Y2Kyoto: They’re Not After Your Meat

Or your guns, nor your gas stoves…

The world’s most-developed nations will be told to curb their excessive appetite for meat as part of the first comprehensive plan to bring the global agrifood industry into line with the Paris climate agreement…

The guidance on meat is intended to send a clear message to governments. But politicians in richer nations typically shy away from policies aimed at influencing consumer behavior, especially where it involves cutting consumption of everyday items.

‘Livestock is politically sensitive, but we need to deal with sensitive issues to solve the problem,’ said Dhanush Dinesh, the founder of Clim-Eat, which works to accelerate climate action in food systems. ‘If we don’t tackle the livestock problem, we are not going to solve climate change. The key problem is overconsumption.’

India has by far the largest herd in the world with over 300 million head of cattle! Who is gonna tell them?

  1. And yet North America was home to an estimated fifty million Buffalo and all was well, a long, long time before the United Nations LPCC concocted (thanks Maurice) their Global Warming, Climate Change, Net Zero, Carbon (?) Bogeyman Scam. Why do we allow funding to these charlatans.

    1. @DHL: You don’t understand. Back when there were all those buffalos, we were not burning fossil fuels to the extent we are now. Plus the world population was under 1.5 billion, no cars, aircraft, etc.

      1. I understand very well. I remember when oil tankers were being sunk in the hundreds but surprisingly the world did not come to an end. I remember 1968 and Paul Erhlich, I remember The Club of Rome prognostications, I remember no less a Scientist than Jimmy Carter and his 1972 doomsayer utterances, then Al Gore, and on and on and on, ad nauseum. Possibly the most egregious charlatan was our own dearly departed Maurice Strong who created the UN IPCC and the fraudulent Carbon Dioxide mantra. And yet here we are billions of dollars have been vacuumed to who knows where, for no known useful purpose, and the END of the World is still nigh. May I suggest it is you Canuckguy, uninformed and misinformed as you appear to be, who does not understand.

      2. And well before any of that CO2 level have been as high as 7000 ppm, or 15 x higher than now. And the world didn’t burn up.

  2. Do the people of India actually eat beef?

Where was it in the world where the cows were “sacred” and untouchable?

    1. There’s a large Muslim population that does. Goans, too. Sikhs don’t have a specific prohibition from beef. Hindus don’t eat beef but do use a lot of milk products.

Fun tip, for cheap butter, you can get big containers of ghee, which is really just clarified butter, at quite a discount over regular butter.

        1. Ghee … tee hee … my people (and Julia Child) call it clarified butter. A much more descriptive English compound word for it.

    2. Sikhs and Hindus typically don’t, but I believe they are one of the largest leather processors in the world.

    3. Yes Sid, the cow is a sacred animal for Hindus, and there are a lot of Hindus in India not eating beef, which leaves a lot of cattle leading long lives venting methane and producing offspring that lead long lives venting methane and producing offspring …
The goal of climate scamming will not be served by telling all those brown people their sacred cows must be disposed of.

    4. India is a large beef exporter. Consumes majority of its production but exports a large portion.

  3. They’re Not After Your Meat Or your guns, nor your gas stoves…

    So SO true.

Saul Alinsky: THE ISSUE IS NEVER THE ISSUE.

  4. Maybe we should start a movement called Clim-Axe. An alternative to the climate movement.

  5. Rules for thee but not for me. I’ll give up meat only when there is no more wine available. Maybe other alcohol too.

  6. What ridiculous nonsense. There’s lots of agricultural land in the world that can only be used for various forms of livestock and not for producing grains or vegetables. This silly idiot Dinesh should be the first one to have to do without food.

    “The key problem is overconsumption.”
No, Dinesh. The key problem is just you. The world will be just fine without your whining about it.

And simply looking at your profile, you have AGW activities all around the world. Try not flying so much you useless piece of snot. Let me guess, you are one of the 70,000 who flew into Dubai for COP 28. All of which means you are just another Cadillac Communist.

  7. How many people understand as I do, that these people have to be removed from the face of the earth and their “carbon footprint” has to be eliminated so the people of the planet can survive and live fruitful lives?

    1. Too true.
Choose not eat meat? Well, you are a mostly harmless nut, who can be tolerated.
Try force me not to eat meat? You are an evil nut who should be gassed, for the good of society.

    1. I predict that the day is coming when he Chinese eat all the cattle in India. Right after they eat the last dolphin.

  8. Dinesh needs a Doer to Stopper his gob with lead.
He exemplifies every elite: A parasite who criticizes their host for their existence.

  9. Someone tell Dhanush Dinesh that humans are Omnivores and have been since their beginning in this world. Except that very brief period in the very beginning when humans were strict carnivores. As a result of this historical evolution, any major switch from that primary and fundamental food base will result in increased illness, injury, and health degradation.

  10. I’ll give meat after all of the elitist climate authoritarians give up their private airplanes, yachts, mansions, summer homes and move into a 800 square foot bungalow and drive a smart car.

Otherwise I’m going to embrace the power of No.

  11. Way past time to invite such intrusive do gooders to “F.Oand D”.
Those who know better than I what I should be eating, how I should be living and what energies I shall chose to use, deserve a fate befitting their mendacity.
Naked obese little emperors ,one and all.
    “No”
    “Leave me alone”.
Are words they obviously do not understand.
Or words they have chosen to not understand.
Every 80 to 100 years in our recent history,we have had to rebel and riot..
    Culling such fools and bandits.
For only fools chose to mistake forbearance and tolerance for agreement ,compliance, obedience.
We have an astonishing surfeit of fools.
Apparently if we want more clueless and useless people, all we have to do is protect them from the consequences of their actions.
    So ends all welfare societies.

  12. In the future I predict a thriving market for organic, free range, grass fed long pig.

  13. Fiction.

Tell the Maasai it’s over for them and their cattle industry. The South American gaucho. The American cattle producer.

Somebody needs to catch these guys by the heels and drag them over to the fire.

  14. 1Timothy 4:3
Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful, and by them that have known the truth.

    1. Paul warned us, early on, that there would be spiritual counterfeits, cults, and gnostics who claimed they held the “special” truths …

      A couple verses earlier …

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

That pretty well describes the Climate cultists … to a ‘T’

  15. I would suggest we tell global elites to curb their appetites for our kids, and our cash.

  16. … und now you vill see Klaus ‘Rectal’ Schwab’s instructive video, How To Fillet A Cockroach, already in progress…
