    1. A friend of mine didn’t get a job because he didn’t have a Fakebook account. They kept telling him “everybody gives us their password, if you don’t you are not considered.” His response: “then I don’t want to work here with a lot of compliant assholes.”

      He found a job that’s a perfect fit, the “everybody gives us their password” company didn’t survive the Wuhan Panic. I work with him sometimes and when things are frustrating I remind him “you never worked for X.” Never fails to cheer him up.

    Then in an ironic justice sort of way she will find she’s the one unable to get a job in HR ever again.
    That being said, why do I get the feeling she’s a government employee?

  18. That seals it. I know quite a few high-end performers in Canadian STEM fields. I am now pulling out all the stops to get them to emigrate, and take their skills, energy, innovation, and future taxes with them.

    Canada is simply not good enough as a people or a country, to be allowed to keep these people.

    Let the serious brain drain begin.

    The modern version of the political commissar in Canada’s workplace, will soon be wondering why things just aren’t quite working as well as they used to. “HR” will soon discover that the people they are “policing” will simply have lost interest in really trying too hard to “keep things working” and will opt instead to do the bare minimum to get by.

    1. Where are you going to emigrate to that isn’t as crazy as Canada? I used to think I could run to the US or Britain if it got too stupid. Britain is as crazy as Canada and the US is on the brink of civil war. Anywhere worth going to is worth going to because they have standards and don’t want to be flooded with foreigners.

    In 40 yrs I have never ever gotten a job via a Resume/Interview/HR.
    A system totally obsessed with Credentialism….

    HR: Useless profession filled with arrogant little University trained beotches who’ve vastly over estimated their value. A stalwart bastion of the LEFT….Non Whites need not apply, straight Males need not apply…blah blah blah.

    Strange that in all the years I worked in the Oil Sands industry, had yet to see any Gays or Trans up there….ever….or prior, while I was still in the Fabrication industries in the 70’s.

    1. Over the years of my working life, I’ve seen that department change from being payroll and benefits clerks to guardians of the establishment who think they know how things should run.

      Armpit College was, maybe, the worst example of that. Not content with ensuring that our pay statements were in order, that mob also ran “trainer” sessions, where you waste several days (during which you could have done something productive) by playing silly patty-cake games so that you’re now more “sensitive” or “enlightened”.

      Students often complained that their fees were too high. I’m sure if that bunch at AC had been properly culled and the majority of the people in that department fired, thereby saving a lot of money, tuition would have gone down.

      But, the sole purpose of bureaucracies are to maintain their existences, that would never have happened.

  22. Ran into one of those for my exit interview when I retired. She kept hinting that she could screw me seven ways from Sunday if she wanted. I just kept thinking how happy I was to be in the checkout lane instead of applying for a job.

    1. When I quit Armpit College nearly 20 years ago to the day, I had an exit interview with a secretary in that department. After she handed me my final paycheque, I proclaimed: “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I’m free at last!”

      For some reason, she was unamused.

  26. A few years ago I was sitting at a communal table with a mother, father and daughter at Granville Island. The usual stranger chat developed in which daughter said she was studying HR at university. Innocently I asked if her classes were mostly women. I was shocked when she turned beet red. I was self employed since about age 30 and was not at all familiar with HR. Her beet red face got me up to speed.

    I generaly love women but women of officialdom seem to be generally wicked and hateful perhaps because they are outside their true nature.

  36. I had to turn it off; she can barely speak, and is impossible to listen to. The voice, annoying to begin with, goes UPUPUP and down to a power-whisper, and um, then, um, um… she’s quite inarticulate for a “professional.”

    But none of this is surprising. HR is the sludge-pot where business residue goes to live. It attracts people who couldn’t make it in education school, and those are the stupidest people in every university.

    Another HR professional stated this opens up the whole organization to suits for everyone who has had a negative experience with that organization, whether it was termination, disciplinary action at work, or even negative outcomes from applications.
