I’ve just finished reading John Toland’s biography of Hitler. One of the things Hitler realized very early in life, before he got into politics, was how absolutely gullible people were. You could tell them anything and it would be believed. I really could care less if someone calls me racist or whatever. It’s lost all meaning so their garbage doesn’t work anymore. I’m sure some will buy the inevitable claims that polievre is a racist, sexist, homophobic facist still but probably only boomers.
I was in a meeting last week of a group of people from various non profit agencies (the wokest of the woke!) who didn’t know each other. After the obligatory land acknowledge statement was read, the moderator asked us to go around the table and introduce ourselves along with our preferred pronoun. When it came to my turn, I said “Hi I’m Annie. My pronouns are very personal to me and I am not comfortable sharing them with you all. You may use whatever pronouns you like when you speak of me, because I’m not going to get upset about something so silly”. Quiet descended. No one knew what to say. For the rest of the meeting, they all kinda avoided meeting my eyes. Thank goodness I am a self-employed consultant and have no ‘boss’ to answer to, but when I got home I did say to hubby, it’s getting time to retire, cos I just can’t take all this lefty crap in the workplace.
I did tell a client the other day that they probably shouldn’t put pictures of tattooed, pierced, wildly colorful haired people and obviously men in women’s clothing on their fundraising materials that go to reasonably conservative donors or they’d ‘Bud-lite’ themselves. The client sorta uncomfortably giggled, then took my advice. Crazy peeps out there! I gotta get away from these people!

Years ago, I remember a teacher in Lynn Lake, Manitoba telling me that there was some unique “flaw” amongst the German people that lead to Hitler rising to power and all of the atrocities that followed. Now we are in the early stages of something very similar. Not only are most people remaining silent but several are joining in with the cult-like shaming of anyone they deem to be a heretic.
