  3. Large problem! Canada, like the United States, produces enough food to feed itself. There will be people in the 3rd world that will not eat because of this. Similar, grinding food to make fuel lessens the amount of calories available.

Electricity black-outs, sometimes for up to 10 hours in a day. But South Africa exports coal. To Morocco. And what is Morocco doing? It’s trying to replace South African coal with solar panels. Should be interesting when South Africa can’t export coal to Morocco because it has no electricity and Morocco can’t get those darn solar panels working. Huh. Maybe they have thought of the consequences.

    2. I think the nutrien fertilizer plant in Redwater, AB is one of, if not the, largest fertilizer plants in North America already. Saskatchewan has potash (potassium) up the wazoo. Alberta and Saskatchewan would be sitting very pretty if we weren’t saddled with Canada. Oil, gas, lumber, agriculture, water, uranium and a relatively young population. Canada is an anchor on what could be one of the richest countries in the world.

  19. We have canola crush expansion in the works right now for Saskatchewan to fill the need for renewable diesel to offset crude oil. Canola requires high fertility for maximum yield benefit, take that away equals lower yields, lower yields means more acres to fill demand, lower acres for food production, less supply, higher food inflation.
    As Jordan says, we will starve the poor to save them a 100 years from now.
