      Russia blew that supply up that was already delivered.
      They’ve seen what happened in the Middle East by the Americans use of these.

      2. Facepalm. Russians have been using DU rounds from the start of the war. And no they did not blew up Ukraine’s DU stockpile. That is a fairytale. Ukraine probably already has those rounds and uses them too. Nothingburger.

The really STUPID thing about the Ukraine war’s connection with Chernobyl is, as the Russians moved south toward Kiev they took possession of Chernobyl, incarcerating Ukraine’s security workers at the site. These guys’ primary function was to keep wandering visitors out of still-severely-radioactive parts of the plant, Pripyat and the exclusion zone – and they got the general impression that the Russian forces who captured the site had never heard of either Chernobyl, or the disaster ( – which is not really surprising; a Soviet $crew-up of that magnitude is likely not mentioned much back home in Russia, even all these years after the fact…)

      So the commander of the Russian forces ordered his troops into the local woods, to dig trenches and prepare defences in case the Ukrainians counter-attacked. This is really about the most horrific no-no that one could devise at Chernobyl, as a lot of radiation from the disaster settled-onto the ground in the woods, and was not then blown-away by the winds due to shelter among the trees – and it MUST NOT be disturbed, much less marched-over, much mess dug-up and people manning trenches in the middle of it.

      I gather from scattered reports I’ve read, that some of those troops have already died from radiation sickness; and the rest will suffer debilitating effects for the rest of their short lives. In Pace Requiescat…

      1. Either way an effect of the war. War is not healthy. Russians are losing men. Ukraine is losing people and infrastructure. Chernobyl was small and local by comparison. WWIII will be neither.

It’s not like any of them will need to worry about homelessness or a freeway bridge collapsing underneath the weekend Maserati jaunt, “pip pip ol boy”.

    I guess none of those twentysometing gender-studies majors ever took a geography class! LOL

  7. Having lived in both the US and Europe, and travelled all over both places, I offer the following generalizations:
    1. Americans have very limited geographical knowledge about the world. It seems like they only know where foreign countries are when the US invades them.
    2. Europeans have no concept of the distances in North America.
    I remember telling my European friends that I routinely drove 1100 km (approx 650 miles) in a single day while on vacation. They didn’t understand how that was possible.
    Also there are roads in North America where you’ll see a sign saying no gasoline for 200 km. Europeans just can’t comprehend this.

    1. Years ago I met with an engineer from Vicksburg, Mississippi in Ontario. He mentioned it was his first trip out-of-state ever (he was in his mid-30s). He asked me if I travelled much. I answered yes and said I was off to England next week. He replied “they speak American over there right?”. “Yes” I replied, “but I think they call it English”.

  8. This ties in nicely with the earlier post “Calling in the Asteroid” where prime time demo numbers suggests Fox News is getting slaughtered in the Cable News Rankings. What floored me was the top news group only pulled in 270,000 viewers. At some point the very rich will realize it isn’t worth it controlling the MSM anymore because no one is paying attention. Then it’s off to controlling the Internet.

  9. Those that are interested in the affairs of men, know that the so called ‘journalists’ are the last to know.
    The mass media cartel is the largest spreader of misinformation, often than not because they seem to know nothing outside of their cartel circles. They are reinforcing among themselves the noninformation, misinformation, disinformation and omission of information with the precision of a laser like activity.
    It is why they are the last to know. Seems it is most difficult thing for them to go and walk the street and see what the real world looks like.
    The cocktail circuit and closed watering holes are no way to get actual, live news and information.
    You may have noticed the clips on Fox of earlier times and the late Rush used to play at times on his show that on virtually all the tv channels and radio where the talking head are saying exactly the same thing, using the same syntax, without any variation. The memes are obviously coming from some misinformation central. The interesting part is that the various outlets are even afraid to change a word in the syntax in order to avoid damnation.
