  2. PP was installed by the party. they knew Lewis would win, so they dragged out Charest, and Brown to be the official competition. Blackballed Lewis from the media, and then low I.Q. voter (Conservatives supposedly) fell for it hook line and sinker.

    You’ve nominated a lifetime Ottawa politician trained at the feet of Kenney, to fix all the problems the lifetime politicians created. Biden had 48 years experience in politics, how’s that working out for you?

    Could of had Lewis and changed the dynamics for real, but instead the party will continue to shed votes to PPC. I’m voting Max, not because he’ll win, but he speaks with actions, not words.

    1. Leslyn Lewis is a stand up woman with principles, moral and character and not afraid to stand up for what she believes. She would have made a great leader of the Party. Totally agree PP was selected, not elected.
      The CPC ranked ballot is about as crooked as it gets and needs to be abolished.
      I wrote to PP and told him he has lost my support and vote….bye, bye.

    2. Lewis had absolutely no chance of winning. I like her, I like her politics and I agree with GRM that she is a stand up woman with principles, morals and character and not afraid to stand up for what she believes.

      But she has one fatal flaw that cancels out all of the above. She doesn’t speak French. If you aren’t fluent in French, you cannot be elected prime minister of Canada. Just a basic fact.

          Jean Chretien was fluent in French and English. Heavily accented English but fluent nonetheless.

          (There was a joke at the time that he didn’t speak either of Canada’s official languages. Apparently his French wasn’t very “upper class”, but I wouldn’t know.)

            Good point, but Canada is ‘bi-lingual’ in name only. The vast majority of us (3 out of 4) speak English, so a Prime Minister who only speaks French is pretty much impossible. That said, I’d be fine with translators if it came right down to it…they rarely say anything of substance anyway.

        Right now Canada is in freefall. The liberals are turning the nose of the aircraft down. “the conservatives” are saying lets turn the engine off.
        Make no mistake the conservatives will take us to the liberal destination, it might just take a couple extra years.
        I want someone who will try to bring the nose back up.

        I don’t care if Justin gets defeated, if he is only replaced by someone who will put in the same policies, but is now wearing a different colour tie.

        To be completly frank, I’d rather the crash happens sooner than later.

      Can’t agree more with your comment….the CONS campaign as liberal-lite, never challenging the Libs ideologically, just accusing them of not carrying out the liberal agenda competently. Of course, for appearance’s sake they might quibble over a few platform issues, or throw a bone to the actual “conservative” base. But there is no substantial difference in electioneering and very little in governance.

      So, as you say, the left-wing vote in Canada is essentially 95%. And voters only turn to the CONS when the Libs are in the throes of their occasional civil wars. (Trudeau-Turner; Turner-Chretien; Chretien-Martin). At the moment, Junior’s handlers have control files on everyone of significance within the party, so any potential rivals are biding their time.

    2. Good luck on charging all the farm tractors. The rural electrical grid would have to be rebuilt from scratch. I get 50 amps. I think my transformer can put out 100 amps if I pay extra. That ain’t enough to charge the tractors, trucks, combines etc all putting out hundreds of horsepower.

      1. I’d need to put in a new service from the road (or replace the existing transformer and add in another panel) to be able to charge an EV at our place. I have that booked in for 2040.

    Even with a CPC lead in the polls the two main parties are tied in the projected seat count. The Lib-NDP coalition is thankfully short of a majority, even with Green support. So that leaves the Bloc as the kingmakers.

    As an aside, there are — shamefully — only two parties in Canada that propose lowering immigration rates: the People’s Party and the Parti Quebecois. I’m not sure what the Bloc’s immigration policy looks like, but considering that they are basically the federal arm of the PQ it would not be surprising if they wanted to lower it as well.

    So if Poilievre and the CPC want to form a minority government with Bloc support, the price extracted (among other things) might well be cutting immigration. It would be pretty ironic if small-c conservatives, who have pushed their party in vain for DECADES to lower immigration rates, had to wait for a leftist-separatist party to actually make it happen.

      338 “seat projection” is garbage. I don’t pay any attention to it after the last election. Their average of party support in percent terms actually came pretty close to the real popular vote in the election, but the seat projection they calculate based on those percentages was way off. They projected the CONS would get a plurality. Whereas the Libs were in reality ten seats or thereabouts short of a majority. It’s not “settled science”.

        1. Your scenario was the exact same seat distribution that put Harper in the PM’s chair. He did something to get Bloc support and there was nothing the combined Libs and NDP could do about it.

          This time around it might be different. Junior’s not Mr. Dithers, he’s a narcissist sociopath with a long-nurtured power complex. If the Cons do not get an outright majority of seats, count on Junior to move heaven and earth to retain power, regardless of whether he has a plurality or not.

  16. My guess is that by the time the election comes voters will have had enough of the Bong and his shit that the Conservatives could run a Labrador dog and win. Think 1984 and Mulroney. The Bong is rapidly running out of excuses.

    Everyday is is a bigger challenge. The civil service has had enough of him and is starting to rat him out. His strategy of yelling back at them is a losers game – they only double down.

    The G&M and Global have got things on the Bong that could potentially sink him. He may be frog marched out before all this is over.

  17. I had high hopes for PP. He didn’t quail before the assaults of the radical left like O’Foole did and he was pragmatic enough to realize he has to give some ground on issues like global warming in order to get elected. Appealing to the right isn’t enough, to win you need a considerable amount of the middle ground voters too.

    But in caving to the radical left on this Anderson issue, I think he just lost the election. All the shyte coming at him from the left, the name calling, the false accusations of misogyny, racism, white supremacy, anti-scientism, fascism etc. had no effect on his popularity. I saw polls that had him in majority territory. And then he caved. To say I’m disappointed would be a massive understatement, he had been such a breath of fresh air compared to his predecessors up to that point.

    If he wins (unlikely) then Canada has a chance at saving itself.
