People must buy battery-powered radios, torches and candles to boost their “personal resilience” in the event of a national crisis wiping out digital network or power supplies, the government has said.
Oliver Dowden, the deputy prime minister, has given the first of what will be an annual update to MPs on the government’s national risk and resilience strategy.
Guidance to be issued next year will help people to prepare for different emergencies.
He said that members of the public needed to be more “personally resilient” as he suggested they have become too reliant on devices powered by the internet.
A new “resilience website” will contain advice on how people can ensure they are prepared for being left without power for the gadgets they rely on.
Refusing to generate power without the use of “fossil” fuels should result in the death of those forcing the issue, not those effected by their insanity. Everybody should head for one of Charlies massive estates as they will have power and there is lots of game on them that can be killed and eaten.

In Canada, those who see the future of a collapsing electrical grid because of the actions of the green ideologues are increasingly investing in electrical generators for their homes. Our local Costcos cannot keep them in stock since demand is so high. The tri-fuel (natural gas, propane and gasoline) generators are very popular, allowing maximum flexibility. The next step is to have a “through-the-wall” connector installed so that the electricity from the outside generator can enter the home without having to leave a door open.
If your home is served by natural gas, investing in a natural gas BBQ with a connection to your natural gas service is a smart move, as is purchasing a natural-gas-fired fireplace insert.
If the grid is down, how long will natural gas continue to flow? Or propane / gasoline depots remain stocked?
Good questions, but still better to have back-up that will help you through the electrical grid outage with some comfort. Further, a quick bit of research (Enbridge website) finds that “At most stations, the compressor units are fueled by natural gas from the pipeline, though some are driven by large electric motors” so much of the natural gas will continue to flow in the event of an electrical grid failure.
That’s a temporary condition, as those in Texas found out last year, the GreenZi’s demanded that all pumping stations be converted to run on clean, “reliable” electricity, and thus when the electrons stopped so did the gas…
The sad thing is unless you got a wood stove eventually you will have no heat. A complete collapse of systems will be just that. I hope to hell I am long gone as I live in a condo apartment with electric heat and no way of supplementing that.

In 1980s Romania, the power was practically on only one hour a day if you were lucky, and people were forced to jury rig wood stoves into their ratty tenements to keep from freezing.
It didn’t end well for Old Man Ceausescu, and it won’t end well for the Brits either.
Here in Nova Scotia our power goes out when we get a stiff breeze, I bought one of those free standing car battery chargers that also inflates tires and it comes with one plug outlet thus I can at least make toast or coffee. Make no mistake England is the canary in the coal mine via the elites taking from us to keep them in lavish mansions with heat.
When the power goes out for an extended time everybody will be in trouble. Texas in 2022 had 4 days of -25 and people froze to death in their beds.
Be prepared as best as you can. If you are without heat or water things get critical pretty fast.
I’m well equipped and grew up without power and running water so I get it. I don’t want to go back to those days but barring something unforseen I’m quite sure I’ll be one of the last men standing.
If I lived in the country, no problem. As a kid we lived for extended periods at our farm, usually in the summer, no electricity, out house, a hand water pump in the kitchen and the wood stove for cooking. We burned coal in those many years ago, same in our fireplaces. We had no refrigeration and yet none of us died from spoiled food.
That said, for the rest of the year we lived in an 8 bedroom 3 living room, 1 dining room, 4 bathroom, 3 story, 2 staircase house. We were not poor.
By the way the house was heated with a hot water coal fired system that did not require electricity, you put 2 or 3 tons of coal in the coal room and you were good to go. Water was also gravity feed.
The good old days were quite good when I was a kid.
Well I do agree that too many people are using home appliances connected to the internet. That is simply idiotic and the “new and kewl thing”. But really, does your fridge have to be connected to the internet? Good God.
And to be clear, any political party that allows and even encourages power blackouts should be publicly flogged. Under NO circumstances should a government allow its citizens to be put in danger because of the ideological lunacy of a certain segment.
I’ve told my appliances they’re not ready for the internet.

Don’t really care, the point is that apparently, he cares and is bothered by others heating their dwellings, and he does not like it.
Heating and lighting are the least of their worries. It will be when the national rationing system kicks in that the average population will finally clue in and by then it will be too late. Four or five days without power is a minor inconvenience when the SHTF it’ll be too late to start growing your ‘Victory Garden’ in your tower complex. What the present day Brit has fogotten is that the ration books issued during the last war was a subsistence, survival diet. Also forgotten in the mists of history is that the some of rationing system functioned right up until 1954. On the bright side the “Just Stop Oil” crowd will be the first to succumb followed closely by the jabbed population.
Maybe it’ll help cull all the Pakis and Bangladeshi groomers?
