  3. With respect to Marilyn Gladu, besides her selfish politics, why are these public figures always “less than special” in the looks department?
    I graduated university in 1975, Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Architecture. It was emphasized to us that we were in an “image” profession and it was important to present ourselves well. Then in the 1980’s, it was all about power dressing. Again, I tried to look good to represent my company and then myself when meeting with commercial clients. I wanted to look as good or better than them.
    But now, people look like slobs and because of their lack of grooming, I also wonder what else is “lacking”.
    On another note, I watched “Citizen Vigilante” 2 weeks ago and had no issue with any of the plot.

    Because they want you to believe that piss is rain, terrorists are righteous, debt is wealth, God is dead. (Except for the Islamist god, he’s super.)
    Most Canadians are content being told what to think.
    Ratting out your neighbor had an 85% approval rate during the Scamdemic.
    Carney’s Forever Government will get little to no pushback from voters.
    At most, a shrug.
    But: “Gee, stuff is expensive. Fcking Americans…”

  5. Watched that Citizen Vigilante movie a few nights ago. It was really bad. No real plot, gratuitous sex scene, lots of blood. Not worth getting upset over.

        Exactly. And why would we, when the Americans paid the price for us? Instead, we now sneer at them for their own patriotism. We act like children now at sporting events involving Americans, and we’re actually *proud* of that fact.

    2. I think it would be more accurate to say is that the existence of Canada proves that the American Revolution should not have been resisted. The attempt to suppress it made it necessary. Canada, after all, proves that all North Americans want the same things, and that the Americans are better than the British at getting them

      1. All right, let’s look at it a bit more. The American Revolution made Canada possible, but only the Civil War made it necessary. It is quite plausible to imagine a history where the Civil War was avoided, or else, easily won by the South, and in such a world there’s no need for Canada and no reason to think it would emerge.

        The eighty years after the Revolution seemed to prove, not so much that the Revolution had been unnecessary but that it had been a bad idea. The American attacks on the Canadas, exploiting the difficulties of the British against Napoleon in 1812 and against the rebellious French Canadians after 1838, were so conspicuously unsuccessful that nothing seemed necessary other than a unified military command for the Canadas and the Maritimes, and the Americans seemed palpably less capable than the British.

        That changed with the Civil War, when the US changed in a couple of years from a bunch of bumbling bumpkins to the greatest military power in the hemisphere. Does the Civil War prove the Revolution to have been unnecessary? If not, it’s hard to see how the consequence of Civil War did.

        But yes, for at least a half a century it did seem that Canada was providing all the freedom and prosperity that the US was, or at least close enough for rock and roll. Since the onset of the Greta Depression, Canada has become ever less free and ever more alienated from its history, and has only intermittently been economically competitive. Today the best you can say is that Canada proves that the American Revolution was not necessary, at least not for the nation’s survival, but also that it was the right thing to do.
