  1. we’re all blessed l say, and lm no fan of royalty but Lizzie did her part to unite.
also note, ONLY brit royal to be an *actual serving member of the military during war in the modern era*. google it, she was an ambulance driver or such WW II.
ya, l give her a pass.

    1. Both Prince Philip and Lord Louis Mountbatten were with the Royal Navy during WW II. Prince Andrew served with the RN during the Falklands War and (former) Prince (AKA “Mr. Meghan”) Harry flew Apache helicopters in Afghanistan.

      1. oopsie. my bad. make that ‘future monarch’.
there fixed it. she’s still an ok bloke.

      2. While Philip, Lord Louis, and Andrew all “stood into danger” during their various terms of service, word is that young Harry was never a pilot (co-pilot at best) and was – during his time in Af’stan very well guarded by Gurkhas.
One should also note that the Queen’s uncles, the Dukes of Gloucester and Kent, held military positions although their connections with the royal family (and their ages) meant their service was limited. However, the Duke of Kent died when the military plane he was in crashed in Scotland,

  2. I heard a similar story about HRH several years ago.

I don’t recall the location, but she was out in the British countryside one day and popped into a pub in a village for lunch or something like that. The woman who served her remarked that she looked just like the Queen.

HRH expressed relief that she did.

  3. Two American men … on a hiking holiday? I thought the gays knew everything about the Queen? About ALL queens, for that matter.

    1. It’s had an interesting history:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Save_the_Queen

Note that there appear to be three verses, the second one commonly omitted because of its political content. One story I heard about that was that it was written during a time of Scottish rebellion and that stanza was an expression of support for the British monarchy.

The tune was well-known 200 years ago. Beethoven includes it in the final section of Wellington’s Victory.

      1. “Frustrate their knavish tricks”

Charles has expressed his opposition to the second verse.

Perhaps he’ll abdicate. Take a hint from his Uncle, if he has any understanding of history. I am not holding my breath.

        1. That’s my thought as well because I have no respect for the man, the want to be a tampon eco-warrior.

    1. That duty was thrust upon her beginning with her uncle’s abdication and her father succeeding him.

      1. Agreed, but she has been exceptionally diligent and gracious in filling the role. Imagine well over 70 years (because she began to represent the Crown in her teens) of doing the rounds, visiting and inspecting all sorts of places, meeting and shaking hands with countless members of the general public as well as far too many dignitaries, and doing all this without ever a hint that she’s bored or even less than interested. As well, she is very up-to-date with British affairs, and former prime ministers have said how helpful their weekly audiences were.

  4. I am no fan of the monarchy to be sure, but given the recent global advances of authoritarianism under the guise of “democracy” and the absolute grace of Queen Elizabeth throughout her life I find myself questioning democracy. Of course we have upcoming Charles, William etc, so there’s that. Back to square one I suppose.

  5. I was in England for three months on a technology exchange with a Newcastle-based company with whom we were partnering. During the last month there, my wife flew over from the US for a week of driving through the English and Scottish country side.

I took the rail to London to meet my wife and we rode the train back to Newcastle. The train was open seating. We sat at a table with a bench on either side and sort of cozied up for the couple of hour ride to the north.

Just before we left King’s Cross station, a gentleman approached and asked if he could sit across from us. We readily assented. We talked all of the way to Newcastle and he stayed on the train to continue on to Edinborough (sp?). It was a pleasant conversation and he was a funny guy. I got the idea that he was enjoying the discussion because we were Americans and had a different take on all things political.

Just before Newcastle, he made a point of telling us that he was a famous celebrity in Britain and that he seldom went any place where he could have a gentle conversation with folks that were not in awe of his fame. He told me that it was a welcome respite from the fawning attention he usually got when he traveled. I did not think much about it.

When I returned to the office, I mentioned it to a coworker. He was “gobsmacked” that I had met this guy and had an opportunity to converse with him for hours. It was an interesting side light to a remarkable and wonderful journey. If my wife’s plane had been on time, we would have caught an earlier train and it would have been different. This was 30 years ago now, and I do not recall his name. I have so many stories from that time across the pond. Oh well. Sorry if this was a bore, but it has always stuck in my mind.

  6. This Yank loves the Queen.

My father claims Buckingham Palace was built on land forcibly seized from my ancestors. She’s such a lovely woman that I hereby pronounce all is forgiven.

  7. She was caught on a hot mike saying that governments are not doing enough to fight climate change. In the case of Charles, the apple didn’t fall very far from the tree.

  8. I like this Queen.
Figure She prays every night”Dear Lord, one more day to keep the Jackass from the throne”.

She has invested her entire life into this performance.
    And has performed remarkable well.
Playing the Queen with great grace and humility, like her mother before her.
Superb acting in a great morality play.

The “Royal Family,Rulers of Britain and the Commonwealth” has been the longest ongoing soap opera of the television era..
Charles will cure that,on day one.

I keep hoping,She the Queen in a burst of sanity and reversion to better times, will have her trusty henchmen behead members of her own family.
What an ending that would be..
Queen Culls the clueless and useless Royals..

    Signs off.
Why that there is made for Netflicks…

  9. THE QUEEN has urged the public to accept the Covid-19 vaccine, suggesting that it would be selfish to refuse one.

In a rare display of social intervention, the British monarch urged people to “think about others rather than yourselves”.

Here they are celebrating about just how many subjects have taken the killing shots

    They all should be beheaded…

    1. FreeMan, “They should all be beheaded”, I fully agree with you. I emigrated from that awful country forty years ago, and have never been back, not even once. One of the reasons I left was because of the populace always fawning over the royals. I’ve never been a fan, and Charles is a pompous fop who is very pro WEF, and he’s next in line!

Other reasons? I came here were for a better, and free life, the ability to own and use firearms, the wide open spaces and American hot rods and muscle cars. I never regretted leaving, but sadly the turd is destroying this once great country. I’ve even thought about driving to the US border and declaring myself a refugee, claiming political persecution, but with Biden and co there now, things are just as bad. All most of us want is for these political assholes to just leave us alone, but they just can’t help themselves. I escaped being a royal “subject”, and thought I would be a free man, and instead I just jumped out of the UK frying pan and into the intolerant lefty north American fire. Same shit, different day and place. Sigh.

  10. She reigned over the transformation of England from a concealed carry, free speech and free trade state to the twitter-policing, Islamic attacked, gun-free locked-down police state sh*thole that it is now.
    Worse queen ever.

  11. It is too bad some cannot show some grace (like the Queen) on her anniversary. She is a remarkable woman. Her family showed courage during WW 2 when they decided to stay in London during the blitz. She worked with the army as a mechanic. There is a wonderful out there somewhere where she changed a tire on a lonely country road for an army lorry driver. She did not preside over the decline of the UK. That can be blamed on the same gang of clowns that are ruining our country and the one to the south of us. Indeed I think the Queen has acted as a brake to the decline. She certainly restrained men like Tony Blair. Anyhow, I wish her the best. As all should. She has led a long and full life answering the call of duty that so few do.

    1. If she had done her duty, England wouldn’t be the sh*thole it is now.
She called people who don’t wish to get jabbed “selfish”, and complained to her peers that the government isn’t doing enough to fight “climate change.”
      Worse queen ever,
Again, If she had done her duty, England wouldn’t be the sh*thole it is now.

      1. That’s worst not worse mate. Worst is when you compare things in the plural. I am assuming that you know England had more than two queens. Anyway no arguing with you. I grew up in England and yes it has its problems now. I reiterate she has little to do with them. The constitutional monarchy was established in 1688. Parliament runs the country. Her role is to advise and give assent. But her hands are tied. Perhaps you should direct your venom to the real culprits and let the lady enjoy the last few years of her life.

        1. Nothing I say or do has any impact on her, so don’t tell me to “leave her alone to enjoy the last years of her life”.
She could voice opinions about say, freedom of speech, ancient rights and liberties, Magna Carta, instead she voices opinions about how selfish the unjabbed are, and how the gov’t has to further impoverish her subjects to fight climate change, that’s the extent of her advising and what she assents to.
You suffer from a bad case of cranio-rectal disorder.

  12. When Queen Elizabeth passes.
Canada needs to dump the monarchy completely. And go with a directly elected Head of State. With a fixed 4 year term that deals with all international affairs. All of this would be removed from the office of PM.
The Privy Council should be abolished and all its special powers.
The PM should not be allowed to appoint Heads of Crown Corps, these jobs must go on merit not because you know someone or you get a kick back.
Provinces should elect their own Judges to a set term.
We need to bring back Grand Juries with full powers to compel Presidents and PM’s and Premiers to testify under oath.
Anyway a few items that need addressed.
The President would be above the Office of PM which is not mentioned once in the Fake Constitution.
At this time or even before each Province should begin Directly electing their own Governor same as any other state or subnational government.
We have a mess, we need to fix our mess.

    1. do you want as many canadians, who voted in the last election showed and did elect a spoiled boy as a complete dictator?
it seems so from the asses who have written many of the comments.
