I predict there won’t be any lockdowns, or forced vaccinations this time around. The federal public service (at least in Ottawa) appears to be struggling with significant morale issues. Every week I seem to see small signs everywhere…
The EX level individuals that I know speak of how their Liberal policies have basically destroyed production (assuming that’s even measured in the first place). The return to work mandates have upset many of the most upsettable. All a mask ever did for me was to make my eyes water, my glasses fog, and my nose run. As well, would be coughing a lot. So not happening in my world.
I’ve worn industrial purpose particulate masks for coal and flyash dust, various half or full masks with specific cartridges for chemical work and SCBA masks for fire training/confined space. I knew damn well that surgical and cloth masks would not be effective for viruses.
But on a scale of 1to10, the mask ranked about a 3, mildly annoying, so I wore one to save getting into conflict with retail staff at stores. I ordered some silk masks that were so thin you could see my lip balm color. No fogging on driving glasses. Zero issues with normal breathing.
This time I’m not even going to pretend to comply because, hopefully, people have realized they’re being played for fools.

The Cochrane review clearly showed there was no benefit to the masks, something which had been strongly suspected for some time. It should have put the nail in the coffin for any public health “expert” spouting this nonsense. At the beginning of the pandemic there was some justification for it insofar as there were a lot of unknowns and the objective of the various measures was to slow, not prevent, the spread of the virus and level out the peak demand on ICUs. That objective quickly imploded under political hijacking into rank power-tripping on the part of the politicians. Sorry, but if you can justify participating in large public demonstrations (BLM etc) as a public health good and then demand at the same time the closure of the mom-and-pop corner store, you’ve destroyed any credibility you may have been initially granted by the population. If travel restrictions are “raaaaaaaacist” when they can initially do some good and then become mandatory once the virus is running wild, you’ve lost the plot. I got the initial round of vaccinations because I am in a high risk group and the risk/benefit to me, on the balance of probabilities, plainly favoured vaccination. I received one booster but have not had any further boosters and neither have the majority of my colleagues because the evidence does not support them.
When new facts emerge what do I do? I change my mind. What do you do, Dr. Tam!?!?
