They were almost certainly looking for – and probably got – Russiagate related documents. Anything & everything that would show the malfeasance of the FBI, DOJ, etc. in their six-year (and counting) pursuit of Trump.
Andy McCarthy thinks it’s building to an obstruction of justice charge. That’s always a good “catch all” when the feds can’t pin anything specific on you; they claim you interfered with them, and that becomes its own crime, even if you otherwise haven’t done anything wrong.

A vast majority of people are looking at this from the wrong perspective. Personally, I don’t think they were looking for anything in particular. They already knew what was there from the review that took place a couple months ago. What they were doing was setting a fundamental basis for the inevitable and perfectly timed indictment. Whether the indictment has merit or not (and it won’t) is immaterial. It is an effort to push the independent voters away from the right (or give that perception via reinforcement in the media).
Had they found something of merit, it would have been serendipity.
Trump’s popularity is, actually, increasing due to the absolute poor performance of the current administration. They can’t hope to compete in a head to head competition, so when the time is right they will file the indictment of outlandish accusations and hope it’s enough to push the squishy independent voters back to their dank corner. They need it closer to apply the various ballot harvesting techniques that won them the election in 2020. As it is now, even blatant drop box stuffing isn’t going to do it.
As if they did not change the nuclear codes every time a new President is elected.

IIRC the nuclear launch codes are changed DAILY, and that includes POTUS’s own codes. On inauguration day they change at noon when the presidential term turns over.

First, if there are any nuclear secrets in those documents that is important for one reason: the president cannot unilaterally declassify nuclear secrets. So if there are nuclear documents, we know right away Trump is in serious trouble. However, the existence of nuclear secret documents isn’t required for the FBI actions.
Second, even if these nuclear documents do not exist, the actions could still be justified. One item on the warrant listed was the espionage act. That act makes no distinction if materials are classified or not. Therefore, if he is passing along documents he is not entitled and they contain sensitive information, the FBI action is justified.
Third, even if nuclear documents do not exist AND there is no proof of Trump passing along documents, he is still not entitled to keep those documents. They are the property of the federal government. This changed after Nixon. The 33 million documents that Trump claims Obama kept are in the Obama presidential library which is ran by the federal government.
Then there’s the small matter of Trumps lawyers making a false declaration. Even of they don’t face criminal charges, they will face state bar disciplinary action.
To top it off Trump keeps incriminating himself and contradicting what his lawyers are saying in their filings. He can’t help himself.

Yes the Obama documents eventually were returned, but when he took them, no one sent the FBI to get the documents back.
You know just as well as we do that the way Obama was treated and the way Trump is treated are diametrically opposed.

We all know the only secrets the FBI are concerned about is Trump’s personal copies of FBI Russiagate fake files. Trump had declassified all these records while in office but they could send a lot of Feds to prison if their defenders lost power. All those Top Secret file folders are freely available to these in government. Because something is in a folder doesn’t classify it. Ask any historian and he will tell you that half of the freely available files in the US National Archives are still in classified folders including top secret. It is not an absolute practice to remove the folder upon declassification. I suspect 100% of nuclear secrets revolve around Trump’s relationship with Little Rocket Man. He likely saved correspondence as a memento.
Remember the Clinton case where US Federal Courts determined that the person responsible to separate personal from government files was the president himself. The power of the US Archives and the FBI devolves from the president in the Constitution. They do not get to give orders to the president or an ex president for decisions made while president. Anyone see Biden’s speech? The guy popped an o ring in his frontal lobe.
What’s to stop them from bringing “what they were looking for” and taking pictures of it, then later claim they found it?

Anyway, all of this FBI raid business seems to be connected to the Nuremburg rally Biden held (without many Nazis or torches) the other day, setting a stage for what appears to be some forthcoming black swan event. I would not be surprised if things start to move towards a confrontation south of the border, I think there are forces build up that won’t be restrained much longer (on both sides) and the bad people realize that a lot of ordinary citizens are on to their full agenda, so it’s now or never in terms of enforcing it.
