $65 per tonne to $80 per tonne. This isn’t just an abstract figure. It translates to more than 17 cents per litre of gas, a direct hit to anyone who drives a car, heats their home, or, frankly, buys anything transported by truck, train, or plane. Trudeau’s government has the audacity to claim that families will somehow be “better off” with this carbon tax and its so-called rebate scheme. But let’s call it what it is: a blatant falsehood.
Update: Cabinet’s billion-dollar carbon tax cut on home heating oil followed months of warnings from in-house pollsters, records show. Homeowners opposed the tax as costly and divisive in Atlantic Canada where 24 Liberal MPs are up for re-election: “Almost all believed the carbon pricing system was too complicated and did not expect this initiative would be effective in reducing emissions.”

No carbon tax here in Saskatchewan. Other provinces take note. Stand up to this government or (literally) pay the price.
That “no carbon tax” only applies to your saskpower and saskenergy bills. There is a not insignificant chance we may end up paying it anyway. Apparently CO2 isn’t as much of a problem in Quebec as it is significantly less on petrol and diesel in Quebec. It is a provincial program. Does anyone know, do they still receive the federal rebate?

If Saskatchewan can eliminate carbon tax on home heating fuel why can’t it eliminate carbon tax in the province?
It could decide to not collect the carbon tax on anything or even everything for which it has a part in collecting. It is only not collecting it on gas and electricity supplies by its Crown Corporations because it owns those suppliers so it can protect the employees from the federal government. It can’t offer that protection to owners and employees of private businesses that are required by the feds to collect and remit the tax.
And it’s also because gas and electricity can be linked to home heating and the feds have exempted users of oil for home heating in one province where it is widely used and (what a coincidence, where polls show support for the Liberals falling significantly,) and because the Supreme Court of Canada judged it legal for the feds to step into what would normally be provincial jurisdiction by imposing this tax as long as they applied it equally in all provinces. When they gave an exemption to one group of people in one province they lost that justification for interfering in an area of provincial responsibility.

one rationale lm fond of is the fact the apprenticeshit cystem thwarted me for a long time despite for instance l had the 1st year already documented.
l always had a knack for electricity and things like polarity and did just fine with low voltage more complex alarm systems.

p.s. all that experience saved me a bundle in rewiring present abode. crikey. ‘fixer-upper’, for a while EVERY time l opened an electrical box there was a problem.
now l have integrated smoke detectors, motion sensors all 4 sides, power to th shed, GFCIs up the wazoo, all selling points.
that doesnt necessarily result in a 1 to 1 increase in selling price but they sure move faster when its all there and all works.

Used to live in Ontario for the first 2/3 of my life; now live in Florida (got U.S. citizenship the old fashioned way > legally). Literally EVERYTHING is cheaper here, including ‘healthcare’ because taxes in FL are less than half of Ontario; that saving buys gold standard health insurance.

So, we have a CPP increase, and an extra CPP tax on top of that, and the Dipper stooges in Alberta are still throwing everything they have to keep the province from starting it’s own pension scheme?

The Fire Chief in a small two-city FD next door to me … all single family suburban homes … total pop. of maybe 50,000 … was making $325k/yr … threatened to quit and received a raise to: $375k/yr and immediately “retired” at his newly “spiked” pension rate. He was then hired at another FD for $350k/yr.
Yes … it is a bloody scam. And yes … he was a Fire Chief ovvvvvv v cullller.
