  1. Bonuses to 650 Via managers is oddly appropriate as the company lost $650 million, roughly $650 for each ticket sold.

    1. VIA has 2763 employees in 2021, or 1 management type per 3.25 employees
VIA has operating expenses of $504 million, with passenger revenue totalling $133.5 million giving it an operating ratio of 377%
For comparison, Amtrak runs at an operating ratio 195%, and the freights run at 60 to 70%

Just think how much taxpayers would save, if VIA was run as well as Amtrak

  2. In the real world, money-losing business managers do not get bonuses. They get fired. There’s a lot of things that piss me off these days, but few get my blood pressure as high as rewarding incompetence.

      1. Trying to laugh here, but can’t.

Zon, all politicians get my goat to one extent or another. I guess what needs clarification is when people who do nothing, or those who do stupid or even malignant things, get financially rewarded over and above. Via Rail managers, MotherCorpse executives, that lying bitch Deena Hinshaw, etc., etc., etc.

Regarding the latter, when it was revealed she was getting a six figure bonus for merely doing her GD job, I contacted my MLA and asked him, how much would she receive if she’d have gotten it correct?

The issue is, for far too many of these idiots there are no consequences for getting it wrong. They collect their overpay, many get handsome bonuses and they move on to the next total goat fukc. Lather, rinse, repeat. And then pour acid on the wound with a gold-plated pension indexed to inflation.

This shit needs to stop. There needs to be accountability, somewhere, somehow, by somebody.

        1. Thanks for the reply, I was being facetious. I also believe in a meritocracy and have no time for ignorance, arrogance or inefficiency, nor the rewarding of same. Something about not suffering fools willingly or gladly.

In the old days there wasn’t such a reward for being a politician except for the chance to serve your county, the wages were low and it kept the rank opportunists out of office..
I believe they should all have the same accountability as everyone else. Same with law enforcement and other “civil servants”. You should be able to sue them in court for damages etc, Until that happens, or is possible, we will get more of the same. I’m not holding my breath for a person who has actual honour or integrity to even bother running for office, let alone that person being elected.

These elected politicians are just the symptoms, anyways. The actual problem is the diseased mind of the voting public and the behind the scenes ‘deep state’ and globo-homos..

  3. If that idea doesn’t have Stalin’s “Hero” medal written all over it nothing does. Sheesh! If emulating a murderous psychopath is your thing at least try to be original.

  4. The coins are inconsequential. What is concerning is “Since the beginning of the pandemic in Canada, the agency’s size has almost doubled to 4,368 full-time equivalents by the end of 2021-22 from 2,296 full-time employee equivalents in 2019-20, according to PHAC’s most recently available departmental results report.”.
That’s somewhere around $400,000,000 per year extra cost for wages, benefits and pensions that will never reduce. That is really disturbing.
