  1. I wonder what would happen if people simply wrote ‘Donald Trump’ on the ballot themselves. I believe write-in candidacy is still very much a thing in the US and if you don’t like any of the choices offered, you can add whomever you like and they’re required to count them.

    1. When you use voting machines instead of paper ballots, writing in a candidate becomes increasingly difficult.

      1. Democrats claim that anything which makes the voting process “even a little more difficult” is voter suppression.

        Time for the GOP to try the same tactic.

    It should be obvious to anyone with a brain that the 14th amendment does not apply to the Presidency, anyway. It’s the only national position and the nation can elect (almost) whomever they want. They could even have elected Jefferson Davis.

    1. It’s a stalling tactic. They’re really not that stupid. They know they will get overturned eventually by SCOTUS, but the distraction will take away and mitigate Trump’s impact, or so they believe.

      It’s straight-up election interference. Lawfare. Our respective societies are no longer free. A free society would require a justice system that applies equally to everyone under the law. We no longer have a justice system. Only a legal system that is constantly being abused and weaponized for the sole purpose of retaining power, and advancing an agenda.

      1. Of course, but I think they really believe that provisions in the 14th can be used to exclude someone, not just Trump, from running for president. This is why they’ve been using the insurrection line since Jan. 7. Were it actually so, which of course it wasn’t, they believe they have a valid argument on those grounds. However, it should be obvious that these provisions were intended to prevent the recreation of the Confederacy on a state wide basis but, like I said, however unlikely, the US could have elected Jefferson Davis because those provisions do not apply to that position and the will of the electorate at a national level.

      2. The SCOTUS won’t hear the case until appeals are heard. They may be able to force the R’s to nominate anyone not Trump just to have a name on the Maine ballot.
        They know what they are doing and where they are going.

        Reasonable people, including Independents, will understand that 8-1 or 7-2 reveals the actual political activists in SCOTUS, so the DeMarxists have to hope for a 5-4 or at least 6-3 split, which they won’t get.

        Given now that their gaslighting propaganda, censorship and coercion has been exposed, their mendactic monetized media will huff and puff to nobody listening or watching, just the like the CBC here.

        Like I said, let them wail and wallow in their grossly tactical and now strategic errors in fighting Trump.

        Btw, Biden won Maine by 25% over Trump’s vote, so like CO this remains a moot point, except to very soon reveal DeMarxists for the desperate dystopic despots they are, now added to their hypocritical projection, incompetence, negligence and recurring 10% Biden brand negligence to add to his lethal reign of error.

        1. This is a two pronged thrust. They have a fallback plan to destroy the court. Mostly, I think you give reality too much credit but I hope you’re right.

        2. Maine does their electoral votes a bit different, so even though biden beat trump on the overall vote, giving biden the 2 at large electoral college votes, trump still had enough votes in one of the congressional districts to get 1 of those.

    This lunacy will continue until people realize the source of our failures.

    1. He had read Machiavelli’s “The Prince”. There are but 3 forms of government: Monarchy, Aristocracy and Democracy.

      In the West, we have been under Aristocracy since the enlightenment. We “vote” from a collection of “approved” candidates, who are essentially all part of the same Aristocratic, monied elite. It will admit outsiders, but only those it approves of, of course.

      The three forms of government have an eventual evolution inton3 darker forms: Monarchy -> Tyranny, Aristocracy -> Oligarchy (where we in the West are now, as is Russia), and Democracy -> Anarchy (Mad Max Land).

      In all cases, none of these can survive the corruption of the citizenry. Once the citizenry are debauched (as we have become), we fast-track to Anarchy. From which we will obtain Monarchy. The whole cycle then begins again.

    1. What Vivek is describing is the morphing of our Western Aristocratic system of government, into true Oligarchy. And this was allowed to happen because the citizenry has become corrupt.

  6. You know, I half jokingly mentioned a while back that we were approaching a point in time where we could expect a hyper-partisan Secretary of State to stop with the half-assed obstruction and go full tilt. Sort of like this woman.

    BUT, that’s not where it stops. Under the radar, partisan Secretaries of State have been compartmentalizing. They’re flexing their position over individual precincts and (in some cases) disallowing the public sharing of individual precinct numbers. There’s a reason for that. The Secretary of State, ultimately, certifies the election AFTER all the individual precincts report to them. By compartmentalizing the individual totals, only her office has the grand total of vote results in the state. SOOOOOOoooooo, what’s to stop someone like Ms. Bellows from just certifying a totally fictious total? She’s just proven that she has no regard for the appropriate legal process. She, individually, decided that one of the candidates didn’t fit her approval, so she removed him.

    That’s just a tiny step away from just certifying bogus numbers to support that “she knows best.”

    I can see this approach in Arizona, for sure. Additionally, Courts have skewed the legitimacy by only allowing partial and arbitrary examination of ballots. All a state needs is a partisan Secretary of State (or even a compromised one via extortion) and a left leaning State Supreme Court to mop up any challenges. Pennsylvania, also, fits that category. As does Michigan….as does Wisconsin.

      Isn’t interesting that voting machines in predominately republican leaning precincts malfunction and force those voters to traipse to another (and ultimately left leaning) precinct to vote? Now, consider what I said above.

      This happened in Arizona….and more recently it happened in the last Pennsylvania election for state seats and a state supreme court position (in which the republicans got clobbered).

      1. Actually, they did it the hard way in 2020. They concentrated on the individual vote as opposed to the total of them all. Instead of having hundreds of cogs to orchestrate, you only need one if the Secretary of State is game.

      The state is essentially amoral, so the people administering it must be moral in the carrying out of their service.

      They will never stop, they will have to be stopped; and pretending “we’re better than that” is a fool’s errand.
      This is war, so use such principals and ignore any hypocrisy that you, but not the despots, must obey “rules.”

I was born and lived my early life in Maine, it is experiencing the same urban/rural divide we all are in the west. 90% of the land area of Maine is solidly small “c” conservative, but the Portland area is full of typical northeastern progs who fancy themselves Bostonians. Why, I have no idea, Boston is a shithole full of people almost as obnoxious as NYC’ers, with the worst actual racists imaginable. Unfortunately, the population is centered there, and just like us all numbers rule.

      Outgroups are crucial to ruling, but this bunch’s Jew hatred is particularly disturbing and degrading.

      They thought they had it done with their control of social media to shield them and attack opponents, but alas they didn’t complete the collectivist circle with SCOTUS; otherwise all would be lost as the US slipped into tyranny. They had absolute power for a while and want it back without interference from rule of law.
