…whenever I see the name of any Ivy League university, I immediately associate it with decadence, decline, and unearned privilege. I think those universities symbolize what’s wrong with America, and long have. I grew up in a generation in which the Ivy League schools were places to aspire to attend. Now, the worst ideas and practices come from them. When candidate (now Senator) J.D. Vance said at NatCon a while back that “universities are the enemy,” it was shocking for two reason: first, because it was so hardcore populist, and second, because it’s, um, true.
I didn’t take him to be saying that universities per se are problematic, and certainly not that intellectual thought is bad. He was pointing to the deep intellectual and moral corruption of the academy in our time. These are institutions that form the American ruling class, yet they create a leadership class that is frail, arrogant, unaccountable, and committed to illiberal left wing ideas that are destroying the capacity of our country to thrive. As a conservative, I believe in natural elites and hierarchies. But the hierarchy we have now is a bad one, and it’s taking the country down.
The referenced piece by Tucker Carlson, from January 2016, remains as credible and in hindsight prescient, as it was the day it was written. The Donald has more work to do. Lets have him back.

I recommend Vance’s book, Hillbilly Elegy. A very important theme, but also a lot of good stories about his life among the so-called hillbillies.
So open minded, their brains fell out.
Since “jaw jaw” has been destroyed by secret collusion of The State, media, industry and institutions, what comes next?
“As a conservative, I believe in natural elites and hierarchies.”
LOL.
Author Harold Bloom sounded the alarm about academia in the mid eighties with his book The Closing of the American Mind – He blamed a lot of things but the one thing that stayed with me was how moral relativism had gained a foothold in those institutions. Fast forward…here we are.
Oh well, Ivy league schools are just running on their name nowadays and it’s anyone’s guess how long that’ll last before it collapses. As Malcom Gladwell said “what matters these days isn’t going to Penn…it’s getting into Penn”.
Evidenced by that poor excuse for a human Keith Olbermann, who some years ago in a dispute with Ann Coulter pulled out his Cornell University diploma for the viewing audience to prove what a brainiac he was and proclaiming “See? It says right on here…Cornell University.”
Pathetic.
Follow the wampum
Indigenous advisors will be hired to help rewrite a 1990 museum policy to promote “equity, diversity and inclusion,” the Department of Canadian Heritage said yesterday. Payments include $100 per hour to elders and “knowledge keepers” for comment on Canada’s colonial past, it said.
Blacklocks.
Amazing how a primitive people without a written language or the wheel are somehow intellectually superior. Do I have to say it……
Ya, truly deep thought. Men are women, women are men. OK. Just don’t get real close to me with your insanity.
It is a puppy mill industry. Canada has way too many universities and colleges in relation to taxpayers. It is a foreign student industry subsidized by the taxpayers.
Example PEI the shithole tax parasiteprovince has 140,000 people and 2 universities and 2 colleges all sucking our blood
Merit is like reality, there is no ignoring it.
A natural hierarchy that develops from recognition of merit and skill,is a very different thing than “Respect Muh Authority” from todays hierarchies of entitled, credentialed nitwits.
The Credential Mills of Academia have just about reached their end.
When the tax payers dollar is cut off,I will enjoy the wailing and screeching with great pleasure.
Who knew, that telling children what to think, could be so lucrative..
Public Education from kindergarten to University, more proof that everything government touches, turns to crap.
Very expensive,useless crap.
Illiterate Students of the Classics….
Unable to read in English,never-mind Greek,Latin or Sanskrit.
I wonder if the Chinese have the same problem, written history going back 5000 years, with nobody to read it?
He’s dead right about the cowardice and rot in Conservatism.
