    1. Steakman – I heard the Niagra mayor on As It Happens tonight. Other stations were busy or getting busy. He was very convincing w.r.t. to getting rid of the app. He said concerns about COVID coming into Canada made sense a year ago but not now. The CBC interviewer didn’t know what to say but didn’t see any connection to Dear Leader, Ha ha.

      2. My husband and I lived on the border, U.S. side, in the Niagara area for 29 years. I previously lived in Ontario for a number of years (U.S. citizen). I was in Canada every week, pretty much, until we moved to the Midwest three years ago.

        Not “vaccinated.” Because I’m not stupid. And for specific medical and religious reasons, neither of which Canada will accept. And then there’s ArriveCan. We can’t even drive through Ontario to see our friends in western NY. So screw the Canadian government. I doubt we’ll ever go to Canada again at the rate things are going. (Not that NY is much better at the point.)

    So, the Trudeau Liberal government needs the arrivecan app because of their government’s covid vaccination certificate requirement. The sane, logical solution is to simply remove the covid vaccination requirement…like the vast majority of countries have already done.

    Unless the “science” of human biology and virology is different in Canadian citizens then there appears to be no medical or scientific justification for the covid vaccine requirements. Has the Trudeau Liberal government produced any evidence to support the need for covid vaccines for travellers or is it still the super secret science hidden under cabinet confidentiality?

    Remove the vaccine requirement -> which removes the need for the arrivecan app -> which removes the roadblock to travel and tourism.
    It’s really that simple.

  12. It’s deliberate. They are killing off the tourism sector just like they have the energy sector, working on the healthcare sector and next up… agriculture. The only jobs available will be government run. We will soon wake up cold, poor and hungry and wonder what the heck happened…. THIS happened!

    1. The UK and Europe are able to destroy private sector business and industry in one swoop by making energy unaffordable for everyone. Plus highly centralized government makes it easier to implement destructive policies.

      It’s more difficult in North America because we still produce ample energy domestically and the states/provinces have more power than in Europe. There’s no way to create the central government induced massive energy poverty we see overseas.

      In Canada, the hobbling of private business and industrial sectors must be done piece by piece. First oil companies, then pipelines, tourism, agriculture etc. while maintaining votes by temporarily protecting jobs in key provinces until near the very end.

      Printed money is an illusion and there are no taxes to be gotten if no one works.

          1. The Canadian model shows this as a “successful” business practice. Restricted competition through government policy has been very good for Canadian banks, telecommunications, dairy/egg industry, etc. The companies are guaranteed profits with no competition and governments get both higher revenues and control.

            Imagine a world where there’s fewer corporate entities but between them they have completley cornered and controlled entire sectors. Their pricing power from both purchasing from primary/wholesale producers to retail consumer pricing would be unrivaled. Think of the coal barons and their company towns from history.

All the money we’ll make, all the patients I’ll treat, and all the taxes we’ll pay will now go to the States. It is the Covid. It is the truckers. It is the lack of freedom.     I frequently cross the border to shop in Montana. Americans there tell me they despise ArriveCan because it’s a minor pain in the ass, but much more importantly, they are convinced their travelling data is being harvested by the Canadian government and being leaked and or sold to the usual suspects.

    I tell them they’re paranoid, but not nearly paranoid enough about dealing with the Canadian government.
