On February 1, 2020, Dr. Fauci forwarded an article from Science about the coronavirus genomes to the NIAID Principal Deputy Director, Dr. Hugh Auchincloss, M.D. The magazine article quotes NIAID virologist, Vincent Munster, saying “There’s a very large gray area between viruses detected in bats and the virus now isolated in humans.” Dr. Fauci also forwarded Dr. Auchincloss what appears to be an article from Nature Medicine co-authored by Dr. Shi Zhengli of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
