I don’t know why Sam Harris devolved to TDS. Anyway, I’m not interested anymore in his thoughts.
Sam Harris made his mark as one of the four horsemen of atheism twenty years ago. He basically played his cards and built his audience, but has since drifted into podcast personality churning out the hottakes for a devoted audience capable of keeping him in the money.
The telltale sign is that he no longer writes books. He just “is Sam Harris” now, using his intelligence to grift an audience. He uses his smarts in the same way Scott Adams uses his smarts…not to be smart, but to convey and persuade others that they are smart.
His Trump Derangement Syndrome is likely cynical. He’s now doubling down in order to carve out his audience and get a bit of e-fame for the moment in hopes of staying relevant.
Jordan Peterson is dangerously going down this path too.

Dave Rubin was once very close to Sam Harris both personally and philosophically.
When Rubin challenged Harris on this issue, Harris blocked Rubin. Harris has also blocked others in what seems to be a pretty thin skinned move for a self professed “intellectual.”.

Some two-bit media whore is an actual media whore, and this is news in the decayed minds of westerners.
Y’all should see Sam Harris argue that the self is an illusion.
These clowns stake out a position and then can’t change at all because that would be admitting that they were wrong while others were right.
Smart people aren’t afraid to admit when they are wrong, in fact that is one of the reasons that they are smart.
When they make a mistake they correct it.
They understand that the respect that they get for being intellectually honest is far better than moronically staking out a position and refusing to admit a mistake.
They shower contempt on those who disagree with them and that makes it even harder for them to admit that they were wrong while the people that they heaped their derision on were right.
They have small minds and big vocabularies.
They double down on stupid because they are emotionally invested in being correct and in being perceived as the smartest guy in the room.
I’ve worked with a lot of smart tradesmen and engineers and they couldn’t care less what the answer is as long as it’s the right one.
Getting it right is what matters, not homesteading on a certain position.
Sam Harris is mind bogglingly dumb.
He actually said,

Less admirable than a crack addict videotaping himself f***ing prostitutes he paid for with money his Father made him obtain in RICO deals?

Sam Harris said things a couple weeks ago that were shockingly dumb, and he is now using even dumber arguments to try and justify his previous dumb comments.
He may as well use gasoline to put out a fire.
The more he talks the dumber he sounds.
My IQ could be reduced by 50 points and I would still be way more intelligent than Sam Harris.
As others have said, he is likely trying to carve out an audience (of dumb folks). Personally I think he is a day late and a dollar short. That audience is shrinking and there are a lot of ex CNN personalities on the prowl for TDS dollars.
Maybe he is angling for a shot as a republican senate candidate.

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I imagine myself voting for someone like Trump. I thought his attacks on other Rs were cheesy and embarrassing. But, I hate “piling on”. In 2016, I found myself defending Trump against all kinds of childish, churlish claims and dribbling spit rants. If they had been above board and attempted to be accurate, it might have been a different story. The media and the TDSers turned Trump into an appealing underdog .
