That E-transit is still on the lot in Rosetown, for anyone interested…
“This isn’t the first time Ford has reimagined the future and taken our own path,” said Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford. “We have an extraordinary opportunity to lead this thrilling new era of connected and electric vehicles, give our customers the very best of Ford, and help make a real difference for the health of the planet.”
A little over a year later, Ford Model e is a pit of losses, while Ford Blue remains the cash cow of the whole group. Ford has just released its first quarter results. For the first time, the carmaker has detailed its earnings by division.
[…]
One fact is striking: Ford only delivered 12,000 electric vehicles in the first quarter, which means that the carmaker lost $58,333 for each clean car sold during this period.

We may lose money on each sale, but we will make it up in volume.
Volume?
You spelled “taxpayer subsidy” incorrectly.
Like I said in another thread, when you see the 75k sticker on a base model XL work truck- remember a good chunk of that is going so some a-hole can have his not-mustang.
I find it telling that Toyota, virtually the inventor of the (non plug-in) hybrid, has said that they won’t be developing electric only cars; and earned the undying enmity of the greens who previously thought them saintly. Maybe buy Toyota stock?
hmmm wonder how many phag 150’s they sold…??
Not enough to satisfy the phag government.
That’s EXACTLY what’s wrong with this picture, VOWG … government e-mandates are FORCING Ford to recklessly pursue e-vehicles
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2020/10/facing-emission-fines-ford-becomes-ravenous-for-carbon-credits/
True. But the big 3 have enough political and economic clout that they could put the government environmental bullshit into full retreat if they wanted to.
If they wanted to.
Yes indeed. And the only possible reason would be they believe e-cars will be massively more profitable for them … eventually.
An analogy: D’ya remember granite countertops? I do … in the 1980’’s I went shopping for granite slabs for my remodeled kitchen. I must have looked at thousands of granite slabs. Well … I just expanded my kitchen again, and went shopping for granite slabs again. But I couldn’t find more than a dozen granite slabs in all the SF Bay Area shops and yards I visited … very weak selection. It seems they’ve all been replaced by Quartzite slabs … at 3x the cost per slab. It seems as though nobody wants to stock granite and sell it for 1/3 the cost of Quartzite. SMH.
I suspect Big Auto’s embrace of e-cars is driven (sorry) by the same phenomenon… $$$$. And when you can get the government to FORCE that marketplace behavior … it’s a “win-win” for the monied interests. And the actual consumers get no say. Command and control government … pretty much what our country was founded to AVOID
Great reply VOWG…LMAO…
But so damned true.
ya made my day with that one…and given its flyday bk home..too kewl.
Cheers,
F-150 battery model is a joke. Test after test when towing a trailer the battery runs out of power after going just 100 miles.
The Hummer didn’t do much better.
What a joke.
By the way, have you see Fords new gay Raptor colors?
Loons I tell ya.
Dustoff
If they would follow Joe’s vice president Camelback Heels, paint the trucks school bus Bright yellow it will sell million’s.
if it pisses environmentalist off, paint a big lemon on it and drink Free Budweiser to drown their misery.
And that wasn’t in Manitoba in winter, I bet.
Surprised that the dealership has not doubled down and painted the e-Transit in rainbow colours.
My go to “defend capitalism” was always “the CEO of Ford could say he was going to change the paint scheme to every Ford for polk-a-dots and stripes, and the market place would decide”…
Still goes, I guess.
Willow Run was an extraordinary opportunity to lead a thrilling new era of heavy bombers, giving their customers the very best of Ford,
and made a real difference to the health of certain parts of the planet.
We must stop being held hostage by the green language. Green is not Clean.
Shouldn’t it be “Leading the Discharge”?
I will probably experience mixed feelings when the “Blue Oval” is snapped up by a Chinese or Indian vehicle builder.
A catalogue entirely consisting of badge-engineered “Great Walls” or “Tatas” will just not seem right.
How many company “insiders” have already taken down-payments for “facilitation”?
How many pollie-muppets and pubic serpents; likewise?
“Go Woke, Go Broke” is just part of it.
I guess from Toronto, but a very interesting channel, they notice a congurance between Ford anbd Trudeau policies. We really do live in a Uniparty State. End it by voting PPC.

Also, what is to notice about this fine lady’s accent is she is affecting a British accent with her indian accent. I wonder how she sounds on the Danforth bus.
““This isn’t the first time Ford has reimagined the future and taken our own path,” said Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford. ”
I was wrong – I thought he was going to say “Edsel”
A Chinese company is offering an EV for less than $12,000, one third the cheapest Tesla. China also has near monopolies on lithium and rare earth metals. They are the largest auto making country and auto market in the world, by a factor of two. They recently became the largest car exporter, beating out Japan.
They will dominate the EV and diesel/gasoline markets. Ford, GMC, Fiat/Chrysler are toast.
This. The mainstream Western companies are being led down the path to their own demise, merrily following the piper.
Y’know, I don’t really care that much about EV’s but I’m sure as hell sick of being made to pay for not just a large part of the purchase price but the juice to charge them- Think those free EV chargers every business has pay for themselves?
[*click*] From the linked map, it looks like Roseville is 203 kilometers from anywhere. And in Winter you probably couldn’t drive that puppy to the next town over, let alone get back home, because the next town over probably doesn’t have a charging station.
Come to think of it, does Roseville even have a charging station?
Hang on a minute…
OK. I just searched on “how many ev charging stations are in Roseville Saskatchewan”
and there were none listed for Roseville.
Here are the Saskatchewan cities that do have EV charging stations.
Assiniboia
Davidson
Estevan
Fort Qu’Appelle
Humboldt
Kindersley
Langham
Moose Jaw
North Battleford
Prince Albert
Regina
Richardson
Saskatoon
Shaunavon
Swift Current
Weyburn
Whitewood
Yorkton
Good luck selling that van!
EDIT – DOH! Rosetown, not Roseville. Sorry.
A Rose by any other name?
Iput a new set of plugs ,wires, cap and rotor on my 460 Mercury. Runs great.
So Jenn … if it is a macho thing … to loathe e-cars. Then how would you describe male e-car fans? As “transitioning” Bud Light drinkers? As half men? A little lacking in tuck under length?
Yeah, I agree.
Has anyone honest run EV mileage tests in the depths of a proper Canadian Winter?
You might need a bit more than a “block heater” to get out of the garage in the morning, too.
